There is a gift shop before you begin and at the top. The ride takes about 7=8 minutes each way. They have continuous one car up and one car down. Each car holds 8-10 people, depending on their weight. They do a good job of keeping groups together. The lines can be long and we waited about 45 minutes to go up and another 25 minutes on the way down. Once at the top, there are hiking trails, some great overlooks, and of course spectacular views. I would say that the views are worth the price. You can buy peanuts to feed the chipmunks, which seemed to be a popular activity. The chipmunks were happy and well fed. The reason for 4 stars is the long wait in line. The views are 5 star but you have to be patient for the payoff.

Jared is a very knowledgeable naturalist and he has a great entertaining, conversational manner. Not only did he find tons of wildlife for us to watch, he talked all about the animal behaviors we were seeing (that's not common in my experience - a lot of guides I've toured with end the conversation at "hey look! An elk.") Even in between seeing animals, Jared was unstumpable. I had questions about the trees in RMNP and the geology and he has so many interesting facts to share. I signed myself and my two grown kids for the Panoramic Peak Tour October 4th. Joe was our guide…read moreand he offered a wealth of interesting information on nature, the trail, and the general area. It was a gorgeous day too. Joe balanced the tour with the thrill of a 4-wheel trail with time outside the vehicle in nature learning about aspens, seeing the marks of a bear cub climbing a tree, elk markings on aspens and why they chew the bark. The view from the fire tower was amazing. Joe was personable, polite, a great driver, and seemed passionate about nature. You will enjoy riding with Joe!

We signed up for the Panoramic Peaks Tour for Tuesday September 15. When we got there we found out…read morethat we would be the only 2 on the tour. We lucked into a private tour of Roosevelt National Forest. Our guide, Jay was very personable, friendly and knowledgeable. He seemed like a cool guy, relatable and interesting. He took us to a "super secret" spot, showed us some incredible views and schooled us up on the trees and animals who live there. The tower was impressive. We heard a lot more stories and facts there. As we left the tower he asked us, "since it's just the two of you, you can chose, do you want to go back and see more panoramic views or do you want to take the roller coaster back?" We chose the later. It was an absolute crazy time! Jay was really good at reading "the room". As we finished that segment he told us that he usually drives twice that fast. Holy wow. What he offered during the whole 3 hour adventure was perfect! This was definitely a highlight of our trip!
