Points for cleanliness and promptness on day of appointment…read more The actual patient experience left a lot to be desired. I had recently switched my OB due to a move and he sent me over to this facility for my 32 week ultrasound. On arrival, I was promptly escorted back to a room by the tech. The tech did not introduce herself or make any effort to make me feel comfortable beyond instructing me to lay on the exam bed. At my previous facility, they had a screen on the wall so that my husband and I could see the ultrasound in progress. This was not the case here and the tech did not turn her screen towards me. My husband said he could barely see anything as well. She did not make any effort to take the initiative to explain how the visit would go. I finally asked if I would be able to see the screen for a glimpse of the baby we were so looking forward to. She curtly said that she has a "lot of pictures to take" and would show me when she was done. The rest of the ultrasound was spent in silence. The techs at my previous facility would explain what they were doing and make small talk. We didn't hear any heartbeat. After she got the images she needed, she did turn the screen and let us see. The baby was turned in a not great position and she did not go above and beyond to get a better angle. We barely saw anything. We got four print outs of the ultrasound on which pretty much nothing is clear, whereas my previous facility would provide entire rolls. I work in healthcare and am very aware of what good patient care is versus subpar and this was definitely the latter. The tech made no effort to involve myself or my husband in the visit or to generally connect with us as people beyond what task she needed to perform. I realize that this is a general imaging place, and doesn't specialize in all the fuzzy feelings an OB centered place would be more apt at, but I can't imagine coming here and experiencing such cold treatment if I was worried over the health of my baby or if there was any other health issues I would be needing imaging for. At the front desk, I noted a sign stating that they would provide a $5 Starbucks or Dunkin' gift card in exchange for a good review, which is a red flag as well. Good reviews should come from excellent care of the patients a facility serves, not the prospect of receiving a gift card.

Unfortunately, I can't actually review their services. I made an appointment for an MRI over 2…read moreweeks out, the orders were sent before they would schedule with appointment, so they HAD the orders from the doctors. The day before the appointment the radiology tech called to cancel my appointment because they don't do the tests on the orders from the doctor. I'm unsure why the appointment was even made given they reviewed the order at the time I made the appointment. It made things very tough because I had a date for surgery and surgeon needed to review the images to make a plan.

I am writing this review based on the experience I had with my 80 year old mother. She had hip…read morereplacement surgery in early October 2016. From the initial office consultation, through surgery and into the follow-up visit with the doctor, all of the Hinsdale Orthopedics staff we encountered were terrific. I hesitate to name some of the staff specifically, because they were all professional, helpful and courteous, but I offer 3 in particular. Katie: during the initial office visit in August and the follow up visit in late October, Katie was knowledgeable, caring and patient. She answered all of our questions carefully and made my mom feel like she was a VIP. You can tell when someone takes pride in their work - that's Katie. Judy: working behind the scenes, Judy took care of all of the scheduling details. But more importantly, she took the time to check on progress and results. In the critical week before surgery, she noted that the labs facility (not affiliated with their office) had not followed through on the lab orders correctly. She alerted me so I could get my mom's labs taken care of so we didn't lose the surgery date. Kudos to Judy for great communications and taking the time to care about us. Dr. Alden: doctor made my mom feel at ease with his easy-going manner. Once he established that surgery was the best course of action, he made it clear that the timeline was entirely up to us - absolutely no pressure. He carefully explained her options, fully answered our questions and discussed the expectations of surgery. Interaction at the hospital and follow-up at the office was likewise caring and patient. We have no other experience to compare to. This was the first joint replacement surgery in our immediate family. But without hesitation, we would recommend Dr. Alden and his excellent staff. As I write this, mom is 3 weeks and 3 days post-surgery. For the most part, she has graduated from the walker and is using the cane around the house, becoming more independently mobile every day. Prior to surgery, she had very significant bone-on-bone pain. Her pain is now limited to minor muscle pain as she gets adapted to her new hip and increased mobility. The prognosis is for zero pain in the very near future. Thank you Dr. Alden for giving my mom a new period in her life of increased mobility and much less pain.

Dr Alden did a good job with my knee replacement. However, PROBLEM was my rehab went off the rails…read moreand he's partially to blame because he did a Manipulation Under Anesthesia without asking any questions why I wasn't progressing fast enough. The therapist (ATI) recommended by Hinsdale Orthopedics was totally incompetent but I was JUST getting my range of motion back and the MUA caused swelling putting me back to square one. Had he not done that, I would've gotten my ROM back. Insurance dropped me because I "wasn't making progress". I fell into deep depression as I was an extreme athlete and now I'm a cripple with a cane.
