This was a fact I was going to happily share with the staff there, but I was met by the owner as I stood at the register, and he angrily shooed me away like a dog begging for scraps. Barked out loudly stating he doesn't do take-out and as I opened my mouth to ask a question, he threw his hands up dramatically and stormed off. We were sightseeing in this area and saw this restaurant. The menu looked fine. When we were there, they had not opened yet and we decided to wait. What a big mistake. RACISM ALERT :The owner is an absolute wannabe racist! We went there with a toddler, waited for 15 minutes yet nobody came to our table. I asked him for a high chair for my child and he rudely asked me to pick up one from the stack in the corner. When we were there, he was busy engaging in futile conversation with the Caucasians. Whereas, he didn't bother to come to our table to take the order. He saw us walking out yet he was least bothered. He even walked a family out of the place when they were done with their dinner. Food is fine and the atmosphere is quite unique if you are looking for Chinese environment. This place is not authentic Chinese food and more for tourist. Food is over price. Around $22-25 a dish (even a fried rice). We ordered a 5 scent duck which was good. The fried rice is not what we expected. As you can see in the photo, portion is like for 1 person, not for a group of 2-3 and it doesn't have much in the fried rice.. guess they add white pepper to cook for the flavour. The ketchup shrimp doesn't taste like the regular ketchup shrimp I've had. They have more veggies than the shrimps. The fried wonton was good, but the sauce is not sweet and sour sauce (red sauce) we normally eat it with. The "mix pot" (don't remember the name) has everything inside including veggies, beef, shrimp and pork... it's more like mixture of left over food. The appearance is very unappealing. The meat could be cut into slices but they're irregular pieces that make me wonder if they're a pot of left over. Overall, the taste is good for tourist (or non Asian) but definitely not the traditional Chinese food. Price is over price, portion super little (one person might need 2 dishes to be full=$40 at least), also we are all so thirsty after the meal, might be too much MSG? read more

I'm giving this place 2 stars but only because unfortunately i've had worst Chinese food and because the service, by the owner himself, was satisfactory. We ordered the duck (spicy) and the black bean chicken... The duck was alright... Too expensive for what you get (too fatty, not enough meat); the chicken tasted ok, nothing great. The spring rolls that came with our meals were not good at all; too much five spice. And that's about it! Won't be going back. If i get a craving for Chinese food a frozen dinner will probably be more satisfying (and I won't have to listen to what sounded like the sane Chinese song on repeat). read more

When I first read the reviews for this restaurant, I took them with a grain of salt. I thought to have so many poor reviews in broken English could be a sign that the competition was dissing this place; especially since the restaurant displays many award type seals next to their front door. Turns out that I should have heeded the warning. My husband & I both ordered a combo type meal (Table d'Hote). The fried egg roll was OK, although the sauce wasn't very good & the wonton type appetizer was all fried dough with very little substance. The hot & sour soup was unrecognizable. If I was told that it was dirty sock soup, I would not have been surprised. My main course was General Tso Chicken. The "chicken" (although I'm not sure I could ID this as such) was deep fried in something that gave it a chewy hard tough shell, covered in a gooey sweet stickey red sauce. I could barely force myself to eat 3 bites. My husband, who has an iron stomach, did eat a few bites of my meal to avoid leaving essentially the whole thing. I hate giving bad reviews to a family owned business but I am just so angry about the $70 we spent at this place that would have been of more use if I had just lit the money on fire. I should have known better when, after sitting at an assigned table for 30 minutes before even having a chance to order, no one else in the restaurant had food on their table either. My husband and I chalked it up to being a tiny place and the fact that it was Christmas Eve. I thought maybe it was just me being hangry because no one else seemed annoyed by the fact that it took over an hour an a half to get any food. The "homestyle" noodles were lukewarm at best and not even Chinese, but literal linguine noodles. I don't know what in the world the meat came from or if it had gone bad and they said "oh what the hell, they won't notice" but that was NOT pork. Wonton soup had no flavor. "Pork" (term used loosely) dumplings were bite size at best and tasted like nothing at all. My husband ordered the General Tso's chicken. I'm 99.9% that was not chicken. He was so freaked out that he quit eating after 2 bites and said the only reason he ate two was because he was so hungry. I ordered Sichuan squid. It tasted okay. On the whole plate there were maybe 5 pieces of squid and the rest veggies, which was fine I guess but it was $17 and I was still hungry. I'm so outraged by the entire experience and I'm in no way a picky eater. Probably the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. We took the leftovers back to the house for the sole purpose of showing my mom the "chicken", which she quickly observed that it was, in fact, not chicken. The portion was only enough for two, the food was overpriced and the wait time was absurd. We waited about 40 min for the food and we probably finished all the food in half that time. we were a group of six ..there was a sudden downpour and we thought instead of looking around more lets just eat at Chez soi and it was 8 pm and we were hungry. Ordered the table hote....hoping we can get a good meal...appetisers came tiny portion - soup first....45 mins later.. one springroll per table d"hote order. we did not want wantons....so we got two springrolls with burned bits...Is that a joke! Main course was not coming - we asked the main guy who shouted at us rudely " you must wait" signalling that he is currently serving those guests who were here before us. Maybe if they had more persons to serve...the restaurant is run by the owner...( who is the cashier/ waiter ) and his son. I bet its his wife in the kitchen!
