We chose to dine at this restaurant due to its favorable Yelp ratings and its reputation for serving large cinnamon rolls. However, it is important to note that the restaurant operates until 2:00 PM. We arrived at approximately 11:30 AM, but unfortunately, they did not have any cinnamon rolls available. My boyfriend and I reside in Kansas City and had spent the weekend exploring the Ozarks. To our dismay, the cinnamon rolls were the whole reason we came. This was particularly disappointing, as we had also ordered a side of cheese curds, which were still frozen despite having been deep-fried. The majority of the food items appeared to have been prepared from canned or boxed ingredients.

Fortunately we were able to find parking and only had to wait 15 minutes or so to get a table for 7 (nephews + BIL decided swimming outside was more important than dinner, so only 4 of us actually sat inside). The place was fairly loud and busy, but worse was that it was *warm* due to it being hot outside and people going in/out of the restaurant all the time. The service was actually pretty decent despite it being a mad house. My last stop in here a couple years ago included an amazing Buffalo Chicken Pizza. I was able to get my buffalo chicken pizza again this time, but it was a bit sad compared to last time...just okay. It was definitely a bit of a let down. Anyways, we went back outside after dinner and waited for the fireworks. I waited by the outside bar in the shade, but it was still a bit too warm for my liking. The fireworks were almost half an hour late, but we're pretty solid. Overall, it was a fine evening, but I can't help but think that there might be better options for getting a meal and catching fireworks. Captain Ron's might be better outside of a super busy holiday (it wasn't nearly as busy the last time I was in despite it being a weekend evening).

The buffet was very basic like the standard free fare you get at a Hilton when it's included - I had paid upon booking for breakfast included bc I knew the resort was secluded so it was about half off if you did that and was like $24 for two people instead of the $20pp or so if you pay walking in. I'm glad it was so cheap bc it wasn't good. They did not have anyone manning the omelet station but our server, the one time we talked to her, did take our order and said they'd make it in the kitchen. When they arrived they were big and fresh and my husband's which had ham in it included a huge portion of ham so it was generous. Pastries were not that good. Overall, quality wasn't good of the food and service was terrible. Best thing was the fresh fruit and the French toast sticks. Do not recommend at all unless it's free/included.

Sadly, it was by far the most disappointing dining experience of all the times we have visited. At this most recent visit, we noticed there were not that many customers sitting inside or outside. Even though it was super hot and humid, we still opted for an outdoor table to get the full lakeside experience! Instant regret because we were all dying from dehydration and getting just water took painfully long. Our server was apologetic though so no big deal. Now onto the food. We always start with an order of cheese curds because how can you not! For my entree, I was really craving a salad. I was debating between the House salad and the Greek salad but ultimately decided on the Greek solely because the latter came with chickpeas and artichokes! Yum! We shouldn't have been surprised that the food also took forever to come out...but we were.. because again we always had good experiences.. Cheese curds came out crispy and heavenly so no complaints there! But my buddha my poor salad. The greens were overdressed and there was not a chickpea or artichoke in sight! Hello chickpea artichoke where are you?! I really didn't want to complain but it was an expensive salad so we ended up letting our server know just so she can inform the chef that some key ingredients were missing just as an FYI. Well our server later informs us that the chef didn't forget the ingredients, they just ran out but didn't bother telling anyone????? I don't know bro but that's just messed up. Especially when you still end up serving a tiny portion with missing ingredients. We paid for the check and still left a good tip because it wasn't our servers fault but what a pretty disappointing experience all around. -Sailor out
