You ever walked by a restaurant filled with silver-haired gents sitting around playing cards and speaking loudly in some foreign dialect and wondered what it would be like to just grab a seat next to them and soak it all in? Well, wonder no more and head to Chez Harry's.
If Martin Scorcese were a Tunisian Jew instead of an Italian Catholic, he would have probably filmed several scenes Chez Harry's. The 20-something seater is packed elbow-to-elbow every lunch with a bunch of boisterous men who head there for the hearty, homemade Tunisian kosher food cooked up daily by the charismatic Harry who in between serving up his signature dishes (Boulettes Shabbat, Assiette Tunisienne, Fried Fish fillets, Pizza) keeps the volume of his card-playing clientele down by shusshing them continually.
You want atmosphere with your assiette, then this is your place ! But it's not just about the "scene" at Harry's, the food is also wonderful. I highly recommend the Assiette Tunisienne with two types of harissa, tuna, preserved lemon, boiled potatoes, olives, salad and a poached egg finished off with a slice of Mandelbrodt and mint tea. Perfection! read more
