Since my previous review a LOT has changed at Chesterfield's! This was my second visit to their new location so it had been decades since my last visit and this second visit was many years after I last ate here in 2019. I have to say I still prefer their old location better which is largely more for nostalgia's sake. The service was less than I had come to expect from the old location so that could certainly use some improvement and it seemed to have gotten even worse for my second visit to the new spot. The food has declined from my past first visit to this new location sadly. The open faced prime rib sandwich served with a side of au jus was my go to staple here for many years but they no longer have that on the menu sadly. The only other entrée I ever ordered here was one of the Gulf fish specials which they still had some of those at least but not as good a choice as they used to have. For my second visit the menu was so uninspiring to me I just got a cheeseburger and it was fortunately a decently good cheeseburger. For Hattiesburg this is probably still one of the better places to eat. They have continued doing a nice tray of their dessert selections setting out on display to really try and tempt your soul with lust for their sweet treats. I really think they need to up their game again and go back to what they used to be! Overall if you're in the area this is probably a good choice for the food or their bar which will be better than any of the many nearby chains like Applebee's but not quite as good as Crescent City Grill.

Food was great, service was fast and friendly, and the place is pretty nice. There is a big menu with lots of choices. I had the hamburger steak with broccoli and mashed potatoes. It was really good. I definitely recommend stopping in here for a bite.

This place was amazing! Our server Kendall, was so awesome! It was our first time and once we told him, he recommended some items and even let us try a sample of the creole cream sauce before we ordered it just to make sure we liked it, which we loved by the way! He took such amazing care of us. The food was delish and we had leftovers. We will definitely stop by again when we come through Hattiesburg!

I gave this review some thought on how I would proceed. The restaurant is very nice and well kept for service. Our server was very friendly and our party of 7 was able to have some great conversation. It was nice a quiet in the room we were seated in. We had the boudin egg rolls, crab bread and spinach artichoke dip for appetizers. All were good and we were so hungry I didn't get any pictures. The entrees were all good but we didn't really care for the crab claws very much. Not sure if it was the way they were cooked or if they were frozen. The rest of our food was great. I had the swamp po'boy. I strange combination but it works and was tasty. The seafood potato was delicious and large. The hamburger steak was excellent. We will definitely be in for another visit and another try the next time we are in Hattiesburg.

This is a great place to watch the game, eat good food not bar food.

I don't know what took us so long to go here ? It was great: the service, the food, my husband had a hard time deciding what to get and suggested we might have to come back to try something else next time. Great value for cocktails, we were not there during happy hour. I loved the deep fried pecan pie and would have a hard time not getting the ribs again!!!! They were So good, the meat feel off the bone! I had so much I took some home for lunch the next day. I always saw the outside of the building and thought it looks like an old Olive Garden...but it's not old inside. It's cute Hattiesburg decor. The bar is large and has table and booth seating for lunch or dinner. They have an outdoor patio area too.

Food is ok. Service is ok. Atmosphere is ok. For the price and wait you would be better off trying somewhere else.

Had the roast beef poboy, perfect. So sloppy and tender. Bread, perfect. I also got a pound of royal reds. Just as good as Jordan River Steamer. No lie.

We did order I believe a good 35-40 minutes prior to closing. The girl was short on the phone but even shorter in person. I myself walk in apologizing our order was late. Instead of her being friendly saying oh no I'm sorry we close so early or something to that nature she said nothing but my total. She had it all bagged up and so I figure how hard is it to pack up the needed condiments, include silverware & napkins(after all they charge you a "cc conv fee" of $2.16 for that stuff I'm assuming. She was just so like she had more important things to do than assist me. Once being a server I rarely don't tip but she left me with such a cold customer care I followed my instincts & gave nothing. As I'm outside loading my food she comes out spraying the strongest over bearing smelling spray that I guess cleans their windows that it really stood out that she was spraying in my direction on purpose. Then to get to our camper to find no condiments at all (no ketchup, no tarter, no cocktail, NOTHING) We had no silverware, No crackers & hot sauce for our coleslaw, not even salt & pepper. Now look at these pics- after separating it out this is what we got for our $44 plus tax + conv fee. Surely this is a mistake. The shrimp taste alright, lil over cooked, the fries were half twice fried & under fried, the corn was spicy and shriveled, the whole potatoes are SPICY, we had more potatoes than anything else. Plus this famous biggest platter had no oysters! Fried shrimp, fried catfish, corn on the cob, handful of boiled shrimp, whole potatoes, French fries, and stuffed crab. Which leads me to why two kinds of potatoes on this plate? In all it was ok to eat but looking at does the quality match the price? Nope, seems like we got food trailer seafood for the prices of high rise restaurants. The girl working the counter does realize you can get tipped for to go orders? Maybe put it simply serving a table is easy- you have around an hour to get things right. A to go order you get maybe 10minutes- if you can't win em over in 10mins doing the basic maybe serving isn't your best choice. Simple things like what most of your tables ask for is what we needed. Being efficient & friendly is a must. The oyster poboy was dropped off for my father in law so not sure how it was. I'm just very disappointed in spending $68 and the total experience being so under average. I do believe yall could do a lot better. Maybe consider tellin pep you don't take to go orders like an hour before closing if this is the service & food you get. It's gona be a while before I try this place again if ever. I do not recommend.

Our server, Cameron, was kind, patient, and attentive as we waited for our friend to arrive. He was also extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and offered great suggestions based on his personal favorites. We started with the crabmeat wontons, which I was expecting to favor traditional rangoons, but these were crispy gyozo dumplings, filled with a savory and smooth blend of crab and cream cheese, and served with sweet chili sauce. They didn't last long on the table :) Even my husband, who usually doesn't like seafood, dug in! Intrigued by the subtle twist on a classic, my husband chose the fried chicken and beignets. I was allowed a bite :) and it was hard to stop there! The flavor of both components was outstanding, and the crispy texture, perfect. I wasn't quite as hungry, so I asked if I could do a classic Caesar salad and add creole shrimp. When I say this was the best salad I've ever had, I'm not exaggerating! The flavor of the dressing was so simple yet rich, the croutons were light and tasted freshly-made, and the shrimp were deliciously savory, with a blackened flavor that exceeded my expectations. All in all, a great dining experience that we will share with others traveling through the area, and will repeat if we're ever back!

I visited this restaurant while I was in Hattiesburg for a conference. We chose it because we were looking for a seafood meal, especially since we were relatively close to the coast. Unfortunately, this is more of a fast-food-style seafood restaurant than a traditional sit-down seafood restaurant. The choices are essentially fried seafood or seafood served in a boil-in-a-bag style. This is definitely not an upscale restaurant--or even what I would consider a typical sit-down restaurant. There is a menu on the wall and another menu taped in front of the cash register. The setup is basically: come in, place your order, wait for your food, and either take it to go or sit at one of the tables while they bring it to you on a tray. While we were there, everyone else who came in ordered their food to go. The employees were very nice, but it was also noticeable that they seemed accustomed to dealing with unhappy customers. While we were waiting for our food, one customer became angry and started cursing at the employees. As for the food, it was a typical boiled seafood bag. The shrimp were served with the heads on, which is a matter of personal preference. I personally don't care for head-on shrimp. More importantly, the shells were extremely difficult to peel because they were stuck tightly to the shrimp. The gumbo also needed considerably more seasoning. Overall, the food wasn't necessarily bad, but it wasn't particularly appealing either. There was one other experience that ultimately made me decide not to continue eating my food. One of the employees was eating her own meal from a bowl while taking my order. When I asked for hot sauce, she put her food down, reached for the hot sauce, handed it to me, and then immediately picked her food back up and continued eating. Seeing food being handled in that manner while she was working completely turned me off. I understand that this is a casual, fast-food-style seafood restaurant, and I don't expect fine dining. However, cleanliness and food-handling practices are important regardless of the type of restaurant. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not return.
