Lucky us, they had an open table and we were seated right away and given water cups and a carafe of water. We perused the menu and our kids instantly landed on getting the s'mores. My husband and I chose very similar savory crepes but with different meats. The restaurant got busy and a line formed of those wanting to eat in. This place was hopping and had a great ambiance. I really liked how it felt in there. There was a lady greeting anyone who came in and communicating to them how long of a wait and then seating them once the table became available. I will say, we felt a little rushed as we were near the entrance and heard all of this, including her mentioning who was getting our table next. That's probably my only complaint. The Crêpes were all yummy. Our kids were obsessed with theirs. Since getting home they tell anyone that will listen all about them. Mine was filling and a great combination of flavors. My husband also enjoyed his. While this wasn't our original destination that day, I'm glad we found it and gave it a try.

What started as a wine and cheese shop with a small bar has grown into a full-service restaurant with a small shop. It boasts outdoor seating (though, be careful for falling acorns during the fall-- those are hazardous)! I stopped in on a Friday evening, prior to another reservation. I got a crisp glass of rose and enjoyed the beautiful October day. I'd d I recommend street parking, down Linn Street. Though the Tower Place Parking Ramp is a short .25 mile walk away. Honestly, I bumped this up a star for two main reasons. 1) STAFF. Man, just the most helpful, knowledgeable and personable folks work here. Kind folks. I mean Kind with a capital K -- and it starts from the top. During the pandemic, the owner donated $13k during the peak of the pandemic to local businesses. (By challenging his customers: For every $100 Brix gift card purchased, he would pay forward 100 percent, with 75 percent of the money going to various downtown venues, restaurants and retail, and 25 percent to the Englert Theatre.) Additionally, each year Brix does a Rosé vs Wade event raising money for the local Emma Goldman Clinic of Iowa City. 2) Wine classes. I am always so intrigued to see the wine classes Brix puts up on Facebook. I adore wine but I am not anything close to a sommelier. Keep an eye out for these informative and tasty classes! Brix is one of a kind in Downtown Iowa City. Sip, sip hooray! Stop by.

We ordered the surf and turf with an extra lobster tail, the 22 oz ribeye steak dinner, two sundaes, and the French onion soup. The French onion soup was a bit too salty for our taste, and the ribeye was slightly dry for our liking. Our son practically drank his surf and turf and lobster tail, so it's safe to say he loved his meal! The ice cream and strawberry purée were also delicious. We sat at the bar and were taken care of by Amanda and Adam, whose service was absolutely exceptional -- professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly. We've been to Craft a few times now. Our first visit under the new management didn't quite live up to our expectations, but this second visit was an entirely different story. The food, service, and overall experience were all exceptional -- you can really feel the team hitting their stride. We started with the Prime Fillet Carpaccio and the CHEZ Willis Calamari, and both were fantastic. Perfectly fresh, balanced, and not over-seasoned -- just clean, well-executed flavors that let the quality of the ingredients shine. The atmosphere strikes that ideal fine dining tone without feeling stuffy -- the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy a great meal, and appreciate true craftsmanship in both the kitchen and behind the bar. We truly hope more people discover Craft on Seminary -- it's the kind of place that deserves to thrive. If you're anywhere near Galesburg, make a point to stop in. You won't be disappointed.

I felt compelled to leave this review because exceptional service like hers deserves to be recognized. From the moment we sat down, Lexi was attentive, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. She had an answer to every single question we asked -- not just about the menu, but about the business itself. She knew so much about Bread & Vine that I genuinely thought she might be the owner. That level of pride and understanding is rare and speaks volumes about her professionalism. What really stood out was how accommodating and engaging she was. She made thoughtful recommendations, not only for food and drinks, but also for other places to visit and things to do around Galena. It truly elevated our entire experience. Because of her suggestions and the way she described everything so well, we ended up ordering (and purchasing) more than we originally planned -- simply because we trusted her recommendations. Lexi is the kind of employee every business hopes to have. She represents Bread & Vine with confidence, warmth, and expertise. She absolutely deserves recognition -- and in my opinion, a raise -- for the way she goes above and beyond for guests. I hope she sees this and I hope this reaches someone as important as her. From the moment we made our reservation, the staff was incredibly accommodating. By no means is this a typical "bring the kids" type of dining establishment, but sometimes parents just gotta do what they gotta do... and the staff at Fritz and Frites were truly so kind and accepting. The kids drew with crayons on the table paper cover and ate some delicious mac and cheese from the sides menu. They were as content as the adults were with their meals! Speaking of our meals, I ordered the Poulet Roti. An absolutely delicious roasted chicken dish, which I believe is the best chicken I've ever tasted! I can't wait for our next trip to Galena, just for another dinner at this wonderful place.

Unfortunately, the rest of the experience did not live up to the reputation or the price point. I travel extensively around the world and the U.S., and I dine often at high-end restaurants, so I consider myself someone with a refined palate. With that in mind, I found Goldmoore to be very overrated. My sea bass was very average--the sauce had clashing flavors that simply did not work together. Their signature Beef Wellington, which should have been the highlight, was disappointing as well. Even the vegetables in the medley had a strange aftertaste, almost as if one of them--or the garlic--was spoiled. Service was also underwhelming. Our server didn't explain the dishes, didn't check in to ask how things were, and the food took far too long to arrive. For a restaurant of this level, that's unacceptable. Dessert was the final letdown. It had a cheap taste and even some crusty, stale-like bits that reminded me of eating a cracker past its freshness. For a $200 bill, I expected much higher quality. My friend and I both agreed that we would have enjoyed a simple burger and fries in downtown Galena much more. Overall, the atmosphere and the host were nice, but the food and service fell far below the standard of a fine dining restaurant. Sadly, I was not impressed and would not return.

We were told our table wasn't quite ready, since we were early we planned on going to the bar 1st anyway. We decided to try the rooftop outdoor area. It was sooooo hot with no breeze & no shade as the sun was setting, but it was beautiful. We waited a little past when our resy was scheduled for our table, & we were seated in the front smaller dining room by a window (which is the nicer room) Bread & drinks came out & were good We ordered 2 dinners to share, the Beef Wellington & the Scallops. The Scallops was only 3 decent sized scallops that were good not great, with a few veggies (beets & carrots). If that was all I ordered I would've left hungry. For $49 probably should be 5 or 6 or throw in another side. We ordered the Wellington medium, she would've like to order med/rare, but I convinced her med would have a red center. it came out med/well with absolutely no red inside. That ruined it for my wife, so she took 1 bite & ate the Scallops & I was left to eat the dry boring Beef for $60 I know we should've sent it back or complained but that's definitely not our style. We also tried a raspberry ganache with a few little cookies in it (pictured) it was small but pretty good. Bill was almost $150 b4 tip The mansion, the drive thru the country & view was worth it, but food was a let down & not what we hoped for. We would skip it & try some of the other establishments in town
