Came in with the family around 5PM of a very busy Friday July 3rd when they were going to do a fireworks display around 9:30PM. Fortunately we were able to find parking and only had to wait 15 minutes or so to get a table for 7 (nephews + BIL decided swimming outside was more important than dinner, so only 4 of us actually sat inside). The place was fairly loud and busy, but worse was that it was *warm* due to it being hot outside and people going in/out of the restaurant all the time. The service was actually pretty decent despite it being a mad house. My last stop in here a couple years ago included an amazing Buffalo Chicken Pizza. I was able to get my buffalo chicken pizza again this time, but it was a bit sad compared to last time...just okay. It was definitely a bit of a let down. Anyways, we went back outside after dinner and waited for the fireworks. I waited by the outside bar in the shade, but it was still a bit too warm for my liking. The fireworks were almost half an hour late, but we're pretty solid. Overall, it was a fine evening, but I can't help but think that there might be better options for getting a meal and catching fireworks. Captain Ron's might be better outside of a super busy holiday (it wasn't nearly as busy the last time I was in despite it being a weekend evening). read more

Captain Ron's has been a staple of the Lake of the Ozarks area for awhile now. It features a pirate themed restaurant with a store inside. They also have a beach area which is great for families. They have a full bar but also have frozen drinks available. A great menu featuring burgers, seafood, and pizza. They have plenty of live events that happen at the bar as well. A fun atmosphere for all ages. read more

Nightmare experience. Staff members were mostly 16-23 year olds. We waited 5 minutes to be seated to later find out the host was on her phone chatting in another area. Drinks were fine. Son ordered a 27$ pizza which had hair baked into it! I ordered a 39$ steak that I DIDNT EAT. Tasted like it was dipped in lake water. I don't even think it was beef. Asked for medium rare, came well done. Price is not an issue. My issue is the poor customer service and paying for such disgusting food. We left our barely touched food on the table. Our server was a young gentleman. He even tasted my steak and said he wouldn't even eat it. Said he would take it off my bill, he never did. Younger guy and tried to make it right. I did tip him 20% as this was not his fault. Long story short I'll never be back. Save your money and go to another lakefront restaurant with food that actually consumable!!!!! read more

Get ready to wait to get a seat at this place. Nice area to hang out at outside waiting for a table. Full service bar out there. Hostess was quite off-putting. Very indifferent and just didn't seem to want to be at work. Hope any tip I leave doesn't go to her! Our waitress on the other hand was very friendly. Super nice. Drinks came out pretty fast. Apps were fast. Grouper strips were killer. Cheese curds were really good too...they came with a soy-honey type of sauce that was really good. The main food did take a little while to come out. But this place is fairly big so I'm not surprised. Our waitress kind of disappeared for a while but eventually came back to check on us. Food was good. The chimichanga was what you would expect it to be. Fried perfectly. Pork tenderloin was reported to be good by my kid, as was the firecracker chicken tenders. Went today on the way back to KC from a road trip to Springfield. Place looked cool, nice location. Got sat down pretty fast but then it took about 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. It was busy when we first arrived so didn't think too much of it. Ordered a burger and fries and my girlfriend ordered a fried shrimp bowl and we also ordered some fried grouper strips as an appetizer. We were immediately told that it would be a while since they were busy. We were fine with that at first but after about 30 minutes it was pretty cleared out and not too many people inside so we started wondering what was taking so long. We were pretty starving to begin with but then the appetizer never came and after an hour we got asked if we were doing ok. I asked how much longer before the food arrived and waitress did not know but said she'd check. After about 15 minutes of watching her wander around inside (we sat outside) she never came back but immediately started waiting on a table of about ten people. At that point we figured she had new priorities and would give the table with the big tip service before us who had waited for over an hour. She never returned. I have no idea when the food came out because we left at that point and went down the street to Paradise Restaurant where we had amazing service and got our burgers and appetizer within ten minutes of ordering. I won't return to Captain Ron's. Total shitshow. They do not care one bit about their customers. Over an hour wait for no food to show up is ridiculous. No apology, no nothing. Epic failure. They don't read or comment on these reviews either so that should tell you the level of their care factor. read more

Disappointed... Again. We've been coming to Captain Ron's for 7 years, hoping each time it would finally live up to the hype -- especially after seeing recent posts claiming the place had "significantly improved." Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience. We visited on 4th of July weekend -- prime time -- and the place was nearly empty. That should've been a red flag. We waited over 90 minutes and still had no food. To make matters worse, the pizza oven was down, so no pizza, one of the main things we came for. No updates, no apologies, just frustration. After years of giving this place chance after chance, we're done. Captain Ron's has been consistently disappointing, and sadly, this visit was the final straw. We will not be back. read more

We went to Captain Ron's last on a Saturday night and it was popping. We had to wait an hour for a table however that's to be expected in the weekend. We were seated about an hour after checking in. I got the Davie Jones nachos. They were quite good and the crab/shrimp on them tasted fresh. We had to wait quite a long time for our food however our server was super friendly. I got a margarita to drink and it was average, I would come back here. They have a large menu and I would like to try some of the sandwiches. read more

We have not been here for years, now we remember why. The only helpful and pleasant employee was the dock girl that helped us dock our boat. The host acted as if we were interrupting his online game. Went here on Memorial Day weekend 2025 to get a replacement coozie, beach towel, and have a few apps. Gift store was closed entirely and was told by staff that manager was "too busy" to open the shop. Absolutely ridiculous - esp on a holiday weekend?! The manager walked right by and didn't even acknowledge what was being asked. Not only dampening plans but missing out on so much revenue.. how could I ever recommend! This place is all about the outdoor bar scene and the beach. The bar has many fun drinks and great frozen options but you will be paying a hefty price for those drinks. However the restaurant is just okay, the food was decent but nothing all that special. I we ordered some pretzel sticks and cheese, garlic knots, and some crab Rangoon. All of these appetizers were good but again nothing special. I got the chipotle shrimp burrito which was okay, filled with slightly crunchy rice and a little low on the shrimp. Came here for dinner one night pretty late - about 15 minutes before kitchen close. We had gotten in late to the lake and felt bad but so happy they were accommodating. We were immediately seated and the waitress was so nice! She got us menus so quick and had our orders in within 5 minutes. It was very impressive. Drinks were good, food was amazing considering we didn't have high expectations with it being a bar. But we were so happy. Great appetizers, cheese curds, pickles, and the salad was also awesome. Prices were fair for the area. Service was top notch. My only complaint was it was TOO loud. We like live music, but they had everyone packed into a tiny little area and we literally couldn't even talk to anyone other than the person directly next to us. If I could give zero stars I would. We came from out of state. Party of 4.. my partner, me and our son and his girlfriend. We ordered two appetizers. The cheese curds and beef tips. The beef tips were chewy and gross, the cheese curds were ok but not 17 dollar ok. I ordered the steak sandwich medium well with fries, my partner had ordered shrimp tacos and rice and beans, the kids ordered bacon jam burger and chicken and Swiss... my son had to wait over ten minutes to get our waitress attention for a refill and we must've inconvenienced her cause she just brought him a pitcher and sat it on the table. She never cleared the appetizers baskets till end of meal as we were leaving. We couldn't order dinner till appetizers were gone. She knew we were from out of state and she didn't tell us nothing about this place, no specials what is good nothing. We inconvenienced her. It wasn't that busy there was a couple other tables filled and she only had one of the tables she was just more focused on talking to staff. When my steak sandwich was seared on each side, barely cooked at all medium rare is putting it nicely ... my partners shrimp was mush ... the kids didn't complain but one of the sandwiches was only eaten with two bites everything was left behind. When we paid for our ticket, we were forced to pay a 25 dollar gratuity ... no matter what. I said I was refusing I needed to speak to a manager. The manager said the same I had to pay it, I explained the problems with the food, and lack of service and she wasn't solution based and basically said to bad it needs paid. We will never come back and we will tell everyone on every platform I know about our experience and the lack of empathy and crappy service and food we were forced to deal with ! Visited Captain Ron's as a place to hangout and drink and enjoy the beach. We ended up being there during the midwestern beach wrestling nationals tournament. Made parking very difficult but it was very fun to watch while we waited for a table! We also relaxed at the beach bar and the bartenders were very nice and attentive despite them being busy. Ended up mainly snacking on their appetizers which were good. The garlic knots, pretzel sticks, and crab ragoons paired nicely with all of our drinks so we were very happy. Our waitress was also very sweet and checked in on us often. It was definitely packed and hard to get to the beach with all the people but we still had a fun time just hanging out. read more

Shorts and tops, swimwear with cover-ups, etc. However, once we were seated, we realized that men at two of the dining tables near us wore no shirts at all. It wasn't pretty. Disgusting, in fact. We went to Captain Ron's for a late lunch on a hot day. This is definitely a place to go if you're visiting the Lake of the Ozarks area. They have a large outside deck and a great inside seating area - complete with large pirate with whom you can take a photo. We had burgers and fries, which were extremely good and not overpriced. We had Mother's brand beer, a microbrew out of Springfield. The waiter was very friendly and we sat for a long time enjoying the view. The view is great - it's not only on the lake, you can boat right up to their marina to park. Right next to the deck is a great beach with lots of seating. There are also volleyball courts, things for the kids to play on, and an outdoor bar. Of course, there is a huge pirate ship floating on the lake. The staff, and scenery are the only reason I'm giving this place even 3 star's! Because this is the only reason to come here! Awesome atmosphere, with a beach for families to swim, great outside patio with lake view. Friendly staff with themed decor. Now for the food; we got the "specialty pizza." A seafood pizza with lobster, shrimp, and a white sauce. If this is the "specialty" I'd hate to try anything else! When explaining it the best terms would be "canned, and doughy." Crust was like a flavorless undercooked biscuit. Which was really bad because it was thin crust; the toppings were all from a can, absolutely nothing fresh on the pizza. I have not been to Captain Ron's in years, despite being a year-round local, because, well, it's just not very good. But I was craving a chicken Caesar salad and didn't want to cook, so I ordered one from them to go. It was good, mostly, but it was not what was advertised, thus the low rating. I paid $20 for a salad, here are the pros and cons: Pro: the lettuce was fresh and crisp. Pro: the dressing was tasty. Pro: the portion was generous. Con: the chicken was clearly not freshly grilled. It had no grill marks, no grill flavor, and had obviously been prepared hours before and chilled. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what was advertised either. Con: there were supposed to be croutons, I had no croutons. Con: there was supposed to be fire roasted red bell peppers, what they served was pickled chopped pimentos, one of which had a slight blackened edge, for authenticity I suppose, but it was clearly canned or jarred, in no way fresh or even really fire roasted. Con: Parmesan, there was supposed to be Parmesan. I had no Parmesan. Not even the cheap grated stuff in a jar, and certainly not the fresh slivered hard Parmesan that any good chef would be embarrassed not to include. Con: service was slow even though I called my order in half an hour beforehand and there were not many people at the bar. I was served after a party who came in after me. While looking at my meal on the counter. I had to ask for a bag. I will not be back anytime soon. read more

My favorite restaurant on the lake!! Such a fun atmosphere inside and out. I have been going for years and have always experienced great service and even better food. Their frozen drinks are soooo yummy! The outdoor bar and beach chairs located right on the sandy beach actually makes you hope there's a wait for your table. Seems like the establishment is run by the employees, the bartenders were ignoring customers and drinking on the job while playing music that was completely inappropriate for all of the children that were present.
