American breakfast
Skyler W.

And there we were, brunching again. This time we decided to invite some friends along with us. We'd be recommended Chicago Café by another friend a while back as being the best brunch spot in Brussels. Always skeptical after previous "best brunch spots," we decided to give it a shot. Making reservations can be such a headache. We had tried to call the previous weekend to reserve a table for the next weekend, but no one answers the phone. When they did, albeit a previous attempt, the quickly sprouted, "Werefullallweekendbye," before the click of the line disconnecting. Ultimately we happened to be in the area, and made a reservation in person. The three of us all ordered American breakfasts. I typically order something I cannot make at home when I go to a brunch place, but this time I figured I'd see if they could pull off an American breakfast. They couldn't. My eggs were still runny, not the yolk, but the white. The pancakes weren't hot, so the slab of butter didn't melt on them. Meh. The whole thing was really mid. To top this off, we also ordered a round of mimosas. I'm not sure if the bottle of bubs (which clearly wasn't champagne I might add) had been opened all morning and had gone flat, or they're putting white wine in there, but the wife agreed as well that it was pretty much orange juice. Wouldn't go back. Underwhelming. However... The reason it doesn't get two starts it's that the price of the breakfast was only 15€. Had it had been more, it would have been two.

The restaurant has a great upbeat atmosphere and friendly staff. The food selection is great and the food itself is too. The restaurant is a bit pricey but I would definitely recommend coming here!

Chicago is a hipster cafe around St. Catherine. On a weekday morning around 11, it was pretty much deserted, and was easy to grab a table. It's low-key and colorful in a way that reminds me of some spots in Two Bridges in New York, like Dimes or Jajaja. Unfortunately, they only do brunch on weekends, so our options were limited to breakfast or lunch. We got two different sandwiches (11 euro each) that were fairly basic but hit the spot. The brie and apple was nice. We only had menus with French and Flemish so that was a bit difficult. Prices are pretty high-- I would expect to spend 15 euros on food here. What made the experience for me was the speculoos latte (3.50 euro), which was deliciously creamy and lightly sweet. I was bouncing along all day. Service was meh. Cash only. This is a fun brunch spot if you're in the neighborhood, though I wouldn't expect incredible food.

Great cafe with lots of seating, breakfast was great! Had a lovely fruit salad which consisted of many types of fruits such as pomegranates and mango, yum! I also had a chocolate croissant and a cappuccino which was lovely as well. Service was quick and I don't have a single thing bad to say about it. **Tip you can ask for an English menu they have one!

Looking for a place to have breakfast in Brussels and came across this place. The reviews were great so we wanted to give it a try! The food was excellent & friendly staff. Definitively a place to try if your in the area!

The service here is excellent. We really enjoyed how nice the people who work here were. This restaurant is definitely child friendly and has so much they can play with. I loved the breakfast and the cappuccinos!

First try. Just drinks. Ordered the house lemonade. It was refreshing and big. They have a fair menu (typical dishes), at this point if you are looking for food feedback, I would advice the read the other reviews, since we haven't eaten here. There is enough seating, free wifi and an ample choice of beverages (coffees, tea, alcohols, soda). This could become another hot spot. Give a few more weeks (open for 2 weeks now) for the staff to get some experience (had to wait a bit on 1 drink + paying was not as easy as it would seem for a 4 EUR drink) and find their flow and you got yourself a good new trendy place for brunch/lunch/dinner and drinks. The interior is inspired on trendy vintage design features with white painted brick walls. It give the place a hip Bruxellois feeling. Looking forward to come test the dinner menu with friends.

French Toast with Roasted Banana

Great breakfast place. The decor and atmosphere are on point. There's a good selection of different foods to choose from. I ordered French Toast with roasted bananas which was very good. Also highly recommend getting a milkshake. The banana milkshake was probably the best milkshake I have ever had in my life. It was a thinner consistency and a good blend of the milk and banana flavors.

The American2, waffle, and soft shell egg.

Friendly and attentive servers. Really tasty food. The best freshly squeezed orange juice you'll ever have.

The staff were very friendly here and the service was great. We sat outside as it was really warm and had a beer. Me and my partner were starting to get hungry so we shared a burger and chips it was really nice the burger it's self was a little undercooked for me but we did say medium so was my own fault should have said medium well. They gave us some home made hummus and bread to start and that was really nice. I would definitely go back as I liked the bar, the food and the staff were really friendly.

Menu looks good!

Nice discovery walking along Rue de Flandre looking for a spot in the sun. The small terrace in front is great for people watching and soaking up a few rays. It also looks nice inside- big and bright and airy. The whole place has a funky mix and match/second hand feel about it. The onion tart and salad were nice, even if the salad leaves were more bitter than I usually like, but that's just a personal preference. The house lemonade is fresh and sharp and delicious. The espresso is nicely presented in a tiny glass on a vintage China plate, and it's good and strong. Service was great too, warm, friendly and attentive. Will seriously think about stopping in again next time I'm in the neighbourhood.

Nice atmosphere I guess but not on a Saturday for those who aren't with kids or do not enjoy the company of kids. Friendly and fast service, classic good choice of burgers and salads. Need to count around 20 eur for a salad and tea

Delicious tarte a l'oignion with fresh crunchy salad! Yum!

Welcome breakfast spot in the center of town, though egg dishes are limited to one option, namely two fried plus toast and non-crispy bacon.

We had a flight to catch later that day so we wanted to go first then when it opened. We got there right when it's supposed to open but they said they weren't ready to seat anyone yet. There was a few other people waiting also. When we finally were allowed to go inside and got seated, they said they weren't serving food until 930am and could only take drink orders for now. We decided to wait even though there was even more waiting. When we finally got our food, the order was incorrect and they had to remake one of our dishes. The chef didn't make it a big deal and quickly made the dish again which was nice. I was slightly frustrated because all this time waiting and then they make a mistake! The food was so delicious, tasty and so worth the wait!!! Our favorite thing was the vegan pancakes. There was some sort of cream in between each pancake. It was stacked high and came out hot and fresh. It was one the best vegan pancakes I ever had. It's definitely a must have to order!!! The coffee was average. By the time we left, the restaurant was full. Definitely worth the wait, great place to go!

We walked around the block a bit, but could not find a spot that really caught out eye. After a quick Google search around where we were, we ended up chosing this place because we loved the name. The interior of the restaurant definitely screams "Instagram-worthy" but it felt on brand. I mean, it's a restaurant that features avocados! Well, I ordered a bun burger (the "buns" are actually avocado halves) and it was definitely a very creative and delicious choice. It definitely was not as ~basic~ as an avocado toast. In fact, I was pleasantly shocked at how full I was after the meal. Only thing that I will critique were the "nachos" that came on the side. When I hear "nachos," I think of a pretty heavily loaded plate of chips and loads of toppings... or is that because I'm just thinking of Americanized nachos? I was laughing at the singular beans that were neatly placed on top of the small globs of sour cream (see picture). Overall, I'm very glad that we stumbled upon this place. Wish this was in more places around me. I hope to happily stumble upon restaurants like this soon.

When we arrived we were met by a really nice guy behind the counter who helped us oit with his recommemdations. Originally the peppered salami & cheese was only an option for the ciabatta, but the guy let us choose different bread if we wanted to. Awesome service, I'm telling you. Both of them were super tasty, and pretty filling. If you're looking for a place that's got both the taste and the filling for a good price, this is the place for you.

Compared to the medinas in Morocco I would spend the next few weeks walking through, the streets of Brussels are fairly easy to navigate, although signage is still lacking to some degree. My GPS signal was pretty much nonexistent, so after guessing which train stop I needed to get off on, I really needed to pull up a map on an internet connection to get well situated. Delish prominently displayed their free wifi sign, at a time when few other businesses were open so early in the morning. What a relief. After getting settled in with a connection I decided to sample one of their signature coffee drinks, a mocha with a chantilly cream topping and real chunks of Belgian chocolate at the bottom. I didn't know I needed it, but once I had it damn was I grateful. It was the perfect pick-me-up for the sour attitude I was experiencing after dealing with such bad customer service, and the gals here helped relieve some of that too. Their welcoming demeanor and smiles really made a difference for me that morning, and helped change my impression of the otherwise cold city to that point.
