I would give this gas Station / convenience store a higher rating if it were 6-12 months ago, but…read morelately they have hired some anti-social employees that are dragging the place down. When they first opened and for a while after, they hired nice, friendly, people persons in the store. But something changed recently and now there are some workers there who act like they have never been around people. Most of the women aren't so bad, because the ones with an attitude are smart enough not to spout off - they just don't say much of nothing... no "have a nice day" no "thank you" or any type of ending salutation after your transaction. They just don't say anything - but that isn't as bad as the "males" who have issues. Unlike the females, they want to let you know they are sensitive, pissed off or have mental issues. There are two that I have encountered, one a young man and the other an old snaggle-toothed man with the last shag haircut. Both of the men with attitudes have two eyes, there is one who has one eye and he was great - haven't seen him for a while, though.
Anyway - the last encounter I had was with the old dude. I asked for a box of cigarettes, and he was looking around, and then he named the wrong brand. The cigarettes were straight ahead of me, behind the counter. Like any normal human being who doesn't climb out of a tree would do, I simply pointed at the cigarettes and said, "those right there". This dude snaps - "I don't need you to tell me! I'll find them!". I said "hey, its only natural for a person to point out where something is when someone can't find it..." He replies, "No, no that ain't the way it works...""I'll find it myself... AND THAT'S THE WAY IT WORKS". This guy was basically trying to tell me how to conduct myself, and acting as if it bothered him for someone to point out where something is. He has no idea of how to treat a customer, he acts like someone hanging out on the street corner or something.
A few weeks ago the same scenario, but with this young guy. I pointed out the cigarettes and he popped up like he was going to do something. He grabbed a box that didn't look like my brand, and I asked him are they [my brand name]. He snapped "I know what I am doing!" As if to accuse me of saying he was incompetent. There is no understanding that their job is to provide customers with what they want, not to look for customers to make their day easy. Both of these guys act like people are supposed to know them and what issues they have. They also don't seem to realize that they represent a company and company policies, not "themselves". next thing you know they will be on the side cooking BBQ and playing dominoes...
Instead of arguing with ignorance, I left a complaint with the Customer Care. I will also be talking to the Store Manager when she gets in. That is the way to handle these problems, not have a ghetto screaming match, or "tell someone" about themselves. They are dragging the place down and making it irritating to think about going there. If Walmart would keep the cigarettes I purchase in stock like they did before the gas station came about, I wouldn't have a need to go in there - but they are getting my business every week; so I think I deserve better treatment than to have someone try to demean me in front of a store full of customers.
