Maxwell (called out by Raymond F) is the worst. Rude, condescending, accusatory, and disrespectful. Have a monthly pass. Accidentally misspoke to the guys outside about which tier I have when giving my car. Even though I've been here 3 times this month no other attendant offered to correct my receipt calling out the service plan I pay for vs the wash level to be provided. Maxwell claimed I was deliberately trying to "pull the wool over his eyes" lol. For $4 lol. And that he can't speak as to why 3x this month no one has corrected the plan type and membership level. Aloof, arrogant, and absolves any desire to accept that his tone might be inappropriate and deterring to repeat customers. All in all: a cancer for the business. I would fire him immediately if I owned the c store. Just got fuel here so I can't comment on the car washes... well I can comment... my comment is that my car is always dirty and I feel a little embarrassed to get fuel here because I know everyone thinks I'll get it washed or need to have it washed... not today everyone... not today! Roomy gas station without obnoxiously loud ads playing on the pumps. This is a flow type of gas station so you also won't find cars moving about Willy Nilly which is nice. We've been going to this gas station off and on over the past 5 years when we visit the area and we will be zooming thru again in November this year and when i saw some of the reviews that were bad I was a little concerned and wrote to chevron and got a nice email from corporate then a nice call from the stations' manager Kevin who both ensured that the bathroom CAN be used by customers getting gas and you can even call ahead to be sure before going... They have GREAT customer care and even though bathroom use is not a fun conversation, well, its only human, and when getting gas and paying for treats too before a long journey out of town back home, best to use the facilities. I actually prefer this gas station because of it's out-of-the-way location inside this busy shopping center. Price is expensive when compared to Costco and generic stations but you'll be hard pressed to find other options close by. There's an ARCO down two exits but it's in a hard to reach location because of it's location under the 56. - Inside is nice and clean if you're looking for grab and go snack and drinks options. - Pumps are pretty solid. I come here because it's convenient to get on and off the freeway here and they have a lot of pumps so I never have to wait for one. The convenience store has a nice variety of snacks, drinks and little items and the employees have always been polite to me. The gas station is kept clean and well maintained. Infuriating. Stoped for gas and decided to get a wash. Guy tried to up sell me. Then they locked the keys in the car. Pried my door and bent it. Finally called a tow truck to open it. Not to mention they didn't even finish cleaning it until after the tow truck came and unlocked it. So the car is still dirty. Worst part was is I was on my way to pick up my kids and this ordeal made me super late. Two thumbs down. Oh yea when I asked for a refund all I got was serious attitude from the clerk. Altercation with employee at Del Mar Chevron: Tonight I filled up my car at the Chevron in Del Mar while my friend used the restroom. I decided to use the restroom after she returned, at which point she told me the women's room was out of order (had trouble flushing). Based on this information, I walked in and went directly to the (single stall) men's room. After I came out of the bathroom, I was informed by the cashier that I had used the wrong restroom. I assumed he was telling me for my sake (?) and said "oh, that's alright". He continued to look at me and shake his head. At this point, it became clear to me he had an issue with me using the men's room. When I asked if there was a problem, the cashier told me that I had broken the law and said "get out of the store". Shocked, I asked how I had broken the law. He claimed I was a sex offender (again, this was a single stall bathroom) for using the men's bathroom. He threatened to call the cops until I left. I encouraged him to call them, as I am confident no law was broken. He continually told me to "Get the f*ck out of the store". He told me that he was the owner of the establishment and that I was a "f*cking b*tch" and needed to "get the f*ck out". After the surprise of this unnecessary and highly contentious exchange wore off, I felt compelled this story on here so 1. if you are a person who uses a bathroom other than the one other's may assume you "should" then please avoid the Del Mar Chevron 2. I will no longer be patronizing Chevron and encourage others to find another gas station as well. 3. Great gas stations, very clean, and you can find great coupons for wash discount. Then to me, most importantly is floors, product and items for sale which is always displayed neatly and saves your life if you're invited somewhere and you need a card or present - bathroom clean.
