I've been a frequent customer since maybe 2008. This location somehow always manages to hire GREAT employees, and hold them for a long time. I was very close with a woman, who left closer to a decade ago, that had worked at the location for almost 30 years if I recall correctly. I miss seeing her, she once held a poster for my friend and I, since she knew we'd want it. I still have it up in my room. Let's next talk about the inside and the outside. Their gas station is amazing. While it may not consistently be one of the cheaper places, I don't know that it's too frequently one of the more expensive places. I think it's typically standard in the middle. Back to the pumps themselves. They're great, clean, and there are enough of them. Parking is SLIGHTLY cramped, but honestly that's the case with so many gas stations in town. AND it's better than most of those. So no points revoked for me. Inside is extremely clean as well. It's not the BIGGEST, but it's average sized and well stocked. They should have new products close to when they release, and their hand scooped ice cream is amazing. I haven't had it in a while, so I don't know if it's affordable, but there's not too many dedicated ice cream spots in town...so it can't be THAT crazy expensive, I'd think. It's incredibly easy access. If you're heading north, just make two right turns and then turn right into the establishment. That's done with ease unless there's somehow insane traffic in our small town. If you're heading south, it just has one left turn and right lane merge to start with, and neither are very bad or difficult to do at all. Overall, their employees are some of the best in town. It is one of the CLEANEST locations in town. They have a good gas station AND convenience store. I really don't know of too many locations I've EVER been to, that compare to this.

Just pulling in you immediately notice how much space there is in the parking lot and how many parking spots there are! Then you notice that the building actually looks PHENOMENAL! To me I feel like I'm going to like a Chevron mansion! Once you get inside you're shocked at how much space there is and how clean it is! Tons of stuff on the shelves and in the fridges! Great selection is important to me because I collect Mountain Dew! It's also connected to the Indy Way Diner which is also a great diner! (I think I've been 1 time and didn't hate it so I can't really say that my opinion is for sure accurate or not lol!) I can't speak on the gas prices, because I don't come here to get gas. But as for the pumps themselves, they look clean and easy to use. Major pro, because sometimes that's not the case. As for the minit mart, man oh man is it one of my favorites. It always has a selection of beverages I'm looking for...and often has new varieties available a few days or even a week, before release. Prices aren't terrible either. It's a relatively clean minit mart too. Also relatively spacious, and I'm drawing a blank...but there's diner tables I think? I'm 99% certain. As for the non-beverage selection, always stellar too. ON TOP OF the hot food at the register. I live in an unusual setting, we have a whole three-story building to ourselves. There's a minit mart across the street...no hot food. This place satisfies that urge. Now for the main event: the chicken on top of the building. I call this "the chicken store" and my FRIENDS know where I mean. This IS the chicken store. I always saw that chicken as a very young child, and wanted to go there. As for employees, you know I've never seen the same worker twice. I've never had any problems, though. I just can't name a particularly outstanding person. Overall, this checks every box. It has a gas station outside, of course. It's exactly what you'd expect, all hours of the day. No issues there. Same lower than average prices. I've got no problems with their gas. But, if you pay with cash, beware of the inside. Unfortunately, I've come here semi-regularly for the last few years. I'd still come at least a couple times a year, before I moved to living closer to it in 2020. I can confidently say, I've never seen this location hire a good cashier. Most don't enjoy their job. Or they'll do a bad job, amongst all other critiques people have for employees. I once witnessed a very personal argument between two employees, because they were yelling at each other as loud as they possibly could. It's really a night and day difference from the Kelso location, which holds their employees better and hires better ones too. It's got a terrible ambiance because of that, and because of the customers who roll in. You're gonna see the usual odd customers of Longview, to put it kindly. It's also just a dirtier feeling store overall, especially when compared to Kelso. However I will say, they seem to keep their stocking situation in a good place. You may not find hot food, which is unfortunately generally the case with most ampm's the past few years, but otherwise this should have what you expect from ampm. Here's a way to describe it: if they had a good cashier, then it'd probably be a pretty good location. You see odd people all around town, so that's not make or break for me. I've unfortunately never managed to purchase any hot food at this establishment, they're always out. If it's anything like other ampm's, it's pretty tasty, affordable and very hot. Is there anything else to say? I guess I could include that I overall love "ampm" and will have no problem stopping by here. The employees being bad aren't exactly an uncommon thing in town. Overall, this establishment is a bit more suspect than you'd expect considering its location. It keeps things in stock, has a good gas station, and shouldn't be too deterring to locals. Visitors might be a different story, because employees can't be kept, and aren't good enough to necessarily be sad about that. I grew up going here a lot, and still go as much as I can. Let's begin with the employees. I know many of them very well, and even if I didn't they'd be great workers. They're fast and friendly. Gas prices are usually some of the cheapest around, but their pumps and overall station are something amazing. It's got an amazing atmosphere during the day, and if it's not too busy at night it's good too. Most everything feels clean, the station is well lit, and the convenience store doesn't just fall in line with your average ampm. I feel they've optimized it for the best walkthrough experience, but a lot of my thoughts on anything about this establishment could very easily be biased. They have amazing hot food! They don't just do the average gas station food, which is commendable. Along with seemingly 50 fountain drink options rivaling Coke Freestyle or Pepsi Spire, and a coffee and hot chocolate station, there's everything you need here when combined with the "cold" food and drinks in the rest of the store. Their bathroom can be questionable, but just look at the electric vehicle charger in front of it and pretend they don't have a bathroom. It'll maybe even help you feel less cramped in the parking lot, and less upset about the lack of parking spots. Those are very small complaints and only an issue during peak hours. Overall, this is one of my all-time favorite gas stations. Aside from the occasional missing food or beverage upon their release, and the previous small inconveniences I mentioned, I love stopping by here. OH! Super cheap prices in store, not just out. However, they're not the best at keeping the convenience store fully stocked. There were talks for a while about adding hot food, that I'm super happy to say have finally been implemented. It has brought me much joy, because they added Krispy Krunchy Chicken. It's one of my favorite chicken places, and shockingly high quality for gas station restaurants. That has continued its streak at this establishment, thankfully. It's also keeping my overall score positive. Which brings me to the convenience store. It's essentially the same, except frequently not stocked in certain areas. They're hit or miss on having the new items as well. I'd say they'll work for regular items the average consumer is looking to find, and the prices are about average. It can also feel less clean and more cramped inside, but that isn't atypical for convenience stores, or particularly frustrating at this location. Onto the gas prices. They were some of the cheapest in the area, but are now closer to average. I think it's experienced a decline in traffic for that reason. Overall, it's maybe about the same as when it was first made a Marathon (from the previous Shell.) Their employees are incredibly nice and accommodating, so you should have a pleasant enough experience.

The driver on the second Uber ride was named Rick also so that was interesting. "what does this have to do with arco am pm on 1700 Allen st?" you might be wondering. Be patient -- this isn't a race. I was just about to get to that. The reason I'm telling you all of this is that the break down happened at this very arco am pm. While Rick bravely handled getting auto parts and the subsequent repair work, myself and three other people were stranded at this humble outpost. Were we happy to find ourselves at an arco am pm for two hours? No, no we were not. But moments like these test a man -- or a woman -- forcing you to look deep within yourself for reserves of strength that you don't know if you will find. And when you endure tests like this you need support. Sure we all had each other and that's not nothing. But it's not enough. You need other things, things which your bus friends can't give you. Let's go through those things. First, you need a toilet. Arco am pm has you covered, with one reasonably clean bathroom. Toilet paper, soap, paper towels, all can be found in ample supply. Some jerk had scrawled a hateful message on the bathroom wall and another patron wrote a scathing rebuttal. While I wished that there were no hateful remark to rebut in the first place, this is the world we live in. As the Bible says, "man is born into trouble as surely as sparks fly upward." So it was nice to see at least some human decency reflected in there. You also need refreshing drinks. While we were only stranded here for a few hours, there's no doubt in my mind that we could have been here for *days* and never been thirsty for a moment, such is the bounty of drinks at this arco am pm. But you don't just need these *things*. There are also intangible needs... The need for love. And we found love here. Laura, an employee of this establishment was a motherly presence who came out to check on us and let us know that the arco am pm would be a safe harbor for us through this ordeal. She could've been what hobos would call a "bull", the often cruel railyard police who would harrass any hobo, tramp, or bum that entered their domain, but instead she chose kindness, and for that we were thankful. There was also a hot case with little sandwiches and things.
