Tried Chesa Bianca tucked along one of the quieter side streets near Yakal in Makati, and it honestly feels like discovering an old Swiss mountain tavern hidden in the city.
The place has a very authentic Swiss alpine vibe, warm wooden interiors, cozy lighting, and charming vintage decor everywhere. They decorated the walls with old skis, cow bells, wash boards, spinning wheels, and antique farming tools that make the whole place feel nostalgic and transportive, like a small family tavern somewhere in Switzerland.
We ordered the French onion soup, Hungarian sausage with potato salad, and their traditional cheese fondue. The fondue was definitely the highlight, rich, creamy, and very strong on the Emmental cheese flavor in a good way. Very authentic tasting and perfect for sharing. The Hungarian sausage and potato salad were also hearty and satisfying.
The only dish that needs improvement was the French onion soup. The broth was a bit watery and it missed that thick cheesy topping you usually expect from a good French onion soup.
Service was warm and attentive, and they even served complimentary tuna pâté pica-pica while waiting, which was a nice touch.
If you miss the old Swiss Inn vibe, especially with Swiss Inn closing, Chesa Bianca is such a great little rediscovery in Makati.
Overall, 4/5. Come for the authentic Swiss atmosphere, comforting fondue, and cozy tavern feel. Just hoping they improve the French onion soup because it could easily elevate the whole experience further. read more
