Very disappointing customer service. When I asked to use the restroom, the employee told me they did not have one. After I pointed out that there was clearly a restroom on the premises, she changed her story and said it was "out of service." Being dishonest with customers is unacceptable. The interaction felt disrespectful and unprofessional. If the restroom was truly unavailable, that should have been explained honestly from the beginning instead of giving misleading information. This experience left a very negative impression. Customer service should be based on honesty, respect, and basic courtesy, all of which were lacking during my visit. Just went to the gas station for refueling, and they overcharged me by $10. The male staff was particularly rude. I clearly gave $60, but he insisted I only gave $50. I requested to check the surveillance footage, but he casually glanced and said there was only $50. I won't be coming back here again. I hope everyone pays attention when visiting. read more

They took advantage of elderly and customer whom pay cash. My dad give the lady (extremely rude) $55 cash for gas, she then said he only given her $25, as my dad in his 70's did not speak English walked out feeling cheated because he clearly give her $55. As I was about to help him write a bad review on Google to express his frustration, I came across multiple reviews about this lady whom worked at the gas station cheating on people with their money. Now I strongly believe this is NOT an isolated case in fact they been taking advantage of elderly as an easy target or whom ever using cash as a payment method. I hardly ever come here but I stopped here tonight. TRICKERY! The sign says premium for like $4.65 or so (which is high but whatever. I need a little gas) I park and start pumping gas when I notice the pump says $4.75. Ok, WTF stupid gas pump. So I look over at the price sign and I notice a second sign all the way down at the ground. It shows two prices. $4.65 for cash or chevron card. And the other part of the sign says $4.75. I don't like getting bamboozled so I pumped like 2 gallons and filled the rest at my normal chevron. Oh yeah. I came here for an oil change and free brake check during lunch. Highly recommend it! Good price, quick and honest. Hector got everything done in the amount of time it took me to hit the buffet at Shakey's Bunch O'Lunch (down the street). I'm never going to the Dealer again; where it takes hours to get a simple oil change and rip off with unnecessary repairs. read more

(Filled-Up 10/08/12 M @ 6pm): I got gas when you passed along your credit card charge costs to me! If it weren't for the dreadful red solid light outline of a gas pump that stared at me while the gas needle was nearly flat-lined, I wouldn't have pulled into Al's Chevron this unpleasant day and would have gone further down the street. My friend and I just returned from a wedding in Temecula the day before, and I drove her to school at Cal State University Los Angeles (CSULA), with the horrible beacon of the "your gas tank is woefully empty" light on. I desperately needed to fill-up before we went home. So through the help of my handy-dandy Yelp app, I found several gas stations in the area. However, I REALLY needed to fill-up as my Toaster was feeling weak. I rolled into the station and sadly looked up at the price sign ($4.89/gallon credit card price). If I lived on a cash basis, the price would've been $4.79/gallon (big whoops!). However, it felt like adding insult to huge gaping hole injury that I had to pay ten-cents more per gallon so Al didn't have to pay for the cost of his business. What an a-hole! In this case, "The Man" had me by the balls, so I had to pay whatever the cost was. I begrudgingly swiped my credit card...and again, and again, until finally it message read, "Please see attendant." Eff-me! So I stomped into the cashier shack told the woman how much I wanted to charge ($50.00 - apparently they are no longer allowed to hold your credit card until your filled-up for fear that you may simply drive away without paying). Back to the pump station, I ripped the hose off, jammed it into nozzle, and strangled the level until the gas stopped flowing...slightly over ten gallons later. Yeah, I wasn't very happy. The service was fine, as it wasn't the woman's fault for this crappy way of her boss doing business. My apologies if I was crash to her in any way. As for Al, suck this gas nozzle! Parking was nearly non-existent. This shouldn't be a problem if you're just getting gas, but this place was also a full service location with mechanic garages and snacks inside. Overall, Al's Chevron was a complete dud on so many levels - gouge-like prices, extra fees, and not so easy to pull into off a very busy intersection (Fremont Ave. was the main thoroughfare). I found absolutely no value as noted by the prices (and everything else) I quoted above (total bill was $50.00; no tip required). The atmosphere was a gas station with mechanics garage on a very busy corner with nary the necessary size, only one "easy" way to enter, and only eight serviceable pumps (four columns with two pumps each). It didn't have any of the amenities like many other Chevrons' I've pumped at like TVs, cleanliness, etc. The attire was total casual, so I would be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. And they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX...but even that won't save them in my book! read more

I recently purchased 4 Chevron gift cards (2 $25 & 2 $50. from this Chevron station and one of them was not activated and I went back to discuss this but the owner, Al, was not in. The catchier girl called him at home and he told her that there is nothing he could do, he told her (and I heard him, she had him on the speaker) he said that i used the card and hung up. I'm a senior and purchased these cards for gifts. And I live around the corner and have been buying my gas there for over 15 years. how rude and unethical this Al is and is a poor example of Chevrons reputation. I'm sure with todays technology the owner Al could have at least asked me to come in to meet with him and investigate the situation with the technology on hand today. But he just said he was taking a shower and could not do anything and that I must have used the card. I will not ever use CHEVRON stations again. He is a crook and unethical. I will be reaching out to the BBB as well as Chevron's headquarters. It is not about the $50.00 but more the principal of this matter. Even the catchier mentioned some thing about its only $50.00. Every time I've come there I've received the worst customer service from the red headed woman that came here! She sighs and whines when I walk in to pay with cash and has to stop watching whatever she's watching on her phone and she refused to take five dollars in quarters because she didn't "have room" for change in the register. Yet when she opened the drawer to put the cash in all the coin slots were empty. I already had the change laid out and counted in front of her! My brake's went out nearly two weeks ago as I was driving my friend's daughter home from school. Yikes! It was clear that I could not drive any further without risking my life. Al's was right around the corner and I took my car there. I've been going to the same mechanic for ten-plus years now (Blas Auto Repair in Eagle Rock). I was horrified at the thought that someone else would touch my car. I took it in with great apprehension. They could not look at it immediately, but would call. Eventually, they told me that I would have to leave my car overnight. My fears were unfounded and my brakes are just fine now. The price was good and they seemed very nice. I recommend that you consider them at the very least. My heart still belongs to my mechanic, but I know that there's another repair shop I trust. read more

I don't know if it's discrimination, but my son, who is black, walked into this Chevron station and asked if he could put air in his tires and they said he had to buy gas. While he was spending his last dollar on gas he saw a white guy pull in without buying gas and they turned the air on without him buying gas. I always get Chevron(because it has techron, duh) and I come here ONLY when Im in a hurry. This is such a convenient location for a gas station for a lot of traffic. But its always about 20 cents more per gallon compared with other chevrons. Their pumps are old, and I really rather go to the one on atlantic. But sometimes, I am in such a crunch for time(ie need gas before work, when im running late already), I feel like I would just need to take it up the butt and pay that $0.20 cents per gallon. They ran out of regular and plus gas, but didn't post it. So after using my Vons credit of 10 cents off per gallon, I had to pay 10 cents more per gallon to use supreme. My car doesn't need supreme. Ask before pumping gas here :( read more

WAY OVERPRICED! Scam Artists! They take advantage of people getting off the 710. There's no competition for blocks! I went in to buy a gift card, I had 5 twenty dollar bills, because many stations don't sell gas gift cards. I gave the lady $100 and she was trying to make the purchase and said the machine had problems, so she went back to find the manager. BIG mistake, I shoulda asked her for my money back. When they came back, the Manager asked what I wanted, I said I wanted a $100 gift card. They counted the bills in front of me and there were only 4! I said, "No way I had $100" Why did she try to make the purchase in the first place? It means she already knew I gave $100 and tried to enter in the machine, but had problems (alleged problems), I think she lied. I demanded to see the surveillance cameras, in which the manager balked! He said it was no use because it's not clear. WTH? This place is run by Mexicans, they'll lie and cheat you pants down! Ok, this review is for the attendant that works in the evenings, I don't know his name but he's slim and wears a goatee. It's NOT any of the guys that work in the garage (Hector or Carlos) or the owner Al, or his daughter(s). This guy is relatively new and if I can describe him in one word he's "Rude". It's not just with me, I've seen how he treats other customers as well, this guy just doesn't like people. It's been Al's policy (owner) for sometime to allow customers that need air for there tires to use the pumps free of charge. I've been a paying customer for over 20 years at Al's Chevron (garage and gas) and when I politely asked the attendant to please turn on the pumps so I put some air in a low tire he said "you need to pay". I explained to the attendant that Al permits his customers the use of the pumps free of charge and his response was "everybody says that, I've been working here three years and everybody say's the same thing". Now your thinking, just pay the buck for the air and get over it, well I didn't have enough change on me and more importantly, doesn't this guy value the customer. He's certainly seen me many times over the years coming in and purchasing gas and garage services, he definitely knows I'm a paying customer. So I'm thinking what's this guy problem, it's obvious that he hates his job and doesn't like people, unfortunately this guy is driving customers away from Al's Chevron. 3/28/2016: Rating changed to 5 stars! The problem with the rude employee has been resolved. All the existing employees working at the station are polite and customer focused and am quite happy to see they got their mojo back! 3/29/2016: Rating changed back to 1 star.. Mr. Rude is back, must of been on vacation. The two weeks he was gone there was a noticeable difference in customer service at the station. This review is only for Al who is manager of the auto repair . I hate writing bad reviews but he wasted my time already so here I am. My boyfriend took my car to see how much he would charge to replace some bolts that are loose behind my wheel. We knew already exactly where it was and what we needed. In no way did Al have to even touch the car. Just give us a quote. So he sees what it is and says we would have to go buy the bolts and nuts ourselves and then come back to get them replaced. The price he quotes us is only $15 for him to do the most minimal work. And we were completely fine with that. A few days later I go back with the bolts and nuts I ordered and alllll of a sudden my price gets jacked up $10!! I'm dealing with Al's assisant Hector and he is on the phone relaying our messages. Al says because he looked at the car last week and now I'm back it's going to be $25. If he was going to charge me for looking at my car then he should have charged it last week not add it on to a whole new service. This is the second time he has done this to me personally. People who go to him for the past 20 years if course see a different side of him. But to us not regulars or prices get jacked up. So in the end he said if I don't want it to go somewhere else.... So I did and actually got it done for free at Y-tires just down the street from him. Sorry Al but you are the definition of bad business. read more
