This is a glorified Chevron gas station!…read more Outside of Austin, headed back to Dallas on the back roads I pulled into what I thought was just a Chevron gas station. The station was larger than normal, but walking inside, it blew me away. *It's huge inside, with so many great little additions! From the out side this place looks like just a large Chevron gas station from the out side. When you walk in, it is easy to be blown away thinking it's just a gas station. Holy cow! I stopped here on my way back from the Austin area heading back to Dallas going back up the back roads. From the outside it is clearly marked as a Chevron gas station. When I walked in, I was blown away by all of the extra features that was inside this gas station. Later I found out it is marked on the receipt as a grocery store rather than a gas station. From the outside it clearly marked as a Chevron gas station and you would never know it's so much more. Now mind you, when I first walked in, I had the impression that this was a unreported Chevron gas station. I was blown away seeing a decent little produce area for a gas station! Then as I turned the corner, there was a cold meat bin, and time after time so many other areas that blew me away. They had a wine area, hot food area, several benches to sit and enjoy your food, hot peanuts, it just kept going on and on! The prices are marked a little higher than normal, but it is 'supply & demand' here. Highway 35 can sometimes be a nightmare with construction and the rude drivers. So driving back on the back roads are even faster! Wow! I was really blown away by this place and it deceivers 5 stars, but the lady behind the register had the worst attitude, was very snippy, it may have been just a bad day. Now I hardly ever talk negative about anyone, but upper management should recognize when employees that interact with customers, they need to step it up! After leaving, I found out why they charge more, heck they are right near the river where folks are on the river boating, fishing or just out on the water. **From the layout, products they carry, the cleanness of the store, location I want to give them 5 stars, but due to high prices and poor customer relations I would mark them a 3 or 4 stars. I look forward to seeing them work on the customer relationship and service.

Stopped in for a quick snack, but it ended up being pretty disappointing. The chicken was cold,…read moretough, and honestly hard to eat--especially surprising for 11:30 in the morning. I asked for two dipping sauces and was charged 89¢, which explained why a simple order of a fountain drink and six nuggets cost more than expected. I remember when this place used to be much better. Unfortunately, the overall experience has gone downhill, from the food quality to the service. Just not what it used to be.

I had always wondered what the TXB stores were all about. Earlier this week nature made a 911 call…read morethat needed immediate response so I got to find out on an unplanned basis. Like most new mega C-stores, they are shiny modern facilities with more than just gas, chips, and beer. They're actually little food courts and restaurant oases that can make you a decent meal if you want it. Gone are the days when you're only option were hot dogs off of the steel rollers - - although plenty of those places still exist. For the necessary, I found their restrooms to be spotlessly clean and will maintained in terms of supplies. Nothing like a surprise when you're dealing with a surprise and in that regard TXB delivered. As an unexpected bonus there are self-check registers. I found that to be quite cool and bit of a time saver. I'm from that generation that was taught if you use the store's restroom, you should buy something--no matter how small--to thank them for being there for your biological needs. But, far too many times, in the quest for doing the right thing I found myself further delayed or inconvenienced. In addition to being in a hurry to get here, I was also in a hurry to get back home so time saving was very much appreciated. I think their prices on snacks were a little high and that was the only downer of the experience. Maybe I'm just not familiar with buying nuts at convenience store prices these days but $6.95 for a smallish bag of David's sunflower seeds seemed bit off the charts. I'm sure I'll be back for more or less than I came for this time and now it's not such a mystery to me. Recommended. P.S. In case you don't know what the TXB is all about it just stands for "Texas Born" which is both the store credo and mantra.

Self-Check Out I…read morelike the option for self-check out. That made things easy for buying a few drinks. Very clean store, to include the restrooms. Nice food options too, with seating.

Anna, if you want to be competitive, visit a circle k. TXB .14 cents a gallon off (limited 20…read moregallons) doesn't fill up a truck or any other vehicle I own. Your 3.99 breakfast taco is a joke. Taste like the eggs are from a carton and the size of it is not worth $3.99. Come visit me, I would love to buy you a competitive $4.00 breakfast taco and a cup of coffee. Eggs are cheap and TXB acts like they are still $6.00 a dozen. And you cant tell me the cost is labor based because your labor cost is no different than anyone else who sells Breakfast tacos. What everyone is paying for is the TXB branding. Take a look at all the TXB merchandise, crazy price! From ball caps to t-shirts to taco and drinks. People dont expect Walmart pricing but stop robbing people. Two words I would like to share, QUALITY: Make sure you are selling a product that is worth the dollar. QUANTITY: when your selling a $3.99 product make sure the people are getting their money's worth. So please do not insult my intelligence when it comes to TXB wanting to be a competitive market. TXB is looking out for themselves. I see window decorations, TXB calls it daily specials...Does TXB have some of the cleanest stores, yes, No doubt! You can hang that $25.00 cap on that! When TXB started opening stores in my town I was proud of yall. TEXAS IS BETTER THAN THIS! TXB proudly advertises as a Texas based store, Everything is suppose to be bigger and better in Texas, right? Take a look around and ask yourself if TXB lives up to that, and im not referring to the square footage of your stores. One more thing, stopped in a TBX while heading to the lake, How in the heck can TXB feel good about themselves selling ice for 4.00 a bag? Im guessing the bags are $3.50, because water used to make ice cant be anymore than .50 cents a bag. The bags are nice! Customer paying for TXB branding maybe? I walked 20 feet with that $3.50 bag, opened the bag, threw the ice in my ice chest and the bag went straight into your trash can. Believe it or not a lot of people do the same thing! No one else ever sees that nifty little bag TXB is so proud of. Hope you having a good week. Thanks for listening, Greg B.
