To enjoy the country roads and hiking trails of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, I need to be supplied with both car and human fuel. Lately I have been fueling up at the Terrible's Chevron off of Lake Mead Parkway at Pawnee Lane. If anything I strive to emphasize in this review, it is that as of April 30, 2015 ; this is the LAST name brand fuel station on eastbound Lake Mead Parkway before Lake Las Vegas and the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. This is really the Last Chance Gas Stop. This Terrible's Chevron is not terrible. It features three fuel islands with decent room for cars to maneuver. The only thing is that many of the cars fueling up here are towing boats. This leads into the fact that this is a Chevron that is popular with the Lake Mead boating community. I usually see boat owners in the convenience store buying fuel for their boats or fuel in the form of beer for a good time on Lake Mead. The convenience store is a grand size shop that offers the conveniences of an ATM, snacks, hydration, and necessary commodities. Before my adventures out on the country roads and trails of Lake Mead, I stock up on hydration. I usually purchase two 32-ounce bottles of Power Ade Zero with a 44 ounce Coke fountain beverage. The Freestyle Coke machine offers over 100 varieties of Coke beverages. I fill my cup with Glaceau Fruitwater. I have come to the conclusion that this is the perfect beverage to start off an adventure. When I first pour it into the cup until several minutes later, it is a refreshing berry tasting sparkling beverage. As it warms up in the sun, it changes into a warm Crystal Light tasting beverage. When I fill up here in the Spring of 2015, my eyes glance at a landscape in transition. Currently I could see across the Valley to the Strip. This is changing as bulldozers turn this desert into the Cadence Master Planned Community. When my eyes look at the edge of the property, they see the Lake Mead Parkway Trail which in effect also makes this Chevron a bicyclist and pedestrian stop. Generally speaking I rate this Chevron three stars. However, if you are headed into the Lake Mead National Recreation Area nearing empty on car and people fuel, you'll most likely rate a stop at the last name brand fuel station on Lake Mead Parkway before the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and Lake Las Vegas five stars.

I like Chevron cause they have the best condition pumps usually, not like those off brand places where you don't know if your card number is gonna get cloned or some shit. Credit card accepted and I set the pump to fill. These gas nozzles here in Nevada sure beat the heck outta those big fat nozzles in California that area total pain to use compared to these. The hotel is near this Costco, so I decided to try to avoid the big lines and go there early. Great, no big lines, but still plenty of people pumping gas early. The station opens at 6 am and closes like maybe 9 pm, one hour after the store closes. Cheapest gas around and sure is less here than in California! Plus, if you have a Citi Costco card (doubles as a membership card), you get 5% off gas when you get it as a Costco gas station! I love they have those red and green signals posted on each pump island, telling you which pump on the island is available. You do know as well, that the pump hoses are long enough to stretch to the other side of your car id you pull in with your filler spot on the opposite side of the pumps. Just one thing I'd like is some windshield cleaning supplies, to clean while the car fills, but I guess that might slow the flow of vehicles ... sort of like when that big fat motorhome with a 75 gallon tank pulls in!

They've transformed it from a frustrating traffic flow situation into a well-organized setup with 32 pumps. While some of the pumps still feature the old stickers, it seems like they may have refurbished the existing ones along with adding new ones. Regardless, COSTCO has consistently provided great value with their fuel prices, and this upgrade is a fantastic example of how they're modernizing their facilities to better meet the needs of their members.
