For years, I genuinely looked forward to eating that meal; when discussing where to meet with a group of people, I often suggested coming to Powwow with the specific intention of eating that meal. I returned again last Sunday, and though the menu seemed to have changed somewhat--the quesedilla no longer included salad, but came with tortillia chips instead. I ordered it nonetheless, assuming that the quesedilla itself would still be the same pan-fried delight, with or without the salad. What I got instead was a floppy cold white tortilla filled with what appeared to be guacamole and sour cream, with some pico de gallo on the side and a few tortilla chips. The tortilla itself had not, as far as I could tell, been fried in any way, shape, or form. "What happened to the veggies?", I thought. "What happened to the quesedilla?" "What is this?" Needless to say, I was appalled. The food was only partially edible at best, and I left most of the floppy white flour tortilla on the plate. I was at a loss for what to say, and despite nearly 10 years in Germany, I still can't bring myself to reply to the question "Hat's geschmeckt" with a more honest "Nein, gar nicht". So instead, I just finished the meal to the best of my abilities, and vowed to leave the place as fast as humanly possible. It was just so awful.
