For such a meager menu, I think that's duck overkill. Beef tartare comes in second being listed twice. Not being crazy over duck, I opted for the fish and chips and I have to give it to them, their's has got to be the best in the area. Their fish always just tastes so fresh and the batter is perfect. My husband had the duck salad and thoroughly enjoyed it. Despite the place not being busy, service was slow. It's a great place, I just wish the menu was more varied and I wish to God that not every table in that place was a high top. A few regular tables scattered about would not go amiss.

The waiters visit you frequently and refill your water many times throughout the meal. This place has a diverse menu with lots of interesting menu options, all equally as delicious as the next. Before this place wasn't so busy, but now it is hard to get a walk-in table. Be sure to call for reservations beforehand. I had and will always order their freaking amazing fish and chips that are cooked to a perfect golden brown crisp. Portion is quite large but I believe the price is very fair and can be split between 2 people with a smaller appetite. I will be posting a picture of the dish because the presentation is beautiful! Details about my dish: The fries are shoe string cut seasoned fries that are damn good. You get 3 filets of haddock that are never soggy with a perfect amount of crisp. The tartar sauce is paired with an alternative guacamole type spread that is equally as quite tasty. Ask for garlic mayo and it is great on the fish and chips or with the fries. There is a salad in the centre with mixed lettuce and a vinaigrette sauce that is also great... But not as great as the fish!

I just wish that he spent a little more time working in seasoning foods. None of our food was bad but none of it was standout great. I take that back; the ratatouille Wellington did actually taste good if you don't mind readiness in your ratatouille, which I guess I don't mind but don't prefer. Our server was very into food and did a great job describing the dishes. I was a little put off that he sort of sat/leaned his butt on the table next to us while he did so. It was almost too chilly in the restaurant but bearable. 3 stars: If someone else really wanted to go back, i guess I would, though reluctantly.

To date, I haven't received a response, which is why I'm posting here. I am writing in the hope that this feedback reaches senior leadership, as I want to share our experience at your Mother's Day brunch today. Our family of five attended brunch at a cost of $84.40 per person, for a total of $422. At that price point, and especially given that payment, including gratuity, was required in advance, we expected the experience to feel special, well-executed, and thoughtfully managed. The brunch was advertised as taking place in one of Brookstreet's "elegant ballrooms," which further reinforced the expectation of a polished and elevated experience. Unfortunately, what we walked into felt more like an overcrowded conference room with tables placed extremely close together. There was nothing elegant or remarkable about the setting, and it immediately felt oversold and underwhelming. Our disappointment continued as we waited approximately 20 minutes without being acknowledged by any of the wait staff. I eventually had to find someone and ask whether a server could come over to provide coffee for our table. For a prepaid brunch with gratuity already included, this was frustrating and set the tone for the rest of the meal. Unfortunately, the food was equally disappointing. The roast beef and pork loin were dry and overcooked, the pasta was mushy, and the vegetables were grey and sitting in water. The advertised "fresh breads and accompaniments" did not appear to be available, and the "action station" for waffles and pancakes was actually just chafing dishes. The waffles were soggy, while the pancakes were dry and hard around the edges. Most concerning was the bacon. I was genuinely shocked to lift the lid of one chafing dish and find bacon that appeared to be raw. In another dish, the bacon was sitting in roughly an inch of grease, with pieces that were burnt in some areas and undercooked in others. This was not just disappointing, it felt unacceptable and quite possibly a good safety issue. It goes without saying that we were profoundly disappointed with our experience today. Mother's Day brunch should feel like a special occasion - that is what I thought we were purchasing based on the advertising and menu. Instead, we left feeling that the experience was careless, overpriced, and nowhere near the standard we expected for the price point. For $422, I would have expected significantly better food quality and preparation, more attentive service, and a much higher level of care overall. I hope my email is able to convey the disappointment and embarrassment I feel at having taken my mother, husband and adult children for this brunch; I would appreciate a response outlining how Brookstreet intends to address this.

A welcome basket of fresh bread & butter were served, both the bread & butter were super yum! I started with chowder which contains: Coconut green curry broth, mussels, bay scallops, Argentinian shrimp, bacon crumble, Confit fingerling potato, micro cilantro So fresh & absolutely scrumptious, it definitely stood out. Beef tenderloin, it comes with Yukon puree, blistered cherry tomatoes, sauteed kale, cippolini onions, Spanish chorizo butter I like my steak meduim rare, it was cooked perfectly & it was seasoned so well. Price wise, is on the higher range. I would definitely return to try out more things.

Drumroll please... Riviera -- Wow…read more This is what I'm talking about. Sexy. Sophisticated. Huge ceilings. Gorgeous bar. And a Negroni list with ten different versions. Don't miss Riviera when you're in Ottawa. We arrived an hour early before our third dinner guest joined us, so we started with a drink and a small appetizer. After several of my jokes fell flat, I told the waitress to just pick a Negroni for me based on what she'd heard from me so far. She nailed it. It was a slightly sweeter Negroni than the traditional one, with a hint of rosemary. We shared a dynamite tartare to start. Our buddy arrives and, without even looking at the menu, says: "You have to try a Negroni here -- they clearly know what they're doing." So I went for a second one -- this time a classic. Perfect. Next up: the seafood tower. Honestly, it felt like it had just come out of the sea. Razor clams, tuna belly tartare/ceviche on a mini salad leaf that was outstanding, plus lobster and crab claws that were spot on. A fabulous start. There were three of us, so we shared a steak with fries and a beautiful au jus, perfect gnocchi, and a salad with chicory, little nuts of some kind, and tons of shaved cheese -- Parmesan-ish. I can't remember exactly what it was because I'm writing this the morning after... and there may have been a few more wines involved. We finished by sharing a pavlova with passion fruit -- three spoons. I almost hate to admit this... but it was better than anything I've had in Toronto in years. Everything felt fresh, almost farm-to-table. Light, lively, and just a great vibe. In my opinion, Riviera is the perfect restaurant. Oh, and I added our waitress to my newsletter list because she wanted to try an excellent Polish water called Perlage that I think the restaurant should carry. Riviera -- if I could give you a 10 out of 10, I would. Actually... you know what? You're a 10.

Most definitely part of the wonderful experience. Food was top notch. We had the sea bass, lobster spaghetti, Riv Burger, and Chicken Milanese. Everyone was happy. Dessert was astounding, I have to say. We had the pavlova with a peach filling and a vanilla cream. So delicate in substance and flavor. Heaven!

The food has always been fantastic, and the portions are always generous (keep that in mind when ordering!) The house potatoes that they have are the best (it's one of the main reasons that I eat brunch here) so definitely order something that comes with a side of potatoes if you can. For the crepes, something to keep in mind is that sometimes the crepe itself can be quite difficult to cut into. For example, we ordered the Crepe & Fruits, and it was so plentiful in fruits that when the crepe was opened it looked like a fruit salad (which unfortunately made it impossible to cut into). The crepe ended up getting cut up very messily, eaten alone and then the fruits eaten alone as well. There's only three options for crepes anyways, so just as a precaution I'd recommend getting a waffle instead (they're just as good but easier to eat!) The pancakes are even better- below is a picture of Carole's Cinna-cakes which is an absolute must have if you're a cinnamon roll fan like me. They were so good, and surprisingly super filling. I'm planning on coming back soon just to grab these again. Definitely an option I'd recommend! In general, though, most of the food items are great, and the nice part is that the menu is packed with different options to choose from, to the point where it might be overwhelming. It took us maybe 20 minutes to fully decide what we wanted to order because there were so many options that sounded delicious (maybe check the menu beforehand if you tend to get overwhelmed when ordering!) The area that this restaurant is in is also really practical. There's a bunch of different food places in the same row (like D-spot, Baton Rouge, etc), a nearby Landmark Cinema, Sportchek, and Centrum Plaza that's walking distance, which is perfect if you're looking to grab brunch with friends and then go for some shopping or walking around the area. All in all, so far all of our visits here have been fantastic, and it's definitely a great place to eat at!
