I wanted an early afternoon snack, so I went to this RaceTrac. Parking at RaceTrac was easy to find. I noticed they have an outside patio on the side that has multiple picnic benches. It's very easy for customers to come in, quickly pick up something to eat or drink, and make their purchases. The employees are pretty good at moving the lines very quickly, whether customers are paying for gasoline, food or drinks. This RaceTrac, like most of the newer ones, is very nice and clean inside. They have lots of packaged snacks, such as popcorn, chips, beef jerky, candy, etc. They also have hot snack foods like hot dogs, corn dogs, sausages, tamales and other things that the employees place on hot rollers. Other hot foods available are pizza and sandwiches. Against the wall are a lot of various drinks, hot and cold, that are self serve. Various flavors of coffee are in one section, with another section having carbonated sodas, and yet other sections having slushies and frozen drinks. So, after looking at everything, I decided to get two steamed hot dog buns that were each in clear plastic to go containers in the warmer below the hot rollers, picked out two hot dogs from the hot rollers and put them in the buns, went to the condiment bar and pug ketchup, mustard, relish and onions on top of the dogs, and got a large iced tea from the tea dispenser. These didn't even add up to $5, and I cashed in on the home run deal. Thank you, Braves, for the free food! Thank you, RaceTrac, for providing things that are cheap, tasty, and quick!

It's not far from I-285 exit 38: US 29 / SR 8 (Lawrenceville Highway) - Tucker. This is a large, older generation QT with 24 pumps. I stopped by this gas station on the way back into town from nearby Stone Mountain. I like QT for the following reasons: (1) they have low, competitive gas prices, (2) the gas stations are generally bright, clean, and spacious, and they feel safe, (3) they're open 24/7, (4) they have free air for your tires, (5) the food is actually pretty good (the hot dogs and ice cream in particular), and (6) customer service is usually good (the uniformed employees greet anyone who enters). This QT is no exception. During my visit, I noticed this QT uses one of the newer Gilbarco Veeder-Root fuel dispensers so the filling station has presumably been upgraded at least once. This is a solid gas station and decent convenience store for the area.

They're clean, they're fast, their employees are well-trained, they have their own kitchen, they have easy meals, and their drink prices are affordable. Incidentally, their coffee is also the only kind I actually like. So when I moved to Georgia, in a huge new city, I'm not sure you can possibly imagine how happy I was to see a QT station. It was like bringing a little part of home with me. Now, that said, being so far away from Oklahoma, I had expected at least some changes in policy if not at least changes in food. But there is no change. None at all. This QT could be a twin copy of the QT I frequented regularly back in Oklahoma. Everything in the store is even in exactly the same place. And the service... that remains just as good as it was back in Oklahoma. When it comes to filling up my car, I've always trusted them much more than many of the other personally-owned stations around town.

In Atlanta, my car is fueled primarily by gasoline from QuikTrip. QTs are generally spacious,…read moreclean, safe, easily accessible, and best of all, have reasonable gas prices. This QT (store #797) is located near the intersection of Buford Highway and Clairmont Road. It's next to the giant Plaza Fiesta shopping center. After visiting numerous QT stores in Atlanta over the past 13+ years, I've identified what I consider to be 3 different "generations" or iterations of QT. One might consider a 1st generation QT to be the store on Buford Highway between North Druid Hills and Briarwood. It's one of the older, smaller QTs with not-as-nice pumps and in-store features. I consider this QT to be a 2nd generation QT. The pumps are nicer and the store is bigger. A 3rd generation QT would be like the one on Buford Highway near I-285. The newest, biggest stores are awesome and seem to have everything. Another example is the store on Clairmont near I-85. Like most QTs, this location is open 24/7 and has free air. Free air is a great perk. A great thing about this QT is it's located very close to several authentic ethnic restaurants. You can go to Pho Dai Loi #2 for arguably the town's best bowl of pho, Lee's Bakery for banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches), Nam Phuong or Com for delicious Vietnamese entrees, Havana Restaurant for Cuban cuisine, Mariscos La Riviera Nayarit for Mexican seafood, El Senor Taco for tasty tacos, and Follies for various tuna.
