We got here Saturday night around 8PM without a reservation, and we were seated right away. The place was pretty full, and more people were either coming in or taking to go throughout the night. They had the windows open so the space felt airy and did not feel stuffy at all. We ordered dumplings, duck, and fried rice. Everything was really great!! Good portion size and authentic taste. I think this was the only Chinese restaurant in Lausanne. Being the only one, it's extremely popular. My fiancee, his sister, and I made a reservation just in case. The place was crowded and we sat at a long communal table. It was kind of cold outside so I wanted something warm. So we got two soups: one wonton and one beef noodle. We also got fried rice. The fried rice was a little greasy but it was pretty good overall. The soups were nice and hot and hit the spot. It is a good-sized portion and if you can read Chinese, it helps you that much more. The best Chinese restaurant around. The food is incredible, the prices are low, and the portions are really big. You'll probably need to ask for a doggy bag when leaving (which they'll gladly provide). The only downside is that it often takes a long time for food to be served, and guests will not always receive their meals at the same time. This is THE best chinese restaurant in town....even in Suisse Romande. Don't go there if you want some privacy as the tables are really close to each other and don't go there if you don't want smelly clothes :) The food is wonderful, the "boeuf piquant" (spicy beef) is to die (if you like spicy, ask it real spicy), the "boeuf croustillant" is "ho my god!", the soups or dumplings...mmmhhh... Well, great. A lot of chinese go there early, fun atmosphere. Cheap, plate + beer = +/- 20.- frs. When chinese people eat at the table next to you in a chinese restaurant, that's often a good sign! That's what happened to us yesterday night Chez Xu. We were on for a good start! Known to be the best chinese restaurant in Lausanne, I wasn't disappointed. We shared shrimps raviolis as a starter, which were really fresh. Then we took a canard laqué, the crispy skin was really delicious and the meat very tender. We also tried the beef in a typical chinese sauce. In all, a really good chinese restaurant. The prices are reasonable for Switzerland, too (almost all main courses under 20.-). Still, I wouldn't recommend it for a first date as the tables are shared and really close to each other. read more

One of the best value-for-money authentic Chinese restaurants in the Suisse romande region. Being from Taiwan, one of the most difficult things to cope with when I first moved to Geneva was the lack of affordable Chinese food. Everything was either over-priced or simply disappointing... until I found this place. Since the restaurant is Sichuan styled, the dishes are more on the heavy-side (spicy too!), but nevertheless, it's very authentic. You'll find Chinese people there every time you go, which is always a sign that it's reminiscent of actual Chinese food. I for one highly recommend the spicy beef. While prices are a bit high, it's still reasonable considering this is Switzerland. Also, the portions are very generous! My only gripe with this place is that it's often crowded, and thus it's not only hard to find a seat, but things also get hectic inside, with waiters frantically running around. This is authentically Sichuan Chinese as it gets outside of China. Needless to say you need to be able to hold a punch when it comes to the spice amount in the food, pay in cash and finally to be ready to wait in line for a while if you haven't reserved a set first (service quality and the waiting time is the reason this spot didn't get the fifth star). very nice place. it is a run of the mill Chinese restaurant offering a good assortment of Chinese cuisine. while I did check the accept credit cards...they do not, it is a cash only place. food was generous and they spoke enough English to take our order and bring it to us ( which I will say was super fast! we received our entrée before we received our appetizer!) literally within 10 minutes of ordering...BAM! it is very affordable considering this is Switzerland. will be back for sure! read more

All things are relative. For Switzerland, this Chinese restaurant is head and shoulders above any other we have tried. We are a family of five. We had hot and sour soup and shrimp dumplings for appetizer. Both were excellent. For our main course we ordered the cashew chicken and the sizzling beef along with the vegetable noodles dish and fried rice with shrimp. The sidling beef was the best dish - the best Asian food dish I've had in Switzerland. Everything else was good as well. If this restaurant was in New York or San Francisco or LA, it would be middle of the road. But in Switzerland, a Chinese food desert -this place is an oasis. read more

Only issues: The size of the restaurant; quite small and gets crowded really fast (make sure you come early or call them before going), and the noise, which makes it a bit hard to communicate with waiters who don't always speak perfect French.
