We had a great experience with Chicago Speech Therapy (Jaclyn) in particular. We were on a waiting list for maybe 6 months with another place, and then when we called Chicago Speech Therapy we were able to get in quickly. Everyone there is super nice, and Jaclyn was able to give us some strategies to encourage our 2 1/2 year old to be more courageous with his speech. Our son loved going there (he called it "talkie school') and felt proud to have his progress reflected back to him, providing him with a natural incentive to communicate more, which in his case was all he needed. I first used Chicago Speech therapy about 3 years ago for my daughter. We had Karen as our actual therapist and was amazing. Extremely patient, yet stern with my then 2 yr old spirited daughter. She also showed up with a huge bag of toys each week so speech easily became my little one's favorite activity. She was definitely bummed when we parted ways due to our move to the burbs and because Karen didn't think she needed the speech therapy anymore. I sometimes worry that when you get a kid evaluated for speech, physical therapy, etc they'll pretty much take them even if they don't need it. However, this isn't the case with Chicago Speech Therapy because I had my son evaluated last summer and they quickly told me speech was not necessary for him. Three years later it was recommended that my now spirited 5 year old have speech for a lateral S. I called Karen hoping she would trek out o the burbs. While she's unable to come to the burbs herself, she sent us Natalie. Natalie is the speech therapist for a local middle school. I was a little worried after the evaluation because my daughter was not impressed when Natalie showed up without any of the games or toys she remembered from when she was a toddler. However, Natalie showed up equipped with some games the following week and they've been bet pals ever sense. All I have to say is that it's a speech day and my daughter literally runs out of school so eager to see Natalie. Natalie makes it such a fun 50 minutes for my daughter that she doesn't even realize she's working on her "s" sound. And when Natalie isn't around my daughter carries her speech binder with her everywhere practicing. Let's hope she's this dedicated w/ her homework a few years from now! I think Natalie herself has fun too because she once told me she can't believe she gets paid to play with my daughter. I'd likely pay her everyday to play with her! read more

I'm writing this review to say "thank you" for the staff and therapists at Chicago Speech Therapy. A little over a year ago, I dropped my son and his blankie off for the first time at CST and watched him outside the window as he tried to understand what was going on and where I had went. To say I wasn't concerned would be a lie. I watched them pull out bubbles, toy trains, and sing songs in attempt to calm him down and for a brief moment I thought, "Is this going to work"? Today, my son not only enjoys his time there, but he looks forward to going to school each day. He's developed so much during his time there. His speech has progressed and his willingness to engage with others has also improved tremendously. I can not express enough gratitude for what the school has done for my child, but hopefully this is a start. Thanks, CST! read more

Caitlin met with our daughter to resolve some articulation issues with 1-2 sounds for about a 6 month period. Before March, she conducted home visits, which was very convenient for us, and fun for my daughter. After March, we switched to therapy over Zoom, which remained effective, and fun for my daughter. When Caitlin believed that the issues had been addressed, she suspended the sessions, but scheduled a follow-up consultation to make sure that the corrections persisted. They did. In all interactions, Caitlin with Chicago Speech Therapy was kind and funny and supportive of our daughter. She built a rapport very quickly, and our daughter really looked forward to their weekly meetings. Caitlin even designed at-home activities for our daughter (including a science activity) that appealed to our daughter, and was very patient throughout. We absolutely recommend Caitlin and Chicago Speech Therapy for professionalism, ability to connect with children, and easy, strong communication. read more

We worked with Kristen - and couldn't have been happier! Detailed feedback was always provided throughout our son's sessions, which helped us stay engaged and working with him throughout the week. We had questions about progress and focus areas, a special discussion was arranged to look at the progress and goal. This was crucial for us to all stay aligned, and ensure we were working to accomplish a developmental step and not just going through the motions endlessly. From the time I called to set up our appointment to the last session Hannah had with our son, it was an amazing experience. Our two year old was having some issues speaking and I couldn't understand half of what he said 85% of the time. After working with Hannah, everyone was able to understand 90% of what he said...a vast improvement. She went to my son's daycare once a week for an hour and it really helped him enunciate more of his words and put sentences together. She worked with him for a few months but due to timing issues on my side we had to end his therapy early. Regardless, in the short time she spent with him he improved greatly. I would recommend these speech therapists to anyone. They really connect with your child, set goals early on and achieve them and make the entire experience effortless. read more

Kristen was my sons speech therapist for almost a year. She was amazing and I truly feel like she made a huge impact on his life. When she started with us, he was 20 months old. He was hardly even babbling, wouldn't make eye contact or respond to his name when called. Now at almost 3 he is an engaged little chatter box! When I had some concerns that my 20 month old son was a little behind in speech, my pediatrician strongly recommended Chicago Speech Therapy. I contacted them, and I was very impressed with their responsiveness and professionalism. We did an initial consultation, after which they determined my son's delay was so mild that he did not qualify for speech services (to my relief!) But they did recommend two "training" sessions, which we did with speech therapist Haley. Haley was GREAT. She was so sweet and warm to my son, and he is a relatively shy child, but he warmed up to her almost instantly. The progress he made after just two sessions was huge. I am so glad that I reached out to them and met with Haley a few times! read more

Our daughter was 18 months when she first started working with Jess. At that time she really struggled with communication, as she only had a few limited words. Her progress over the past 14 months has been significant, as she now can speak in sentences and understands so much. We have been extremely impressed with Jess, as she is very professional and knows her craft well. She has a very bright and cheery personality that our daughter was responded well to. She is extremely patient and has several different techniques to foster speech development. Although they have lots of fun together during their sessions, she also learns so much with all the toys and learning gadgets Jess brings with her. We have had several friends who have worked with speech therapists and none have had as positive experiences as us. My son was 3 when he started speech therapy with Katie Sloan. He was perfectly matched with her. She came to our home once a week for 45 minutes for 2 1/2 years. The one on one experience was ideal for my son who does better in small groups and especially with 100% attention focused on him. He is now almost 6, in Kindergarten, in a gifted program and no one has any idea he used to have speech issues. Her firm, yet fun demeanor is wonderful to keep kids on task yet helps them enjoy the sessions. My son looked forward to his time with Katie and considered it play time. What I didn't expect was after the pronunciation help came more advanced help with grammar. Many of what they worked on ended up being what he would need to know in Kindergarten and beyond. We are sad she is no longer a part of our weekly routine but was no longer needed since my son's speech has caught up to or surpassed his peers. We really enjoyed her help and getting to know her. Meredith, as well as her couple of interns with Chicago Speech Therapy, were wonderful for and with my 5 year old during his 10 months of speech therapy. He struggled with several sounds when he started, including s, sh, z, and th, and Meredith walked him through each of them with dedication and good humor. He loved his sessions with her! He felt supported and successful with her, and always came home feeling proud of himself (Meredith came to his preschool for the sessions). Meredith was also very supportive and reassuring of me as a parent, and always kept me updated with a detailed report after each session. When my son had reached all his goals, Meredith suggested we stop. He loved her so much that he insisted we continue another month or so until the end of the summer, which of course we did. Our experience with Meredith and Chicago Speech Therapy has been nothing but positive. I will not hesitate to get in touch with them when and if my younger son wants to work on his lisp :) It's way too cute right now though. read more

I can not thank Chicago Speech Therapy enough as when I started my 2.5 year old son was roughly 1 year behind in speech, and today he is above average. The results started instantly. We worked with Heidi who is amazing I can not say enough great things about her professionalism her patience, and her expertise in working with children. Prior to Chicago Speech Therapy I had used another highly touted competitor and had very poor results. Once I switched over I told my wife that it was like comparing a Ferrari to Kia. Not only were we impressed but our son Andrew loved his classes and he looked forward to seeing Heidi every week. He no longer attends sessions as they were able to do such a great job that he no longer needs speech, he does however miss his sessions. My son had speech therapy twice weekly for over a year. We initially started with one therapist but as she moved on to greener pastures we were assigned Alyssa. They were both fantastic and the transition was seamless. Alyssa was always very good with my son and with us as his parents. She communicated well and was an absolute delight to work with. When the pandemic first began and there were lockdown orders, we had a month or so without speech therapy. In that time we really realized its value as my son's language skills he had developed, regressed. Luckily in person sessions resumed and we couldn't have been happier with his progress. From the start, everyone that I've dealt with at Chicago Speech Therapy has been so helpful and nice! I started looking up private speech therapists in the area once Early Intervention could no longer service my daughter because of the age limit. 3 yrs ago, my daughter began receiving in home speech therapy with Mandy and am sad to say that tomorrow is our last session with her because we've moved to the burbs. On the upside, we will still be able to stay with them as they were able to accommodate us and our schedule (as always)! They have therapists that will come to the nearby Chicago suburbs which is really nice. I'm confident that her new therapists will provide the same excellent service that we've had for the past 3 yrs. Back to Mandy, she's such a joy to work with and she's done so much for my daughter Kaela. Kaela has speech apraxia, so with therapy, she's been striving and getting better every day! Kaela went from not being able to say a sentence to telling stories! The joy and emotion that comes from my daughter just brings me to tears. The connection that they have is also so sweet. Mandy always uses techniques that really engage Kaela even when she's not working at her best. I genuinely see the care and love that she puts into her work and for that I will be forever grateful. She's extremely accommodating with schedules, patient & always gives us great "homework" that we could apply in our daily lives. We began working with Chicago Speech Therapy last year for our (4 yo) son who was behind his peers in his expressive language skills and we've been so impressed. They sent a couple of people out to our home to explain the process and the program, then we were assigned a therapist based upon our desired therapy times. We quickly started in-home (and later in-school) therapy with Carli Weiler. I can't say enough about how excellent Carli was in working with our son. Even though he had issues focusing, sitting still and staying on task, Carli was able to break-through and engage him through the use of play and rewards. My son has just completed his last session with Carli (just 7 months later) and his ability to communicate and express himself has changed his behavior and general demeanor. He is now more confident, no longer aggressive in play and more outgoing. We had a wonderful experience with Chicago Speech Therapy and Carli Weiler specifically. Highly recommend! read more

Kelly from Chicago Speech Therapy was absolutely incredible. I was a little hesitant to start speech therapy because my daughter was only 21 months, but it was life changing- seriously!! My daughter used to scream and get so frustrated that she couldn't communicate, and Kelly changed all that in two short months. Kelly came to our house once a week, and she was all sunshine and energy! Kelly taught my daughter how to get excited about communicating and completely opened her up! My daughter said less than 10 words at 18 months and within two months, Kelly had my daughter saying at least 70 words (yes, we kept a list) and 2/3 words together. And every day, our daughter continues to grow! The other day she randomly just said "bless you" after I sneezed! She would never have been able to do it without Kelly. Kelly was patient with my daughter and knew the right amount to push her. My daughter loved when she came to "play!" Kelly also taught me how to work with our daughter. Every week we worked on a different phrase, and it really worked. I can't say enough good things about Kelly and the program. I highly, highly recommend! read more

I called CST when my daughter was about 20 months as I felt like she knew words but could use some extra help with verbalizing. Meredith worked with my daughter from when she was 21 months to age 2 for about 5-6 months and in that time period, my daughter's language ability exploded. My daughter went from saying tons more words to phrases and then sentences in a very short period of time. It is extremely easy to communicate with my daughter now. In addition, Meredith provided me with a thorough summary of my daughter's progress each week and was also flexible on times and locations when needed. Our daughter had several physical, development delays in her first year, slow to crawl, slow to walk, etc., so we were doing quarterly assessments. And just before she turned 2, concerns were raised about her speech in one of those assessments. Chicago Speech Therapy was one of several services recommended, but we honestly never even talked to the others, after we met Karen George. We were just so comfortable with all the materials she presented, the approach she described, and most importantly, her interaction with our daughter. Karen matched us with Ms Carli. And she was amazing! At the first evaluation, she just had an immediate connection with our daughter. She agreed to doing sessions each week at daycare, and on the date/time we picked. We appreciated that flexibility! Because we weren't at the sessions, Ms Carli always did a good job of providing us with status. And suggested to us when it might be good to attend to see progress, or scheduled time to call us and discuss status updates. The sessions were so much fun, with toys and iPad games. Things we could continue at home. When Ms Carli walked in the room, our daughter would run to her, she loves Ms Carli. Physical therapy hadn't always been that easy, and I really credit that to her therapist. We are amazed by the results. After just 3-4 months, our now two and half year old went from saying fewer than 10 words to full sentences. The struggles we were having because she couldn't communicate what she wanted and needed are gone.
