Find me a better hot dog anywhere...you can't. I'm finally back in Oklahoma, and one of the first things on my mind is "when can I drive to Muskogee and get a few Chet's chili dogs?" I've gone to the West side location since elementary school when my dad would take me to lunch every Friday. Used to sit in the little window crevice when I fit. I have to make this review for my son. I haven't had Chet's in several years. But he loves their hotdogs no chilli, cheese, or onions. Just plain. I guess this is his go to when he's THAT hungry. So if this is only what you prefer, then give them a try!! My son is Autistic and is an extreme food enthusiast. He's 11... there aren't a lot of menus in town for food sensorys, etc.. I've had this place on my list for a while ! Made the trip up to visit my in laws and stopped by for lunch. Hands down the best chili cheese hot dog I've had, slapped some mustard and relish on the dogs. Chili is amazing and will be buying it by the pound next go around. The food here is always fantastic. Chet's was here before I was. Been eating here for many years and then introduced my son to it. The service is always great and it has a great hometown feel. Really the ambiance is like no other. It's a small little hut with five stools at the counter. I'll probably have to have some tomorrow. read more

We drove 2 to 2-1/2 hours to Chet's. Our Aunt saw them on TV and she wanted to make a day trip out of it. So off we went. I had no idea what to expect. We drove to one of the Chet's and realized there was not much indoor seating. Since we drove so far, we wanted to sit down and enjoy the food. We drove to the other location to find it is a standard stand type establishment. Very minimal seating inside, like 4 bar stools and table for 2. Luckily when we arrived, the patrons at the counter were just leaving so we were able to sit at the counter. The menu is very basic and simple. Why fix it if it's not broken?! We ordered chili and regular hot dogs with/without fixins, side of chips and drink. It was cool to just sit and order as you ate. The son of owner and girlfriend were working that day. We had great conversations with them while they still assisted other patrons at drive-through, walk-in and phone... in addition to vendors coming in and out. I can't say the chili and hot dogs were out of this world, but definitely a good chili dog. They may be opening a stand or two near us so we will definitely make a point to stop by. Best hot dogs is a joke! I decided to go here because I have heard great things about it. I don't know if the people who recommend are high or just don't understand good food. First of all they serve is dogs, frito chili pie, drinks, and ice cream (shakes). I was expecting all sorts of different kinds of hot dogs (New York, Chicago, California, ball park, foot long), nope you can get chili, cheese, or regular. To top things off the lady that made my food didn't know what a chili dog was when I asked for one. And two she was talking about how none of the equipment was working correctly. My chili cheese dog was a Huge disappointment. IT WAS A SLIM JIM IN A BUN! I will NOT recommend this establishment ESPECIALLY for the price. I can make veered dogs at home. read more

They only do hot dogs, you can get mustard, relish, onion, cheese or chile. This as simple as it gets. The young man an his girlfriend (sorry didn't get there names) working were very nice when in between customers chat with us. Very small about 6 stools at the counter I liked it. Chile was very good. They are hoping to open one in Norman with in the year. read more

Hotdog was pretty good. Root beer float too. I like how tiny and busy the place is. My friend and I were lucky to come at at time when two seats were available, the bar top was full with just 4 people sitting at it. The server took our drink order and instead of saying "we are out of ice cream," she let me know more was being made. The hotdog slander in the open kitchen area took our order. 1 chili cheese dog with mustard and onions, 1 cheese dog with mustard and onions, two floats, one DP. While we waited, two people walked in and noticed the full house so they turned around and walked back to their car, probably going through the drive-thru so they could still enjoy their A/C. Now, I'm sure they would have chosen Sonic across the street if they would have heard the girl who suddenly was no longer a customer at the bar top but a server behind the bar, say, "White people think they deserve service right away." And later, after walking away to think on it some more, "All they had to do was wait for me to get up." Now, I've already ordered at this time and the small inconvenience I had gone through to turn around and pull into this place made me just squint my eyes and wait on my food because I understand the difficulty in owning and operating a restaurant. It has been in Muskogee for 78 years it is a small establishment and is a historic gem. Not many places like this still survive in todays world but once you try one of their chili cheese dogs it will definitely tell you why they are still in business! read more

5 stars! Have been going to Chet's since I was a kid & always have the best memories sitting at the counter (OG Chet's) with my dad ordering like 10 hotdogs just between the 2 of us and pigging out. The steamed buns, the chili and cheese; the crushed ice, the limeades. All of it- so good! Friendly service too. There's not too many small town, "hole-in-the-wall" type of secret gems left in Muskogee, but Chet's is definitely one of them. So cool getting to take my own kids there now, too. read more

Was in the area and heard about the place from family members. Surprisingly was a Super fantastic visit. The lady that helped us was part of the family run business. She answered all of my questions on the history of the place and I had a bunch of questions!!! She was very informative and also was our server. The record for chilli dogs was 24 and I got 6 down .... They were so delicious and I couldn't have asked for a better lunch on this day. the Menu was simple and prices were really pretty reasonable. The side dishes you can choose from are simple. Bags of chips. Fountain drinks are an option also. I had water because I don't drink pop. You can dress your dogs how you you want. ( Relish Cheese,Onion, Mustard) I am so impressed with how quaint the place is .... Maybe 6 stools at the counter and that is all. Made it cozy! If you are in the area and want to visit.... I suggest you make an appearance. The ice cream machine is getting fixed and I can hardly wait to visit when it's fixed or Maybe I will visit the other location across town. If you're close to Muskogee don't miss having one of the best hotdogs all around. People come from all over and order 10-20 at a time to take back to their home town. Of course, nothing can compare to sitting on one of those little stools and eating it right there with the friendly workers. They'll make you feel right at home. And, did I mention the best drinks with crushed ice! It doesn't get any better unless they added burgers...they would be awesome too! P.S. People in town told me that their hot dogs were good, but I did not realize how good they were until I came in and tried them myself. They taste amazing. They are not New York Style or Chicago style, rather they are chili cheese dogs and they taste great. Do not expect anything fancy from the restaurant and do not expect many different options in terms of food. If you just want some great tasting hot dogs, come here. I also learned that they mix their Dr. Pepper slightly differently than most other places: more syrup, less carbonation. It gives the drink a slightly sweeter taste. I grew up in the small town of Muskogee lunching on Chet's hotdogs. When I went off to college I went back occasionally, and always stopped in for 2 or 3 cheesedogs. They were always fantastic. That has been 30 plus years ago. I sometimes have a reason to pass through the town and as always, I'd have a couple of dogs. Today, was one of those occasions. It's been nearly 2 years since my last Chet's hotdog and since I was only 20 miles away, I thought, why not. Much to my disappointment, they changed something, and not for the good. The chili, which was always the cornerstone of the dog has changed. It had no flavor and seemed a bit sweet instead of the spicy. I hope the owner reads this review and takes it to heart.
