Beautiful food at a brilliant price. Highly recommend their lunch menu - three exquisite courses for just £29.50 (plus service). House white wine was just right: dry, almost ice cold. It went swimmingly with our fish main courses. The ambience isn't too stuffy, either. Sure, there're starched white tablecloths, but the dress code is smart casual, and the clientele were mainly families or friends, with a businessy pair here and there. Service was attentive, if a little slow (we were there for nearly three hours). Still, that's the luxury of enjoying a leisurely long lunch. Be warned, you will feel full. Very full. The thought of eating ever again will be nauseating. But, oh, what a treat.

Can't be faulted on quality, service or atmosphere. We had the Cote de Boeuf to share, simply perfect, tender and well garnished. The deconstructed cheesecake to finish was sublime. Alas, with somewhere so perfect there is always the bill - which certainly won't disappoint. Don't expect to get out for less than three figures.

Overall - 4.5* Food - 5* Service - 4* Venue/ambience - 4* Value - 5* We finally booked this restaurant after glowing reviews from friends. This is one of only a handful of restaurants South of the river that has a Michelin star but don't let that dissuade you. The front of house wasn't the friendliest and the ambience/venue was understated, but the food more than made up for it. The Parmesan biscuits and bread, especially the focaccia, were excellent. For starters, we had the crispy trotter sausage served with leek and bacon fondue, quail's egg and apple sauce, which was very tasty. But the highlight has to be the foie gras and chicken liver parfait, which was rich and light at the same time. It was served with the softest, freshly toasted brioche and it was a match made in heaven! We ordered the fillet of beef and venison for mains and both were perfectly done (medium), pink and melt in the mouth. The dessert impressed as well. The pecan ice cream was just the right sweetness with crunchy pecan, balanced with the sweet Florentines. The hot chocolate pudding with praline parfait was very rich but the parfait had melted slightly when served. The staff even made a little birthday brownie with a lit candle for a birthday celebration which was a nice touch. Overall, it was one of the best meals I've had in London and will most certainly be back.

My partner surprised me with a birthday meal, I had always wanted to go as I drove past most evenings and was intrigued. As we entered the restaurant the welcome was efficient but warm and there was no issue when we didn't like the choice of table and were offered another with ease. The menu was a three course option with the choice being just right. I opted for the crap ravioli and stuffed chicken for main and my partner went for the warm duck salad and rump of lamp. The dishes were just the right amount and without sounding boring outstanding. All of the time the staff were available however kept a subtle distant. We then had dessert and were totally stuffed. For the wine we opted to have the sommelier choose a glass for each dish and there were no complaints. Overall a lovely evening

Amazing Michelin star dinner with fantastic service and ambiance. At £50 per person for a 3 course menu, I classify this restaurant as the best kept secret of London town. We will be back!

'well the eggs, sausage, beetroot' doesn't have too much beetroot in it! But that's okay, it was wonderful. I had a starter with red mullet and beetroot, and moved onto beetroot risotto. The other 5 in the party had beetroot in at least one and mostly two courses with many enjoying beetroot in the salad. Obviously they had fresh beetroots and that's kind of what it's about isn't it. All our our meals were prepared very well with nice fresh ingredients. A number of us had duck which I am told was fine. We shared some cheese to close which was quite fine. The wine selection was fine. We had a couple bottles at nice prices including a 2003 St. Julian under 50. We will return and I expect whatever is fresh (seasonal) and nice will dominate the menu.

The rabbit was just how I have always imagined it should be but have never quite got before. Flavoursome, soft and substantial, served on a parsnip mash with caramalised onion... I did manage to steal a little asparagus from Mr Rupert's sea bass as I felt I needed a bit of colour on my plate to prepare me for the cheese... Oh the cheeeeessse. We were presented with a platter as big as our table with I am sure 15 plus different cheeses for us to choose from. What a choice... pure heaven. And off we rolled home. *A word for the wise, if it's a hot summer night...make the most of it and book an outside table. Mr Rupert and I didn't, so were inside on one of the warmest evenings this year.

The menu is set, rotating every couple of weeks, or there are some "small plate" options. The wine list is relatively compact, but well chosen, with some nicely picked by-the-glass options. The set menu is very well priced ( an amuse bouche and three courses). One tiny gripe is that personally, I'd like at least some element of choice, but the reality is it makes sense for a smaller restaurant. Service is extremely attentive, even kindly, without being overbearing. Thoroughly recommended.

Although, I am very reluctantly writing this, as I don't want Sinabro to get too popular and thus make it hard for me to get a repeat reservation! This is a small East-meets-west fusion restaurant. Very small (only a few tables and a big large sharing high table). The menu is equally small, with only a few choices for starters and mains. I went during lunch, where you can get two courses for £22, or three for £25. This is excellent value, as the dishes you can choose from are from the regular a la carte menu, where mains themselves are in the £20 price range. Risotto with kimchi and nori was a delightful fusion dish. Guinea Fowl was perfectly cooked. Pork chop was tender, and flavourful, and despite my initial scepticism by the lack of sauce, it really didn't need any. Is the a la carte dinner menu good value? Perhaps not. But the lunch menu certainly is, and I will be returning.

We have been visiting regularly the Gastro for a long time now and I can always recommend the chateaubriand steak for dinner and a full bodied wine (the manager can always recommend a good bottle of wine without letting you down) and for breakfast I always have the the eggs atlantique with Benedict sauce. However the last time the sauce was quite funny and didn't meet my expectations, I hope that was just a coincidence! Last time we ordered oysters for our starter, six to share between two. The size of the oysters was really small ! Never ask for ketch up or they will get offended and for lactose intolerant people there is no such thing is soya milk! They don't charge for extra bread which is always good. Their espresso is fine but next time I'll probably go for the chocolate! The service is in general good, taking into account they all french and therefore not very popular for that reason. However most of them are very accommodating and polite. Once you become a regular costumer and they recognize you the service becomes better and they will definitely look after you well!

The space is divided into a small bar area (think 8 seats) for walk in customers and a larger area for the restaurant, seated bistro style, which is served by an open kitchen and a friendly and slick front of house team which know the menu and wine list well. We ordered the Charcuterie plate and a Cote de Beouf to share. Neither disappointed. The charcuterie plate combined salami with lovely hints of fennel and black pepper, a moist terrine and rillettes which struck just the right balance between porky goodness and creamy unctuousness. The Cote de Beouf was a great bit of meat, tender, flavoursome and served medium rare alongside a well balanced Bearnaise sauce and fried potatoes. It was close to food perfection. To finish, we enjoyed a hot chocolate pudding (dense, rich and dark) and a Pannacotta with mango and passion fruit which was lighter but well balanced with precise levels of vanilla (from the Pannacotta) and sweetness from the fruit. Along the way, we enjoyed exploring the wine list which has an interesting selection of well priced wine, largely in the £20-£40 bracket. Although the best choices is arguably on the main list, there is a good choice by the glass and also a selection of 'bin ends' off the main list. I think the thing that we liked best was the ambiance of the place. While we found Terroir and Brawn slightly austere, Soif was buzzing with energy, whether from the staff or from neighbouring tables. The positive vibe reflects the food on diners' plates and the wine in their glasses. This combination is sure to prove popular with Clapham residents and those from further afield for some time to come.

Gazette is one of my local restaurants and I was surprised that no-one on Yelp has reviewed it yet!…read moreIt's a gem of a place, hidden away off the (rather nasty and quite smelly) York Road on the Battersea / Wandsworth border. Nestled between riverside apartments the restaurant offers traditional French cuisine in a relaxed and informal setting. It markets itself as a cafe, bar, brassiere and private room. To be fair, it's a restaurant on the top floor and a nice bar on the lower level (perfect for reading the paper and relaxing). The private room isn't exactly massive, and has a glass partition, so it's not exactly 'private' per se, just slightly removed from the other diners. My partner had his 40th b.day here and it was a great success. The menu was tailor made, with all his favourite things: truffles, foie gras, confit of duck etc. I ate here a couple of weeks ago with my mum, her friend and my other half. Service was good, if a little slow at times. The place is very very French so don't expect to be hurried with your meal - this is about relaxing and taking your time. Similarly, the service, timing and pacing of your meal will reflect this. The wine list is MASSIVE, and I do mean massive. However, if the owner is about (Walter) he will be more than happy to guide you to a suitable choice. Prices aren't cheap, but the selection is superb. The menu changes daily and has been designed to appear like a newspaper front page. I had snails to start, and then salmon with sweet potato for main. The snails were delicious, swimming in melted butter (I daren't even begin to think about how many calories were in it) , they also had a deliciously earthy taste. Yum. The salmon was cooked well, and the sweet potato was fine, if well, a little watery. My fellow diners had similarly hit and misses with their choices, a mustard and tomato tart was disappointing, a veal main course was served luke warm and had to be sent back (not a problem, and it was dealt with quickly and didn't impact on our enjoyment one bit), foie gras starter for my other half was delicious with red onion jam. Just another note about the way the food is served. Everything is quite 'rustic' so don't be surprised if your food comes served in a large pot / pan / dish. It's a cute gimmick, but not essential. Although must be a nightmare for the poor waiting staff. Speaking of the waiting staff 100% of them are French and have varying levels of English. So do try and be patient or ask another server. I find it adds to the whole French experience! Anyhoo, Gazette is well worth a look if you're in the area. it's also a great place to go with friends for a group birthday / event as long as you're not wanting to hit the local nightclubs after (they're aren't any). The place can get a little rowdy with the right crowd there and also for big sporting events (especially involving the French) you'll find a large ex-pat community.
