Pump stations
Jonnita W.

Nice station with a separate car wash across. Large vehicle entrances for getting to gas pumps. Overhead music playing while pumping. It's also a nice station as there is a very small green area that you can get out and street your legs as well as walk your dog in it. Nice large tress surrounds the property. $3.99 a gal. This weekend visit

Rude gas station attendants gang up on you with attitude and threaten customers, as I witnessed, with their "security officer" on site. Watched two "lady" register jockeys kick a mom and little girl out of the store because she didn't have a mask and was vaccinated, rather than offering them one, which they had and gave out to other customers of their choosing. Nasty attitudes on a power trip. Used the term "people like you" as they fought yet another customer on the issue. The manager, Amanda, not on site to coach her employees. The two women working on Sunday, August 1 at about 2 pm need to be fired and never work in the service industry, lest they forget they are IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. They work for US. NOT the other way around.

This is my usual stop to get gas and a snack & drink, for the road, when leaving Reno to head home. Lots of snacks & drinks to choose from as well as Reno/Tahoe souvenirs (Incase you forgot to buy some). Public restrooms available. Was clean inside and out.

This entire place kind of large on the inside didn't have a single fresh or even day/old sandwich of any kind just frozen stuff that you can microwave for other stuff that you can microwave but no fresh deli sandwiches oh my gosh I'm so hungry right now but I refuse eat anything that uses a microwave. Yuck

On the way back home I filled up here at Chevron right off of Boomtown's exit. This location is pretty big! There's plenty of wide open space for folks with RV's, trailers and large vehicles to pull right in. Also plenty of parking. Unleaded gas was at 2.999 per gallon. I guess that was the going ripoff rate. There's a store that carried everything from ice cream to souvenirs. Of course, I needed my fix in preparation for the snowy weather up ahead. So we grabbed some chips, polish sausages, candy bars and sodas to go. Cheerful golden girls manned the counters and took care of their customers with a class act. The restrooms are located inside the store. To my surprise the men's restroom was clean! Not the usual dilapidated, dim, wet floor, no hot water, out of soap, out of paper towels and "call this number for a good time ..." on the walls. Don't get me wrong though. I'm no fan of any particular gas station besides the ones that sport the lowest prices and close to home for convenience sake. Taken all things into consideration, when in Reno, Boomtown Chevron is now a sure stop for me...

Right off the freeway. Lots of pumps equals no waiting time to get gas. They even have a good size mini mart for little nick nacks.

Here is my plan every time I stop: Gas up, use the restrooms, and then head over to Cabela's (next door).

I was on a drive from Sacramento, CA to Orem, UT to give my daughter away in marriage when my truck…read morebegan losing power on the western slopes of the Sierras. I debated turning back but I was loaded up with wedding supplies, which created serious timing and logistical concerns. With my check engine light flashing (indicating a critical condition) I prayed that it was either a fluke or something not too difficult to repair. As I hit the summit and the engine load eased the check engine light turned off and I breathed a sigh of relief. I still needed a plan though because these things don't solve themselves. After a quick search I found that Frank's was not far away. As I pulled in I was not optimistic about the level of service or concern that I might receive because of my unfamiliarity with the area. But my mind was quickly changed when the owner greeted me. Professionally dressed and attentive he listened to my predicament and offered to have a tech diagnose the problem. Since there was no active code (check engine light was still off), they used their scan tool to discover that one of my cylinders was misfiring. At this point I needed to decide whether to push on or find a U-Haul rental and transfer everything over. With their input I decided on the former. The owner did not charge but encouraged me to tip his tech (who was very considerate). I was way ahead of him and gladly gave the young man a twenty. In the end, I made it to my destination but not without a few concerning moments. At my Airbnb I was able to swap out my coils and plugs (with the help of my mechanic son who knew what I was up against and was able to pack some essential tools prior to his arrival from out of state) and the problem was solved. Thanks to Frank's for helping me know what I was up against and for their professionalism!

Today, they were the only place with bags of ice in stock. A sign on the ice door said $3.99+ tax. (First of all, a bag of ice sold in a market is a grocery food product & is NON-TAXABLE).. I set the ice on the counter and handed the cashier a $10 bill. She rang it up & tried to give me $2 in change. UNBELIEVABLE !! When I pointed out the discrepancy, the cashier said, "I already rang it up" as if that's it !! I pointed to the sign on the glass ice door located about 10 feet from the register. She just looked back at the cash register with that deer in the headlights blank stare. I said, the ice is $3.99 !! After additional thought, she opened the register and handed over the correct change. As I turned to leave, the customer in line behind me said, "NICE CATCH'
