If you have the slightest interest in Ballroom Dance this is the place to be!! Studio can accomodate dancers of all levels! Staff is knowledgeble, enthusiastic, and personable. I was a dreamer with a goal that I believed to be unattainable. I thought that it was to late for me to begin a dance career and, for fear of having this concept affirmed, was always reluctant to so much as walk into a dance studio. I was my biggest obstacle, but eventually i stirred up the courage to walk into a ballroom studio - and it was Chicago Dance. I came into the studio with no form of dance training, spoke with the studio owner (Tommye G.), told her what my goals were, and she was able to help me develop a plan to help me reach those goals. This review is for their Irving Park location. The classes are well organized and prices are reasonable. If you miss a class, its not a probalem. You can catch up during the first few minutes of the following classes during which all moves are reviewed. You can also use your unused credit for another class which allows you to have a taste of another dance style if you are unsure about what it is you want to pursue. For those that have no clue about what type of dances they would enjoy, I highly recommend Dancing for Every Occasion classes which introduces you to a new form of dance every week so you can figure out what you enjoy best. It is also a breeze to setup private classes with them which are also fairly priced. A very nice group of instructors to work with. read more

I started dancing at Chicago Dance in April and haven't stopped since! I've really enjoyed my dance experience there. I started with East coast swing and continued with West coast swing with Jeff Sterner. Therefore, this review refers to my specific experience in these two classes. Overall, I have to say nice location, friendly staff and, most importantly, great instructor. Jeff is very professional and makes sure to take into account each student's needs while managing a group class. Chicago Dance only offers two levels (beginners and intermediate), but repeating the intermediate class twice or more never felt boring, since Jeff helped me work to improve my level every time adding new fun variations and details. My now husband and I had zero prior dance experience so we decided to take private dance lessons to prepare for our first dance at our wedding. Andrew, our dance instructor at Chicago Dance, was incredible! He beautifully choreographed our first dance to our chosen song, and ensured we were comfortable, at ease, and most importantly- having fun. It was a great experience, and needless to say- we executed our first dance flawlessly at our wedding. Our guests were cheering- they loved it! I spent my summer taking Salsa and Swing classes at Chicago Dance. I wish I would have done this ten years ago! I met so many amazing people and gained new friendships along the way. Salsa with Natasha was a blast! She is very patient and approachable. She made learning such a fun experience! East and West Coast Swing with Jeff was definitely my favorite. Jeff's teaching style is relaxed yet engaging. His warm personality puts everyone in his classes at ease. He made it okay for us to laugh at ourselves and just have fun. I used Chicago dance for my recent wedding for my daddy/daughter dance and my first dance with my husband. Vaneza from the dance studio choreographed both dances from start to finish. Not only is she incredibly talented, but also fast! We would go months between lessons and she would remember every step. It was amazing. We felt like family for the few months we were using the dance studio- Eric at the front desk was extremely nice, inclusive and accommodating. I looked for a dance school for a while as I used to dance when I was young but don't have a partner to dance with. I decided to try Chicago Dance because to was close to work and offered a wide range of dance styles. I had a private lesson with Gregory Day (owner and champion) and he gauged my ability perfectly in just 1 hour. After that I became an unlimited member and attend 2-4 classes a week. The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and fun, I really enjoy the classes. And the other great thing: all the ladies are rotated around the guys - perfect if you don't have a partner like me! Sarah and I revel over our investment in Chicago Dance. Greg and Natasha had a very high bar by which we measured dance instructors... and they have certainly surpassed those expecations. Our love of ballroom dance -suspended for 8 years- is renewed and exalted through Chicago Dance. We've been dancing again for 6 months with Greg and intend to continue indefinitely...so much to learn... Great exercise! Concomitant improvement in aerobic, strength and flexibility. My husband and I had never learned to dance. Our son was getting married and we decided to take dance lessons. We were very nervous and thought that we would not be able to learn, at least not enough to dance at the wedding. We signed up for lessons at Chicago Dance and were lucky to have Sasha as our teacher. Thanks to Sasha and her lovely personality we were comfortable within 15 minutes and learned a lot over the next several weeks. I felt great dancing with my son for the mother son dance. Excellent! Amazing! Teresa at Chicago Dance is the absolute best dance teacher, and I've seen 4-5 other teachers at other studios. If you garnered up the courage for a first spin and feel a little awkward she will help you feel at ease. If you are more advanced she will work some extra moves with you so you feel you are learning new tricks. I've seen singles, couples, everyone here is having great fun. Very relaxed atmosphere, very nice teachers, students and staff. This is my third class at Chicago Dance with Teresa and I will sign up for more. Awesome. read more

You have never danced before ? It's time to start now and this school will make you a dancer. I've been taking bachata classes for more that a year- i already brought a lot of my friends to the school and would recommend everyone to join us (dancers). Becoming a dancer is opening a new chapter in your life, a new side of you spirit. I like the aura in the school, masters (teachers) are skilled and nice. But there is still one thing that can improved - put more mirrors to bachata class, we really want to watch our style, especially girls :) read more

I just moved to the Chicago area and have always wanted to do ballroom dance. I use to dance ballet but wanted to try something else out. I looked at a bunch of studios in the Chicago area and to be honest I don't remember what drew me to Chicago Dance. However I am glad, for what ever reason, I chose it. They teach all styles and the instructors are great. I can't afford private lessons but the instructors are good at tailoring the group classes so that they fit everyones levels into it. I was in Chicago for a wedding and wanted to brush up on basic dance moves and the studio took very good care of me so I was able to dance the night away with anyone, be it traditional or Latin style. The studio is bright and clean and my instructor was perfectly professional. Also, I showed up without the proper shoes and they loaned me a pair that fit so I could follow through properly with the instruction. I've taken several group classes there and have loved them all! Everyone on the staff is friendly and courteous. They have a fully stocked fridge of water bottles which is much appreciated after dancing for a while. As for the class, I learned so much very quickly. We always start and end on time, and Carrie does a great job juggling students of all different levels so that we all have something to work on but aren't over our heads. My wife and I have been taking classes at Chicago Dance for over a year. After visiting multiple studios we couln't find one that we liked, mostly because of the difficulty in getting the right instructor. When we started taking classes with Stan Revin, we loved it. We've attended Chicago Dance all summer, taking 7 classes and each was amazing. In particular, Jeff Sterner is an excellent teacher of both East and West Coast Swing. He is patient and encouraging with my two left feet, and gives nuanced pointers for my experienced dance partner to really get the most out of her talent. Our experience at Chicago Dance has been great! We started a few weeks ago with an introduction class (through a Groupon) and just signed up for the next session. The teacher knows his stuff but breaks it down to be easy, fun and understandable. The rest of the staff has been friendly, helpful and very accommodating to reschedule. Love this studio space and the teachers! My partner and I are learning to dance so we can properly cut a rug at his daughter's wedding...plus he will now know how to lead when he dances with his daughter, the bride. We have been to Chicago Dance twice and have enjoyed it so much both times. This is my partner's first time ever dancing and he is catching on with the help of our teacher. Heather with Chicago Dance choreographed our entire first dance and she has been an absolutely marvelous instructor. We could not be happier and highly recommend Chicago Dance to everyone.
