Wow what a dive this took. Prices went up, customer service went down…read more I went in, asking for advice about a plant my mother, who passed away, had given me. It is really special to me that the plant lives as long as it can. The older man at the counter said, "Have you tried not worrying about it? It's going to do whatever it wants." That was his ONLY *advice*. I asked him about maybe adding a rooting agent and he said that was a good idea and then *instructed* me on how to use a rooting agent... incorrectly. If a plant isn't growing it's the environment that needs to change. You can't leave it up to the plant. This is basic gardening logic. I needed advice adjusting the environment -- soil, nutrients, a grow light -- not complete apathy. This garden center has the highest prices of any in the area, but I'd pay it for people who care and know what they're doing. I'm not paying $10 for rooting agent (which I already have) and an extra surcharge of the audacity.

It's a bit on the smaller side, but it has more than you'd think and a pretty large shrub/roses area along the back. The biggest reason I like this place is because it has things I can't find other places. When all I can find anywhere else is Phlox, they've got Mountain Pinks, when I can't find Poppies anywhere at all... they've got two different sizes to choose from and plenty to go around. While every other place seems to still be trying to sell their spring annuals Slifko's has a great variety of some of my favorite summer perennials. Lupine, Delphinium, Fox Glove, Columbines, and plenty of other stuff. I like being able to buy plants like that before they're already blooming so I get the full extent of their blooming period.

Better known as Bridge's to the locals, this is a seasonal outdoor nursery which is open Spring throughout the Fall. I have numerous nurseries in my area and feel compelled to divide my business between them, since they are all family owned and they all offer a nice selection of quality grown plants, shrubs and trees, plus very friendly service. Some offer more in the way of ornamental plants, larger hanging baskets and lawn decorations. Bridge's also supports the local farmers by selling their corn and some other produce for them. We have a squirrel feeder and we try to keep it full at all times so they leave the birds food alone. At the end of the Fall season they allow hubby to come down and pick all the leftover corn from the unsold stalks. I have been slowly cleaning out my flower beds and I love to plant mums here and there for the season. This is the second generation of running this business and they have grown to provide more and more services. They now deliver truckloads of varied mulch or stone at a reasonable price. I like to buy my mums here because they are field grown, they often will come back the next year because they have good strong roots, plus I am then supporting the farmer's and Bridge's. I decorate everything all year long and if you stand still long enough, I will decorate you too, just ask hubby.
