I am am strong believer in taking care of myself and sharing my experience so others can do the same. I have been visiting this place for years. I started with a dotolo colonic, which means I have a therapist to assist me and massage my abdomen during the procedure. I have since graduated to the libbe colonic with no assistance and it is much more private. My body feels lighter after cleansing/emptying my intestines. So I sip bone broths and drink teas. The ozone sauna or oxygen pod is also great; you sit naked on a towel as your pores are bathed in pure oxygen and expels toxins. It feels hot like a steam bath and only your head sticks out. It lasts for 30 minutes if you can handle it. I love the infrared sweat bed; another form of detoxing the body. You are fully clothed with socks as you lay on a fully lined sauna bed for 55 minutes. My first colonic was a success! My Hydrotherapist was Edita and she was very professional and helped make me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. My cleanse was yesterday and today I took a look at my stomach and noticed I no longer have that small puff (bloated look). I do not feel bloated either. This experience has motivated me to live a healthier life. I can't wait to go back Saturday for my second cleanse. Edita stated the first cleanse normally doesn't release a lot of toxins, it isn't until your second cleanse where you start to see some real release. But for my first session I released a lot of toxins and she said I did very well for my first time. A little about the details, I did a closed system, which basically means the hydrotherapist is in the room with you the entire time. Open system you perform the colonic yourself. Edita talked to me the whole time and she also massaged my stomach to help the flow of water through my colon. There is slight discomfort because you have the feeling of wanting to poo when she fills your colon with water, but this is a good thing because the warm water is flowing through your colon and breaking up all those years of toxins building up in the pockets of your colon. You get to see the stuff come out of you in that machine on the wall. It's kind of gross but it's a lesson to learn what stuff we hold in our bodies and possibly could motivate you to eat healthier foods. After 30 mins I couldn't take it anymore and needed to go to the toilet and handle business if you know what I mean. Edita removed the speculum from my rectum and left the room for me to use the toilet that is in the room. I know this is gross but for those who want to know I am letting you know, when you get on that toilet you are letting out whatever water that was left in your colon including the other crap your colon has. After you are done releasing, you put your undies and pants back on and go speak with the hydrotherapist. She gave me a probiotic and also suggested I eat light for the rest of the day. Something like soup or a light salad. Since my colon has been cleaned I want to NOT eat any rich or heavy foods. Sometimes, when you start getting older, things just don't work as well as they used to, know what I mean? I went to CIC earlier to this week because I've been experiencing "blockage" issues for a few weeks. I went to my PCP first, but since I already knew that they weren't going to do anything for me, I booked a closed-system treatment immediately after my doctor appointment. Sure enough, my PCP told me to drink prune juice and get more fiber and told me to "wait and see", even though I had just explained that I had been drinking 1.5 gallons of water and taking OTC meds every day for 2 weeks prior. Literally, I already *did* "wait and see" after doing all the diy and home remedies after 2 weeks. I was only at the doctors office so that I could get whatever treatment you get after "wait and see" doesn't work. Anyway, i just went on to my appointment at CIC as planned, and I had a wonderful therapist and I explained to her what was happening. She was gentle, empathetic and very professional. I've had the closed-system therapy before, so I knew there would be some discomfort, but there was no pain at all. I felt some relief afterwards, but after a few days still experiencing blockage, I booked a follow-up appointment. I have just returned from my follow-up closed-system appointment, and I feel GREAT! I knew i might possibly need more than one session to get things working, and it did! I had the other therapist this time, and she was also very knowledgeable and understanding. She gave me a lot of very good nutritional advice. Not exactly sure how you got that I was traveling internationally the day of! The city of Chicago quarantine applies to 15 states and not international travel. I recently heard about the new FIR Infrared sweat bed at CIC and decided I'd give it a try (why not). Prior to my appointment I had many questions about what to expect and how to prepare. Both Tina and Edita were so helpful and patient in providing me help with all my questions. On the day of my appointment, I was extremely tired and worn out. Going into my session I thought I'd be completely wiped out after the session.... how wrong I was! When I arrived, Tina greeted me and showed me to the room and went through everything again with me. She was great in getting me set-up. The room was private and extremely clean. The bed was set-up and I was able to watch TV (if I wanted). There was lemon water that I could drink thought it my session. Tina checked in on me just the right amount of times and each time asked if I needed more water and how I was feeling. The first part of my session was so relaxing I really felt like I could fall asleep. Halfway though the session things started to heat up! Just as I was really feeling the heat, Tina came in with cold towel infused with lavender and put on my forehead .... AMAZING!! At the end of my session, I was drenched with sweat like I'd just had an intense workout. I was given more water and fresh orange slices (delicious). Upon leaving, I felt amazing! I felt energized and not at all tired. My body felt light and my mind clear. The rest of my day I felt great and slept better than I had in awhile. This was one of the best new treatments I have tried in a long time... I am already ready to go back!! I highly recommend this service and CIC!! I've been to this clinic a few times and each time I've gotten Edita. This place is unique in that they offer both the open and closed type systems and I've tried both. The closed system is a Dotolo Toxygen. The speculums that they use are pretty comfortable after the initial sensation. The open system is the Libbe and the tube is a little different than the closed system. On to the cleanse details... I've found that both open and closed systems are good for getting everything cleaned out, but each one feels slightly different. The benefit to having the open system is that you have a little bit more privacy to release without having another person in the room, but with the closed system you get the benefit of having therapist help you with each release. read more

Usually the procedure is only mildly uncomfortable during the initial... ...ummmm.... ...shall I just say the "beginning", although I once had one that reminded me to avoid prison at all costs. Not here! Chicago Internal Cleansing, or "C.I.C." is one of the finer medical spas in the city. It is not thankfully, a new-agey place where you hold crystals and chant, and listen to plinky-plinky music while your butt is hosed out. Thankfully there is no "hard sell" of various products or other services. (That's for you, Ruby Room!) Located on the fourth floor of the north end of the Carbide Building that also houses the Hard Rock Hotel (insert irony here) the offices are soothing and most importantly, immaculate. CIC offers both the closed and the open system of internal cleansing, along with an oxygen sauna thingy that I am not too familiar with. Frankly, I have not had a colonic using the "open system" because it sounded too scary, but after seeing the actual device and hearing the explanation of how it works, I'd give it a try next time. So, yeah, I try to do this whenever I am in town. Ideally, a series of them. Conveniently, CIC offers a package where you get a discount. Five for $360. Money well spent, and after four I still have one in the well. The equipment is state of the art, and anything that you come in contact with is disposable and "single use" only. Both ladies that work there, Edita and Kimberly, are professional, GENTLE, and both literally radiate good heath. I've seen this healthy glow before in other colon hydrotherapists. You don't need to convince me that removing the toxins that build up in your ass has a lot to do with that look. It may have something to do with your liver super-purifying itself once your colon is completely empty, as opposed to a slower release of the nasties your liver is supposed to get rid off. (I suppose its like flushing your radiator or something.) Disclaimer; The following part of this review may not be suitable for younger audiences. Still here? -OK.! Colonic #1 with Edita. Punctual. The "delicate" part of the procedure was fast and painless. The results were good, but I knew that we were only scratching the surface. Colonic #2 with Edita. Three days later. I know for a fact that I did NOT eat that much in the last few days. Where is this shit coming from? Colonic #3 with Edita. An obvious change in what floats through the glass tube. During the fill and massage, I actually felt something inside me spasm (not painfully, just surprisingly) and the result was pretty impressive. But in my heart, or in my colon perhaps, I knew that there was something else lurking in there. And whatever it was, perhaps the gum I swallowed in grade school, or my sister's Barbie doll's head from 40 years ago, was becoming aware of it's inevitable fate. But it was stubborn. It was evil. The demon refused to leave. Colonic #4 with Kimberly. If there is such a thing as the "break through colonic", this was it. I almost wanted to shout "THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!!!!" as what appeared to be a combination as asphalt and old bicycle tires blasted out of my system. I had a colonic once before many years ago with a family friend who could do the procedure. She was somewhat aggressive, which is not so great when she's controlling a tube going up my butt. But she didn't scare me so much that I didn't see the value on colonics. After reading reviews of all the colonic treatment centers in the city of Chicago or close by, I chose this one. I was received by Kimberley. At first I was very nervous because Kimberley was very "in my face" and excited about meeting me and bringing me into the room. I'm not sure it was her personality or just my own nervousness about sharing this personal experience with her, who i didn't know at all. Once I got myself set up, invited her back in to help with the process, and we began the flow of water into my rectum, I just decided to relax and let it be. Then I felt more comfortable with her, and maybe she relaxed too, seeing I had relaxed. She was very sensitive to how personal and intimate the experience was for me, verbally and in body language. She was supportive and also knew when to leave the room and give me my space. I had waves of nausea coming and going, and once I got the hang of the occasional intensity, I could look over at the tube to my side with all the stuff coming out of my body from the flush. I felt I was actually learning spiritual lessons of sticking through something scary with myself. As the most intense waves of nausea rushed at me, I worked to keep my heart open and be present, rather than squirm and try to resist the unpleasant feelings. And every time I released the water - what a relief! At the end of the treatment I paid (a very fair price by the way) and took the probiotics they offer freely after the treatment. Walking to the train to ride home (it was evening), I immediately noticed my groundedness and centeredness and sense of peace within. i genuinely felt different, with all these toxins having been removed. I felt AMAZING!! This was last night. I am still feeling quite cleansed. Also, i think I released a lot my first time (bile and solids and who knows what else) because I am currently on a week long liver/gallbladder cleansing diet which basically consists of simple, unprocessed foods, without fried food, excess sugar, or animal products. So that probably helps with productivity. Even though I feel like I got a LOT out, I do think there's more lurking in there. My appointment lasted about thirty minutes longer because I was expected to know when AND how to turn the machine off, so I irrigated a bit longer than usual. Since my appointment was near closing time, I was rushed out. Not only was that not cool, it wasn't responsible. Morals of the story: Don't put your colon in the hands of people who are not properly trained. Do your homework and ask questions. Chicago Internal Cleansing is a very clean, welcoming space and Edita and Kimberly are very kind and do their very best to put you at ease. I was nervous and Edita was so sweet and professional that I felt calm as soon as she set me up. This was my first colonic and they explained that a package would be cheaper, so I signed up. I am recovering from chronic illness so this was not a spa treatment for me. I was disappointed at the lack of information when I asked different questions or reported certain experiences during and after the colonic. They would just say everything is great, you are doing great, but I wanted to know more about the process and how this improved the health of my colon. After two appointments where they knew my health history they still suggested I try the open system. I was told this was their favorite method and I agreed to try it. Turns out this is the favorite method because the colon hydrotherapist doesn't do much at all during the treatment. The client does everything. I tried this method and given my vascular issues it was uncomfortable and caused swelling after from the bearing down. In the closed system the hydrotherapist does everything. The closed system also is the only system that truly exercises the colon so it will function better and return to its original shape over time. The open system felt like a glorified enema and the results were much less effective. But, they can schedule two different rooms at once this way because it requires less attention and time from the colon hydrotherapist. Once I realized that they had suggested this method against what was best for me as a client and towards what was more convenient for them, I lost trust in the process. They happily agreed to return to the closed system for my next treatment (I had to finish out my package I purchased). I have to say they didn't push the open treatment on me as much as suggest it and encourage me towards choosing it, but I was relying on their guidance; it made me feel as if they were trying to make money at the expense of me receiving the best treatment possible and that is never something you want to feel when dealing with your health. I've since found an amazing place with 90 minute treatments, slower uptake of water so it soaks the colon more thoroughly, and I-ACT certified instructor level hydrotherapists, a level which requires many more hours of experience and education. Chicago Internal Cleansing is great if you want a little touch up, you're curious, or your just want a spa treatment. I've been getting colonics for years to help deal with IBS, so when I came here, I was not new to the procedure. That said, my first time here was during a pretty painful attack. I could barely walk and was in a great deal of pain. Called the number and was given an appointment for that same day. The whole experience was, well.... more intense than usual. But Kimberly was great through the whole thing. She seems very patient and kind, which is key for something so intimate. That was a month ago. I wish I could say that one session and I was cured, but that's not the way my condition works. I felt great afterward, but eventually, the symptoms reappear. My latest session was with Kimberly again, yesterday. She was still very nice and knowledgeable. She also remembered our last session, which is great, cause I don't feel like just another number. All in all, this place is not as upscale as some others in the city. But it is clean and quiet and feels very cozy. They do not offer a great many services, just hydrotheapy and oxygen sauna (which I mean to try). They also do not try to up sell a bunch of supplements or services that you don't need. The office is small and simple but really how extravagant does it need to be? You can purchase packages or do individual sessions. Edita is the woman I work with and she is a doll! So sweet and great to talk to. She's very helpful with healthy eating tips and habits, juicing and other organic things to help with digestion etc. so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! She's very gentle and makes you feel welcomed and not awkward at all.
