Malbec and amuse bouches, starters that were excellent, then on to pressed belly pork, and seabass for mains. Flipping Nora! Honestly, the best belly pork I have ever had- and I seem to be on a trend of ordering the stuff currently- especially if there is no game on the menu. It was really well balanced, fall apart in your mouth, and the perfect crackling. We then stuffed in a pudding that we totally didn't need, but i didn't regret it. Bonus points for; 1. Anyone who brings me warm bread in a teeny basket is on to an immediate winner. 2. They grow loads of the ingredients themselves, and the owners are fully and properly involved. 3. Some random dude and his poor date came as walk ins- he didn't even bother to take off his mucky work hi-vis, ordered food before his date was ready, inhaled it, and asked for the bill before she had touched a third of hers- and the staff handled his weird attitude and rudeness so calmly, and professionally. The staff were all very welcoming, and we were all really impressed with the friendly, efficient service. The menu was full of English comfort foods...and they executed everything beautifully. Just look at my photos to get an idea...I tried the goats cheese and caramelised onion strudel, which came balanced on potatoes and perfect ratatouille. If you ever find yourself in this part of the country, it is definitely worth popping in here for some lunch! *Pro tip: It sounded like they get very booked up in the evening, so ring ahead to ensure you get a table!!

It was a ten minute wait for our tea and coffee then 40 minutes for our breakfasts. I even had to chase them to hurry them along and no apology was offered. When the breakfasts arrived you could tell the sausages were the cheap 'Richmond' variety rather than locally sourced as we would have expected. Shortly after finding a table in the late morning the crowds came in. If you plan on coming with a large group I recommend calling ahead to get reservations. They were serving the breakfast/brunch menu during our seating. I opted for the bacon pancakes. The food is presented just beautifully like the perfect instagram photo. And it tastes just as good. If you are a tea drinker you must order a pot just for the cute factor. All teapots come out dressed in little tea cozys. I wonder if they sell them as they all look homemade. My only complaint is that the food came old on the cold side. Perhaps it was due to how crowded it was, but it was like the food had been sitting out for a while. Regardless it still tasted amazing. I think prices for the Plough are affordable. If you have an Independent Birmingham card you receive a discount so keep that in mind. They have a beer garden out back that must be wonderful on sunny days..if we ever get any. I really want to get back there for lunch or dinner. And maybe try a cocktail if they have any. If you're ever in Harborne try it out.
