We were a bit hesitant after reading the reviews, but upon speaking with the staff and other parents, we decided to enroll our second kid (2.5yo) and we've absolutely loved it. Our kid is quite shy in new environments and separation anxiety is still high. The teachers and staff are always so warm and welcoming in addressing him to make him feel safe and loved. He now talks about Ms. Hillary and his teachers like they're his friends. For context, we moved this past summer to MB from San Francisco, where we had our first son in multiple private preschools due to covid. Of all the different places we've experienced, the communication, structure, staff, the wide range of activities, and the warmth of the admin especially, have all been top notch. We also had our kid in another preschool in MB prior to this where he was having a hard time, so we toured a multiple other places to look for alternatives all across MB and El Segundo. I can honestly say that you won't get a better team than MSMB. I echo all other positive reviews as well re: the Band app, the campus, the community, extra curricular, etc.. If you're on the fence because of the reviews, please take a visit for yourself and experience what the school has to offer before you judge based on the reviews of parents that are no longer associated with the school.

Choosing South Bay Montessori was one of the best decisions we made as parents, and we feel incredibly grateful for the loving, clean and nurturing environment created by the teachers, staff, and director ( Ms. Evien ). From day one, we knew she was in exceptional hands. All the teachers ( special thanks to Ms. Luna, Ms. Heidy, and Ms. Angie ) at South Bay Montessori are truly priceless. Their love, dedication, and individualized attention helped our daughter grow not only academically but also emotionally. She gained knowledge, confidence, and independence while being surrounded by warmth and genuine care every day. As working parents, there was nothing more reassuring than knowing she was safe, happy, and well cared for every day. That peace of mind meant the world to us. The school is wonderfully organized and guided by a thoughtful educational approach that balances strong academics with kindness and support. The teachers, staff, and director go above and beyond to create a community that truly feels like an extension of family. South Bay Montessori is more than just a school -- it is a place where I see that all children are loved, respected, and encouraged to become their best selves. As our daughter graduated in 2025, saying goodbye was truly bittersweet. South Bay Montessori has played such an important role in our daughter's early years and has left a lasting impact on our family. We will always be deeply thankful for the love, guidance, and education she received at SB Montessori. South Bay Montessori will always hold a very special place in our hearts, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to any family looking for a truly exceptional Montessori experience.

The staff is wonderful and invested in giving the kids a really great foundation and fun education. The Director is super involved, knows all the kids by name, and really cares about the kids. My kids have learned so much and enjoyed every classroom they have been in. Infant Center: We initially chose MA based on the infant center. Ms. Wroten has been the director in the infant center for years and she is a wonderful teacher. We loved that the teachers will ask you for your individual schedule for your child. All of the other places we toured had a set schedule that your infant needed to adjust to. You give them the schedule for feedings and naps and they will stick to it. The teachers provide updates throughout the day in real time (and pictures!) and they communicate with you about everything. Even in the infant center, the teachers will incorporate activities that encourage development. And I always appreciated the art projects and over the top projects for Mother's Day and Father's Day. We always trusted the teachers and felt that our kids were safe. Our kids flourished in the infant center. Toddler Community: The Toddler community is really the jewel of the school. A really welcoming and cute space that is separate and really special. We got to know all of the teachers in Toddler (most of whom have been there for years) and loved every single teacher. The teachers potty train the kids at a pretty early age. It made the potty training at home super easy. The teachers are very involved in the kids' development at this age - teaching them so many important foundational skills. We saw tons of growth here. Our kids had Ms. Campos (Cornejo) and Ms. Schott - both really amazing teachers - they genuinely care for all the kids and teach them so much. They hold conferences with the parents about your child's growth, areas of improvement, things to look forward to. Of course there are fun activities as well. On top of the motor, language, and cognitive skills they learned in toddler, they also learned to be kind, confident, polite, and friendly. Primary Community: The growth and development in the primary community is off the charts. Again, the teachers are amazing. Ms. Alcaraz is one of the best teachers I have ever known. She really cares for all of her kids like they are her own. Everyday I was amazed at the things the kids learned in primary. The development of reading and writing skills is really amazing. They also offer tons of activities that enrich the kids' experience - music, outdoor environment, spanish. I wish I had such a well rounded education myself at that age. The kids love the program, love their teachers, love going to school. I can't speak highly enough of our experience here.

My daughter completed her first year this year and they both deeply love their school. We chose The Children's Place Montessori because of the wonderful environment, the small class size, the affordability, and most of all the total commitment to true Montessori learning, not just having a lot of pretty wooden furniture and saying you're a Montessori school. Children are allowed to explore and go at their own pace. Sometimes that means they go quickly through a subject (though still with a thorough understanding) and sometimes more slowly as time and interest provide. That opportunity makes a huge difference and takes a lot of care and attention in a classroom full of kids. We really did not want computers in the classroom when our son was in kindergarten and are even more glad they're not a part of his early elementary education. Homeschooling was not in the cards for our family, but I really feel like the approach to learning here is the next best thing for our family. This is not a business that also happens to be a school. It's first and foremost a dedicated place of guidance that serves the whole child. I'm so grateful we lucked into an open spot exactly when we needed it so many years ago and look forward to many more years as a part of this wonderful community.

The kids also have to go to the sister school during those breaks which is inconvenient. However, we left after a lot of other negative experiences there. Over the past nine months, we've gone through three clinical directors, multiple long-time beloved staff/teachers quitting, multiple visits/violations from the California state department for reports of children not having access to water, older kids being forced to take naps and classrooms being out of ratio (aka teachers having over the limit of kids in a classroom). This is all public information and I encourage parents to review it. Today was the last straw as police were called to the school when a staff member and the director Ms Mary were yelling/arguing in front of the children. We no longer felt this was a safe place for our child and removed them immediately. Extremely disappointing and heartbreaking that this happened in front of kids. When we moved out of the area so that my son started kindergarten, that is when we unenrolled. I really like the balance between indoor/outdoor time and also between structured/open play. There is a lot of free open play built into the day's schedule which I like because the kids get to interact with each and build friendships. At the same time, there is also structure and routine. A typical day is as follows (this is when my children were enrolled so maybe this has changed a bit, you'll have to check with the school): before 9 am is open play. Lots of Montessori style toys and activities for kids to choose from. 9-11 am is academics with children being grouped by age. Their curriculum is age appropriate for that group. 11-1 pm is lunch and open play outside. The outside has plenty of space plus a playground plus flowers/plants and other items to play with. 1-2:30 pm is nap time for those who still nap. Nap is a separate building in the back away from the kids that no longer sleep so the kids can rest undisturbed. If they no longer nap, then there is an art/craft activity, spanish class, music class and/or another learning activity for those kids. 2:30-3:30 pm is open play and a snack break. I think they also offer extended care 3:30 pm - ? but I didn't have the kids in extended care, so I am not sure about the experience. I would imagine there is more open indoor/outdoor play. The teachers there have been there for many years. They are very sweet and caring but also have rules and safety expectations. They are attentive and they tune into what they see throughout the day. They will share important information or behaviors that they pick up on from your child and they will communicate. I also would go to them for advice if I was struggling with language or behaviors at home and they often would have very helpful tips to help me work on that and it often worked. This place is a very clean!! The kids are constantly washing their hands from the first moment they walk in the door and throughout the day. This place will be an amazing environment for your children. They will make strong friendships and also will be ready for elementary school. It is run by very great teachers, and it is affordable compared to all the other Montessori type schools in the area. I know because i looked into all of them and researched and compared. I was surprised that there are not a larger or students enrolled, but i think the reason is that Torrance Montessori is not an app-based school and/or a social media school. This school functions with good old fashion phone calls/and or speaking in person. My children both had a great experience here and they still have playdates with friends that they met here. I am glad I found this school when I did.

She would cry almost every morning. Even though she'd tell me she had a great day and enjoyed herself, the tears never really stopped, even after more than a year. That's when I decided to look for a new school. As soon as we found Torrance Montessori, everything changed. The dropoff tears stopped, which felt like such a relief. It truly felt like we had found the right place for her. When my son turned two, we enrolled him as well. While the school follows a Montessori approach, it also has a strong academic focus, which I've really appreciated. They offer both Spanish and Mandarin, and there's even a music class on Fridays. My daughter felt confident and well prepared going into Kindergarten, and my son, who is now four, can already write his name and count to 100. I'll admit, I don't spend much time doing extra teaching at home, so it's been impressive to see how much they've learned at school. The environment is safe, clean, and nurturing. Many of the teachers have been there for years, and it shows in how much they genuinely care about the students. If you're considering it, I'd definitely recommend taking a tour and seeing it for yourself. One last thing I want to add is that tuition was very reasonable and the lowest compared to other preschools. The hours are from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm with extended hours after.

He's also been pinned down and hit by other children. He's come home crying, missed a lot of school and woke up crying from having nightmares because of the bully. They started out as friends and then the bully began to get physical. It continued to escalate over time even after my wife spoke to the teachers who had no idea what was going on in the first place. My child kept getting hit and bullied so my wife asked the teachers to separate the kids. Then, our son got punched in the face. We were so patient and so understanding. My wife was a die hard supporter of our sons teachers in room 1. We trusted these people, this school, with the safety of our son. My wife reached out for help/answers multiple times, but they assured her everything was under control. However, they NEVER told the other kid's family and then lied to them when my wife had to contact one of the parents. They did not keep our son safe and he did not feel safe. They robbed the other family the ability to help their child navigate through any developmental needs by keeping this a secret. The owner and staff admitted guilt, wrongdoing and they apologized to us for concealing the matter from the bully's family - the history and the severity of the situation - that spanned six months. They waited until the end of the year to say that the bully was leaving the school - that was their solution to our little guy getting bullied and hurt for so long. The teachers in room 1 promised us that they would tell the bully's parents the truth but that never happened. We told them we'd finish the school year (last two weeks) and then remove him indefinitely. They apologized and said they were sad to see us leave the school but they understood we had to save our child. They apologized for not acting sooner. It could've been so simple, but it was too little too late. After my son got punched in the face on Monday, two weeks before school ends, more violence ensued on Tuesday. He got a bloody nose some how on Wednesday and, after our parent-teacher conference earlier that day, the teachers were distant to him. He cried and refused to go to school the rest of the week. He didn't understand why his teachers told him to go "bye bye" as we had not explained how he would be uprooted from his regular routine. The teachers and the room mom deleted my wife from the classroom app out of nowhere. That signified that regardless of the apologies and admission to being complicit in violence against our son - we were no longer welcome. My wife wrote a yelp review and the head of PTA threatened her and my 4 year old saying that he will be blocked entry into any other school in the area. She threatened our family saying will be blacklisted from the community and face legal action as well as other consequences. This grown woman, the head of BCM PTA, threatened my son and bullied my wife after our son has already suffered so much physically, emotionally and mentally. There has been an outpour of moms reaching out to my wife. Some genuine and some pretending to care while sharing their horror stories of Room 1 violence yet avoiding to be seen with our family in public. This school BCM, the teachers in room 1 and the head of PTA are an embarrassment to the private montessori education system. Don't punish my wife for protecting our child. Don't punish my 4 year old child for wanting to be friends with his classmates even if they bully and beat him.
