Been here 2x & the servers are so nice, but had a different experience with the food: - Pizza: Really delicious pizza both times! - Lemon pepper wings - very inconsistent: * 1st visit they were crispy, very flavorful with the lemon pepper seasoning, juicy, and some of the best wings I've ever had. * 2nd visit: They were gross - not crispy at all like before, hardly any seasoning, & I'm just not even sure they were cooked all the way. The skin was like it was boiled or something. I took them home & tried to air fry them more, but the wings' skin was odd & wouldn't get crispy at all. Now I have like 6-7 left that I'll probably have to toss, so that was an expensive fail. Aaron (or Erin?) was our server the 1st time & she was so sweet & helpful, & we just had a really fun time in there. The music and/or TVs were a little too loud both times, as when there's not very many people in there, it's just too loud & you can't call a friend or look at social media while you're eating if you're by yourself. Stopped in for dinner after a long day of vacationing and Chicho's hit the spot. Service was pretty quick. Ordered the Chesapeake Beach. They were out of sun dried tomatoes so the substituted fresh. Pizza was good but we found it to be garlicky and would've rather had it as intended. Chili and chips were good, but not certain I'd order again? Fun atmosphere with TVs and live entertainment. The staff were friendly and accommodating even though there were busy with the seated area and pick up area orders. We had mozzarella sticks, a meat lovers like pizza and three kids meals. It was one of those nights that I had a late night craving for pizza and I couldn't wait til the next day. As I scrolled on Yelp I came across Chicho's and decided to head over. Chicho's was easy to find as it sits on the main strip. Walking in, the take out area is small, however, they offer a self-order station to the right so I didn't have to wait in line. Thank you Chicho's for that feature. I placed my order, grabbed my receipt from the counter and went back to the car to wait. I gave it 10 minutes then headed back in and my pizza was just getting boxed up. Woo Hoo! Once I got in the car, the smell alone captured all of my attention. lol. Babeeeeeeeeeee!!! When I bit into this pizza my taste buds said "Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!" Fresh cheese. Quality sauce. Perfect crust (doughy with crispy edges), and a great sauce/cheese/crust ratio. I ordered pepperoni and the pepperonis used were meaty and very flavorful. This pizza was the bombbbbbbbbb. I am so glad I was able to get a Chicho's experience before heading back home. We love Chichos, normally, but our last visit was a complete mess and we had to walk out. It's like they hired their poor servers out of jr high and everyone involved loses. Our server was completely inexperienced and not helping the situation where a large group walked in right before us. We waited almost an hour for our pizza, which was made incorrectly and not good. We had one drink each the entire time we waited because she was either too afraid to add time onto our waiting or just didn't realize people need to be checked on periodically throughout their dining experience. And we were on the patio and watched everyone else have the same experience as us. Boxing their food up to take home or cancelling an order because of the crazy long wait. Which we ended up doing as well and when I reminded her of the sides of ranch we paid for, she gave us someone else's and it was warm. Which is not very appetizing for ranch, which SHOULD be kept cold. The entire meal and experience was awful and we ended up still tipping well because it wasn't this girls fault that they didn't hire an experienced waitress, but we won't be supporting poor service again. Okay, I'm sad to write my first 1 star review. Honestly, I have never heard a good thing about Chicho's. I had family in town who wanted to give it a shot. I want to start with service. It was poor. They didn't have silverware ready for us, and we were told it will take awhile to be folded. No water refills. The waitress didn't check up on us. I dunno, just not good. The ambiance was okay, nothing special. The food. We got the lumpia, and everything about it was wrong. The wrapper is too thick, it's not fried well. The worst of all, the meat inside the lumpia was not cooked. Had to send it back. Like oof. Honestly worst lumpia I ever had, and lowkey a disgrace. The cheese bread was okay. One of our pizza's was late because the cook put a hole in the first one? I dunno, that's what we were told. The dough was also borderline not cooked all the way. The pizza is just basic pizza. The best thing we had were the fries which were actually pretty good. The green onions and sauce drizzle with a crunchy fry was super yummy. Unfortunately, I wouldn't go here again. 0 Star Worst Chicho's Location, Hands Down! I've been to every Chicho's location multiple times, and the one on 29th Street is by far the worst. The service here is consistently awful, and my most recent visit on a Sunday karaoke night just confirmed that this location doesn't care at all It wasn't even busy, yet the bartenders completely ignored us multiple times when we tried to order drinks or it would take 15 minutes every time...It felt like they were only interested in serving their three "regulars" who, mind you, weren't even keeping them busy with drinks. We were a party of 13, being polite and patient, and still treated like we didn't exist. One bartender in particular curly hair, attitude on full display outright refused to serve us a shot and a drink at the same time, claiming it was against "ABC law". As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I knew that wasn't true. When I calmly pointed this out, she doubled down and just said she was denying me... NO professionalism, extremely passive-aggressive, and completely unnecessary. This kind of attitude isn't a one-off either. I've given this location multiple chances, and each time the service is just as bad or worse. Everyone in my group left frustrated, annoyed, and honestly pissed off. If you want to enjoy your night out, do yourself a favor and pick a different Chicho's or Duck Dive down the road. The owner really needs to re-evaluate the staff here or at least give them some serious customer service training. Would not recommend. read more

This is the worst Chichos in their chain. In several occasions we got rejected since they had events that they rejected their own customers. Last draw was when we showed up asking for draft beers and they ran out all of them. They asked us to call back in a few days to make sure they had these before we came in. When we called back they said they were not allowed to tell us if they had draft beers or not on the phone. This sucks and we decided to go somewhere else since they don't need customers. (Slices of pizza on the Virginian Atlantic - 2 of 2) I was told about several pizza places and Chicho's was one of them. There are several locations in the Hampton Roads area, and this is the one closest to the action at Pacific and 28th. Unlike Miami Beach, the density drops quite a bit once slightly inboard from the ocean and, as such, they have their own parking lot. I went in and inquired about slices which they had and were in the $3 to $4 range. I wanted a pepperoni and cheese slice. I was reading their printed menu or poster board and it mentioned that these slices would be slightly spicy. I asked about this. The hostess, who turned out to be my server, said that they were "not aggressively spicy" and that kids ate them. That's a clever construct to describe their taste, leading me to wonder if this young lady was a William and Mary or UVa grad. I'm kidding. However, she was very spirited and seemed to enjoy and be very adept at interacting with the public. The spiciness of the pizza was on the mild side, although it came on via its aftertaste, and this required that I order a soft drink with it to cool things down. It was around happy hour time (thus, for me, this was a lunch-dinner situation) and my soft drink cost about what their drink specials did, meaning about the same as the price of that slice of pizza. I'm still at 4 stars. Chicho's automatically adds 18% to all bills, so that seems to interpolate the various tipping strata we are now seeing. I didn't mind that. However, I forked over $10, sat there finishing up my soft drink, possibly even getting a refill for the road, and about 50 cents that was due me was never returned. It's not about 50 cents, but about giving me the option of whether I wanted to leave above and beyond the included 18% tip rather than have them decide for me! I didn't say anything. Let me get to the name Chicho. This is a pizza place and an Italian joint and it appears that it got its start in the late '60s. Chicho is not an Italian name or word, but most likely a phonetic rendition of the Italian moniker "Ciccio." But, hey, you know how it is. Anglophones have a tough time with a "hard c," except for maybe when it's cello or ciao. So, what is one of the world's most beautiful languages gets bastardized for the sake of convenience. Maybe Chacho's in Houston connected with Chicho's in Virginia Beach and said, "Have your people get in touch with my people." Thus, for not returning my change more so than for the name which is not a spelling you'd see in the boot country, Chicho's in Va Beach slips to 3 stars. It's a solid enough 3 stars, though. Note that they have an outdoor patio, that you can check to see when they have their specials, and that it has quite a following. read more

Visited my old home, Virginia Beach, again this weekend! This is a local's favorite! It's a sports bar. And the staff always know everyone! There's always something fun going on. From all types of live music, to DJs playing the jams, to karaoke and trivia, you can find fun here. Even more when the weather is warm. We loved this place prior to yesterday. It was the best place on the beach for a burger. I made my husband walk 7 blocks to eat here. I ordered the cheese burger, she had to check if they were patted out yet. This was 1 in the afternoon. She came back and said all was OK. I ordered mine medium. I should have been eating at McDonald's. My burger was so thin it was unreal. My husband ordered a salad with grilled chicken. We had a sweet tea and diet soda. Our bill for lunch was 60 dollars. Visiting Virginia Beach for a jazz festival. Arrived a day early. The hotel restaurant closed at 10 for food. Hostess at Champs recommended Chicho's. She said it was affordable & open late. Took a Uber & arrived in 5 minutes. When you walk in there is a take out section. Go to the next door & you enter the dining room. We were seated right away at the outside area. The bar had a nice vibe. Waitress took our order. Drinks were strong but in a 8 oz glass. Food was good and hot. Order cheese sticks that came with choice of regular or hot marinara. We chose hot marinara. It was good & spicy. Ordered pizza slices which was only available with spicy marinara. It was different but good. The pizza dough was soft and delicious. The music was good. I am going to be a little bias here, I love the Chicho's on 11th Street, but this one here is nice too! My husbae and I visited last Friday night for a wing run for my baby and her friends. We walked bout 3 blocks in the rain, but this time of the year, the beach is not busy at all. Therefore, no need to move the car, walk and be merry, rain or shine, day or night! We arrived about 10pm and the place was pretty steady despite the weather. The DJ was present, but no music was playing. Shortly after sitting down, the DJ started playing music. I think the DJ was in pre-superbowl mode. He was definitely playing west coast tunes along with Mary J Blige while we were present for about an hour. While waiting for the food, we ordered cocktails. I am a tequila drinker and only one tequila was available - bummer! Tres Agaves... let's go! With two limes - I was just fine! We ordered 4 orders of wings 3 with fries and one with a simple salad - I love a simple salad. All the wings were naked with the sauce of the side. These were good, but again, the other location - the wings be on point!! This was my second time visiting this location and it seems to be a cool hangout spot for people. Everyone present seemed to be having a good time. There is even a patio for the smokers. We sat near the outdoor patio and I did not smell smoke at all - good job yall! There is a small parking lot, but I saw many people getting dropped off or walking (like us). Bar seating, table seating and high top table seating is available. The pizza is always delicious and flavorful, I get substitute of the choice pizzas and add pepperoni, doing that though is better calling in than online food services like DoorDash, Grubhub etc they don't see my substitute. Came to grab some pizza for lunch. From the outside it is not much, but once you go inside you can see people making the pizza and there is a bar. The staff was all very helpful and nice. There is outdoor seating as well. The waitress has some very good suggestions when it came to different beers and drinks. We got three pizzas a d were really surprised on the size. All three pizzas came out piping hot and were all delicious. They had a good variety to choose from that we will probably swing by again. We had the margherita pizza, the bbq pork pizza, and a cheese pizza. There were other thing in the menu that looked good so it would be good to go back and try. Ever since Chichos came around I've found myself getting it over all other places in the area. Pizza is consistently delicious, good cheese, and fairly priced even at the oceanfront over every other place!!! I've moved away and get it every time I'm in own. A (tourist) guy was eyeing me down (thought I was local) in the takeout section outside the bar area, which was super convenient, asked me how the food was and told him he has nothing to worry - pizza is great. So the cauliflower crust is the way to go. I ordered a modified specialty pizza and was very good. But that wasnt the way to go because it ended up being almost twice as much as a regular specialty pizza that my friend ordered. Just stick to the slices or the specials I would say. But the spicy marinara IS good. They don't get cheap on cheese but the crowd in there got annoying. 2 guys next to us were asking people to give them some pizza because they couldn't afford to buy any and were not asked to leave. 9/1/20 KAYLA was our server and she was on fire. She made everything wonderful and was repeatedly checking to make sure we need a refill on drinks or if the food was okay. Kayla has a great sense of humor and even paused for a picture for my review on this establishment. Speaking of this business, it is a new addition to the restaurant the Virginia Beach area. It is connected to the Hampton Inn and is close to the Amusement Park on 15th street. This restaurant is also close to the boardwalk which is great for walking burning off the great food you will be consuming or consumed. When we return to the Virginia Beach area, we will be stopping by here again. We both hope the Coronavirus thing will be a thing of the past by then. read more

WU-TANG BRUNCH AINT NOTHING TO F$&@ WITH- I just wanna say I love Chichos in HICKORY, BUT as far as this location goes.... this was the most unorganized, awful poop show I've ever been to. I was there over 3 hours (with reservations that started before the event even) and they only brought half the food out and never got the other half out until two hours later? Claiming they had an error with their order tickets even though the whole order was put in at the same time. One of the staff members came to ask if we were okay and then realized half our table wasn't served - they then proceeded to explain what happened stating their tickets got messed up which was whatever- but what was not fine was the awful attitude....so I shrug off because I get it ...they were busy and overwhelmed with this event they have done numerous times.... Then we waited another hour for the other half of our table's food (I know that is just silly at this point)....When i finally decided to speak with one of the managers she has a horrible attitude with me and treated our waitress like trash over an error that was NOT her fault, then when I spoke to the manager's manager because that was not okay to treat the waitress the way she did, (yes I feel like a full "Karen" at this point) her manager didn't seem surprised as to the way this other manager treated us and then said he would comp our meal. After ANOTHER hour, they finally got the other half of the table's food out- that had to be boxed to go at this point because we had sitters with our kids waiting on us at this point, instead of being comped for the meal like promised they only gave us 25% off, charged us for an extra hoodie and then pulled automatic gratuities on not just the food they messed up, but on the retail purchases as well (event hoodies I requested before this whole situation). So of course after having them remove the extra $60 hoodie from the bill, I just paid it. I am a business owner myself so I understand stuff gets fucked up, but as far as the upper Management goes- follow through on your word. I'm not an asshole, hell I give too much leeway In these situations bc I understand from a business perspective, but Chichos yall fucked up the one time I try to plan something special for my big sis. I paid the check of $350+ dollars of food that was barely edible and cold when when got it, but man I feel like I just took a big ol' stick to the butthole. I should have known when there where no prices listed for the menu for the brunch items since this was a special event...:: I should've just taken my sis and her two friends to a five star restaurant at the Cavalier or anywhere else and saved myself the headache and the money for better quality food. I really felt awful for our poor waitress. They're the ones that always get shafted. Moral of this story..... DONT WASTE YOIR TIME ON CHICHOS 29th street. If they decide to make this right with our actual compensation then I'll remove this review along with my Facebook, Google, trip advisor, and yelp review... but since I decided to pay it without a complaint after being promised otherwise then I think it's only right for me to let others know how upset I am about this whole situation and that they shouldn't waste their hard earned money on overpriced food. Now, maybe they misinterpreted the instruction to only put slaw on half, but not having bbq sauce on my bbq pizza destroyed it.
