Here's a hint to all the staff, if a Doctor is not competent enough to help a patient presenting with challenging symptoms then I suggest you do not refer them to said Doctor. The duration of this visit with him was absolutely horrendous. He appeared very self conscious and unconfident in helping my wife. He wouldn't take accountability for the fact that he was unsure of what he was doing and persisted that my wife decide whether or not he was able to treat her. His approach was basically "Take it, or leave it". My wife has been seeing neurologists unfortunately for quite some time. Neither her nor I ever met a "Doctor" with such poor knowledge of his own field. We went in with our hopes high of establishing care with a new neurologist and walked out speechless and shaken. Zhang has poor bedside manners. I wouldn't recommend anyone taking their loved ones to see this excuse of a Doctor. What a waste of a day and money. Poor excuse of a neurologist

That being said, I've been suffering from a migraine headache for a while. Just one big, long, nasty migraine that won't go away! After all kinds of tests done by my GP, he suggested that I see Dr. DeSanto. At our initial visit, she took at least 20 minutes talking to me, trying to pinpoint the exact cause of what's going on in my head. After discussion, we BOTH decided that medication would be a great start to kicking this in the butt. Two and a half weeks later, still not feeling good, and am having nasty side effects from the meds. I called her office, and she wasn't in. Next day, SHE called me back to ask what was up. Changed my meds. Two weeks after this call, I call again. Nasty side effects, still not cutting it on the feeling better side either. Called her, and her office had her call me back personally. We chatted for about 5 minutes, and decided to try one more. I've never had a doctor that calls me back personally, and takes the time to listen to what I have to say. For this reason alone, she gets five stars. I would give her five more for the pure fact that she's excellent at what she does, has terrific bedside manner, and is an overall awesome person.

I ended up getting admitted and going into a room My room was at the end of the hall, and it was very quiet I was there for two days, and I have nothing but good things to say. The cleaning people and food people would leave the room and say "hope you feel better" every time .... Their attitudes made a bad situation a little better Kudos!

As siblings and veterans we had previously discussed organ donation and I respected his wishes not to donate. His nurses were great.

He performs surgery out of Hinsdale Advocate Hospital which is an excellent hospital with an even more excellent staff. Prior to seeing Dr. Kazan, I was told by 4 different neurosurgeons, 2 at Duke and 2 at Northwestern, that I needed a triple cervical fusion. Obviously I didn't accept that or I would not have gone to 4 surgeons for an opinion. Dr. Kazan was finally recommended to me by a friend who seemed to have a similar issue with the same result that I had. Dr. Kazan looked at my MRI that all the other doctors looked at and said to me "you don't need fusions yet, you just have a bone spur." I guess it's about the money for many other surgeons!!! A week later I had my minimally invasive surgery. I had no pain after surgery in the hospital, no pain when I returned home and absolutely no pain since the surgery, which was 4-1/2 years ago. This doctor is all about doing the right thing, not about how much more money and notoriety he can achieve by performing an expensive, unnecessary procedure. I only wish he would be around the next 10 years for when I need another spinal surgery. I would go to no-one else but him.
