We had the Fall prix fixe menu in an Igloo, ate lunch at the on-site restaurant, and had Happy Hour drinks at the on-site bar and also stayed at the hotel. Note for Igloo reservers and prix fixe menu people: I was told you CAN order things off the prix fixe menu while in the igloos, but it's an upcharge. I'm not sure why; they're making those same things inside of the restaurant and bar 50 steps away, but if you're a picky eater who is on the fence about a pre-made menu, you can make it work if you want. I wanna say the place is a maze, but it really isn't. But it IS two very-large circles. Walking and stairs are a given for this place, and it can be easy to feel "lost" getting to your room. (Getting to our room, for example, required a set of stairs and 4 right turns then a left) It was great for getting steps in, but if "getting steps is" isn't necessarily comfortable for you, make sure you let them know that at check-in. I would not recommend this place for someone who has difficulty walking or uses a wheelchair. It's "technically" accessible in most spots, but it definitely isn't friendly to it. PROS: -Room was surprisingly spacious with tons of area to move around. Everything was clean with a gigantic bathroom that you could easily host a 5 person meeting in. If, y'know, you wanted to do that. -The furniture in the room was all very sturdy. You know how some hotel room furniture just looks cheap? Not here. Everything looks like that hand-me-down furniture from your grandparents that will outlive you. It was all clean too. -In-room bathtub is gigantic and easily fits 2 people and would fit four people if you, uh, had good friends. -All drinks at the bar can be poured in plastic to go outside with you. The bartender was happy to pour us a double with straws, and we had a great time walking the beautifully-lit Fall lights as the sun was going down. By far the highlight of the trip. -All the staff was really nice. Quite a few of them were brand new (I'm not sure if they have high turnover here or if it's seasonal hiring) which made for some interesting - but not terrible - experiences. I still want to know if there's a story to the Teddy Bear that's sitting up in the ceiling, though, and none of the staff were able to give me an answer. CONS: -Igloo experience was okay. It wasn't worth the cost. We got a lot more of our enjoyment from walking the property, having drinks while curled up on rocking chairs, and seeing everything they had to offer. The igloo was surprisingly cold (we asked for additional heat, and the server said she'd bring someone out, but no one ever showed), and my fingers were getting too cold to easily hold the silverware. The food was okay (with very generous portions. VERY generous), and the service was regular, but between the temperature and the "okay" food, it didn't quite feel worth the price. That being said, we'd probably do it again in 5 or 10 years simply for the ambience. It WAS cute. Just not worth the cost to make it an annual tradition. -wtf is with the bedframes they chose? The bedframe corners extend much further out than the bed, and we both ended up with multiple bruises from whacking our shins on the corners of the bedframe. -It's definitely a hotel built into an old building, and they aren't charging a ton per night. It is not immaculate. Things that matter (your bathroom, your bed, the sheets, tables, etc.) all seem clean and modern. Things that could fall into disrepair without affecting hygiene aren't necessarily spotless. Shingles on some of the buildings are falling off. The gazebo hasn't been repainted in awhile and its wooden age shows. Some light fixtures are hanging off their mounting points and most of the landscaping is starting to show that it hasn't been updated in a bit. Dust is pretty much on every surface that isn't easily-reached by standing (which is easier to notice when you can look down on the first floor from the second in most of the hotel). -Hot tub was down when we looked. I have stayed at the Cherry Valley Hotel numerous times. My daughter had two birthday parties here and I come to the Neat Bourbon event they've held for the last two years. I honestly don't think there's a hotel out there where you can receive a better value for the price of a guest room here. The entire hotel is designed to resemble a rustic lodge and upon walking up to check in (in the colder months at least) there's a large, inviting fireplace lit with plenty of seating to welcome you in. The rooms are large and clean and maintain the hotels rustic design. The rooms have large couches and a large flat screen that swivels so you can enjoy it from the seat of your choosing. The soaking tubs are my favorite part and are a great place to unwind after your daily activities. I saw a lot of reviews complaining that the jacuzzi in the pool area is always broken but I'd rather have my own private soaking tub anyways. There are multiple restaurants in the facility, however, I'd recommend dining elsewhere. My husband and I dined in an igloo at the Craftsman that had a prix fixe menu and for a 170 dollar dinner it did not deliver in taste or quality. Drinks, however, were well made and delicious. All in all I believe it's a great place to stay and as someone who stays at hotels often, very cheap for the amenities you receive. read more

At first glance, this looks like a beautiful property to enjoy. But then you see many things that have not been maintained well. Lampposts that look like they've been hit and are about to fall over (corner heading towards B entrance for example.) All the hotel hallway entry door's (A through G) locks don't work. They're either taped so they don't lock you out, or are propped open with a rock so you'll be able to get in. So, the expected security of the hallways actually doesn't exist. The staff are friendly, though reluctant to fix a problem when I presented one. The first room they gave me (D 242 in the Jade Owl upper level) the air conditioning didn't work, the tub was stained or not cleaned, and I asked to be moved a couple times because maintenance wasn't coming to fix the a/c like they said they were. The front desk staff said the a/c problem was a hotel-wide problem but didn't move me. Meanwhile it's a freaking heatwave outside and we were literally dripping sweat. No way I'm staying/ paying for this room like this. Finally, my brother-in-law (staying in the Red Hare lower level section) stepped in and said his a/c & another relative's room's a/c (in Plum Fox section) were working great so the problem wasn't hotel-wide. Most likely just the Jade Owl and Main Lobby/ restaurant areas. They listened to him & they gave me a new room (E 266 in the Red Hare upper level section.) The air conditioning works beautifully in my new room. The bathtub is clean as well. The two king-size beds are very comfortable! I love having the small bedside tables on each side of the beds. The hotel is long, so you'll find you're getting your steps in just walking back and forth to the lobby or restaurant! Wear comfortable walking shoes! They literally had three events happening when we arrived (wedding, hs reunion, & Bourbon tasting) so parking was at a premium. read more

We really enjoyed our stay here. Went to a concert in town and decided to stay over to avoid driving home late. Made reservations the same day as our stay. I did not realize it was more a resort than a standard hotel, and it was not busy at all- many of the negative reviews seem to be for events, or during their busy season, so maybe we just avoided those issues. But we had a great time, start to finish (even with a couple of little problems.) Check-in was easy. There's a nice place to drop off someone out front, and a gorgeous lobby. Then we drove around to our room in the back, with an entry close by and which was close to the pool. The room was plenty for three of us- two kings and a big foldout couch. Not much of a view, but some rooms are by the courtyard and pond. We did have a little patio with table and chairs. Some odd art- deer are a theme. The one by my bed was an amusing and surreal deer in a suit. Cool, but creepy when you get up to pee at 4am, and a little scary for Baby K; and imagine stumbling in after a Dead show and seeing that... The beds were comfy, though the pillow tops were just too soft for me. Bathroom is split into double sink area and shower/toilet. Big enough, and the sinks are great, with a huge mirror, but a curtain or other screen would be nice so that that can be a dressing area. There's a clothesline in the shower, handy for use after the pool. TV in an odd location on the side, best suited for seeing from the couch, but we didn't use it. Lots of plugs but no USB ones that I saw. Fridge, no microwave; this time we didn't need it but they sure are nice. Room was clean. Halls were quiet, but again, the place wasn't busy and we were off in a corner. Went to the pool in the morning and it was quiet, and a nice location with bright light. Had a room key that didn't work and staff were super helpful; maintenance met us at the room at one point, and everyone at the front desk, restaurant, maintenance, etc., were friendly and professional. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant and breakfast as well. I'll review that separately, but again, staff were great. The food was very good on both visits. The breakfast was free with vouchers, and was a step above the usual hotel breakfast. Same kind of items, but better quality, plus some extras, and drink service was at the table. Fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, pastries, oatmeal, breakfast tacos, and more, each one pretty good. Price was reasonable; in fact, nowadays, pretty average price point but with better amenities, service, etc., than average. We'd definitely come back. read more

This front desk person again made reservations and said someone would call. 2 days later I called restaurant directly. No answer and VM box full. I tried several times next few days. On Monday b4 Moms Day I called front desk--no reservation for me and fully booked. Front desk staff were friendly and seemed caring. General manager wouldn't return my calls. We have been to Cherry Valley Lodge several times. My dad had his company Christmas party in the ballroom years ago. And my husband and I have eaten dinner in The Craftsman restaurant. In 2022 we did not have plans for Thanksgiving so I made reservations for their Thanksgiving Dinner. It was fabulous! Sit down dinner with all the fixins. They had an unbelievable dessert table, chocolate table with a fountain and all kinds of sweet treats. Everything tasted great and the atmosphere was like walk into a storybook Christmas tale! Well, fast forward to 2025. Same situation. No plans for Thanksgiving. So we go to Cherry Valley. Unfortunately it wasn't the same experience. It was downright horrible. I didn't realize when I bought the tickets that it was a buffet. But, that's ok. I've been to some fabulous buffets. This one wasn't. All the tables that held the food were in shambles. Most of the food in the salad, dessert and potato tables were gone. The large table with the main sides were fine but found out when we sat down the food was cold. (That has to be a health code violation). We were very very disappointed. Especially for the price we paid. $65 per person! Then they tacked on a $19.99 adult service fee! Seriously???? And the whole place lacked that holiday vibe. Cherry Valley, I would have had a better experience at Golden Corral. And it would have been cheaper. read more

DO NOT USE THIS SPACE FOR AN EVENT IF YOU VALUE HONESTY! Classic bait and switch tactics used by them. We spent weeks trying to get something set up here and then when it comes time to move forward, they completely switch things up and tell you that it's necessary to commit to a bunch of things that were never discussed previously. Especially bad if you're local to the area. Why should I be forced to spend an extra $6,000+ dollars to book 40 rooms for a wedding when everyone who's coming lives less than an hour away and I know for a fact that 75+% of the guests will not be staying overnight. They also false advertise on their website. The lowest minimum charge of the website for a wedding would be approximately $4,500, but then they tell you that it's required to commit to at least $15,000 in food and beverages. Then out of nowhere they tell you about the room commitment AND tell you it's also an additional $2,000 charge just for the space and services that the $4,500 wedding package said was included. Total liars and I would recommend NEVER using this venue. read more

If I could give the hotel a negative rating I would. During my stay I found TWO live cockroaches in the room, there hotel room was not cleaned properly with hair on the comforter, dust bunnies on the carpet, cob webs on the ceiling light, and a pants sticker on the back of the bathroom door that would have been noticed if housekeeping would have closed the door to sweep. I reported the incidents when I checked out (as I was in town taking care of my sick mother and not just staying at the hotel to enjoy it) I was told I would be compensated by refunding one of the days but I would hear from a manager. Hours went by and no word from a manager. I called and spoke to a supervisor who told me because I didn't report the problem during my stay (which I did, I reported them before I checked out) there was nothing they could do. I work in customer service and am appalled I was basically told I was lying about the issues and there was nothing they could do to compensate my stay. First, let me say that I have loved this hotel since our first stay during the pandemic. So, it is heartbreaking that there are now issues with maintenance, mattresses, and cleanliness. As of July, 2025: Rooms: Moldy, musty smell in our room. Had to finally change to a different room due to health concerns. Substances and stains on carpets. Sagging, broken down mattresses. Stains or dirt on wallpaper. Building: Peeling paint. Actual holes in structure beams under balconies. Cracks at the bottom of the balcony railing that had been poorly patched and seemed unsound. Spider webs/cobwebs under balcony/patio ceilings. The ice machines had mold behind the ice spout and some type of disgusting-looking substance in the overflow tray. Courtyard: The gardens are not maintained or trimmed. There are some weeds as tall as the overgrown bushes and plants. Missing shingles on gazebo. Many courtyard lantern lights are tilted and need straightening so that they are sitting up straight again. Pool: Hot tub is now totally empty after being out of commission for a couple of our visits. read more

In short the Cherry Valley Hotel has dirty rooms, staff that outright lies to you, and a hot tub that never works. I booked a two night stay at the Cherry Valley Hotel to attend an event at a nearby university. I really wanted a hotel with a hot tub to be able to relax after the event, so I called the hotel to make my reservation directly. An employee named Kayla spoke to me and I specifically asked her if the hot tub was open and functional. She gave me a very strange reply that "the hot tub is working now, but I can't make any promises that it will be working for your stay." I thought that odd, so it stuck in my mind. When I arrived the same Kayla checked me in. To my surprise the hot tub was mostly drained and had a closed sign next to it. That's how it was for the entire visit. The front desk staff acted like it was open, and kept up the charade that the hot tub was just undergoing a short maintenance. It wasn't. The hot tub has been out of service for ages. I don't like being lied to. I chose this hotel because of the hot tub, and would have been happy paying more to have access to it. By lying to guests the staff is setting themselves up for failure. If you're still not convinced to avoid Cherry Valley Hotel, here's more. The rooms are dirty. The attached videos show that housekeeping never bothered to get rid of cobwebs above the bed, or even bothered to wipe the chairs between guests. Those cobwebs must have been ignored for months, so how clean is the room that I was sleeping in? The hotel was renovated about 5 years ago at a cost of $20m. It was a sloppy job. The door to my room was so badly fitting that I thought it was broken. The bathroom vent fan sounds louder than an aircraft engine. The walls are so thin that people talking in the hall woke me up throughout the night because I thought they were in my room. The floor in the bathroom doesn't even extend to the wall, instead having a crevasse where the floor should meet the wall. My room was on the first floor on the courtyard and there was a large sliding glass door that wouldn't close and didn't lock properly. The sliding door wasn't locked when I arrived in my room, because no one at the hotel actually cares about guest safety. Kayla even told me that she wouldn't stay on the first floor if she were booking a room. If the employees feel that way then it must be truly terrible. To top it all off no one came to exchange fresh towels or refresh the complimentary coffee in the room. I arrived back from the event at the university to find that nothing was serviced in the room. I went to the front desk and the receptionist told me that housekeeping does not service rooms after the first night, and that fact was discussed and presented at check in. That was another lie because neither me or my partner heard a word about that during check in. I've been to some good hotels and some bad hotels, but I've never been to a place where the staff have repeated such easily disprovable lies. The Cherry Valley Hotel should be avoided. read more

Cherry Valley Hotel Christmas Eve sucked! Reservation person on phone for some time, couldnt find reservation! Food was very exspensive and sucked! Shrimp Cocktail was good and the melted ice cream. One bar tender for entire room also acting as waiter, clearly overworked! He was great though and working so hard. Hard to get a drink. Food was very overpriced, prime rib was horrid, bake potato hard as a rock, I will not eat here again! Room had no hot water, and hot tub not working once again the entire week. Its a neat hotel with the conference center attached. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Facility was clean and well-kept inside. The rooms are showing some fatigue and could use some updates. The decor is, well, a bit disturbing. The deer head in a suit was a little troubling for several in our party, but not a huge deal. Food was good and catering was good as well for the event. The lodge feeling in the main lobby area is quite cozy and warm. Its a nice place, but it appears its going to be a high maintenance facility. read more

I'm definitely updating last year's review! I could not believe how much this place has gone downhill. It's a shame too because it was a beautiful hotel with great food and friendly service, NOT NO LONGER! We came here for an overnight stay for a birthday and to eat in the winter igloo. First off the woman at the front desk was rude I brushed it off but when I went up again due to all the ice machines being out of service she said well you will just have to walk up here and get it from us! Wow like every ice machine is down. Then the room was filthy I could not believe they left this room that dirty. Our igloo dinner reservation for 8 pm turned into us getting sat at 10:30 pm and eating at 11:15 at night. There was another couple who was there for their anniversary and said they had been waiting three hours to be seated, finally, they walked out. I asked the woman at the front desk why they don't tell people when making their reservations that the hot tub was down and ice machines are broken, her reply was we don't advertise for that so...sorry! Well, it's sure there and in your pictures online. I was very upset with this whole experience this time and will no longer refer anyone anymore here or try to plan a nice stay or dinner here. They booked their reservation this past weekend only to arrive and find out there was no reservation for them they had to stand and wait while their Igloo was assembled then they did not get the butler dinner that they were supposed to have since there was no reservation for them , even though it had been double checked, the food was horrible they said they'd never had a steak that tasted like water their waitress ended up being a banquet server girl instead of a butler waiting on there every need. Just finished a stay from the 12th to today, the 15th. I am honestly blown away at how far this place has fallen. The pool and hot tub were both closed the entire time I was here, the walls are covered in scratches, they don't even offer a complimentary breakfast. Hidden gem, Wonderful hotel! I had a dog and they gave me a little bag with a bowl and treats for my fur baby (the ONLY hotel that has done this ). Has a restaurant as well. Staff was very nice, Very clean, wonderful X-Large soaker garden tub. They even brought extra towels to my room. Had a outside patio off our room. Only things it didn't have is a microwave in the room and no washer/dryer on site (which is very needed). Overall: I would stay again. read more

They can look really nice online & then be really gross when you get there. This place really exceeded all of my expectations. First off, the lobby is SO beautiful. I was very taken back by how nicely decorated it was & how warm & cozy it felt. Joey checked me in & was so welcoming. The room made me very happy! Very clean, & cozy! Well decorated! Cute little outside patio, huge bath tub, lots of fluffy bright white towels! Everything was pretty perfect. When we laid down, the bed felt like a dream!! It's actually probably the comfiest bed I've ever laid in. You sink in in the best way possible. It's actually on my to do list to call & ask what type of mattress it is so that I can buy one. Not even joking. It was dark out & late when we checked in so we went right to bed but the next day when we went out to explore we were so surprised at how beautiful the garden & courtyard area were. There's a little pond with a gazebo & lots of trees & flowers. It was so lovely! Some of my family came to meet us for some food & drinks outside on the patio at the hotels restaurant that night. The drinks & food were great but unfortunately the service really missed the mark. It was very obvious that the server wasn't interested in our group. I'm not sure if he was having an off night or what but it kindof put a damper on our moods.. We ended the night with some wine slushies & beers at the Homestead Beer Co which was also lovely! Not only is the staff friendly they are dog lovers They welcome us with a gift bag for our golden retriever, the rooms were very nice & spacious with a patio area & sliding doors to the lawn . The bed was super comfy with Down Pillows . Big bonus it did not feel or look like the typical "dog friendly " room nor did it smell like a dog had been there. Then the Botanical are was just lovely! This is a hotel and outdated convention center between Norwalk and Granville very close to Dennison University. I stayed here for three days. On the first morning, I noticed worn men's socks between the bed and lamp table. Oh my gosh, did I sleep in a dirty bed? If the bedding had been changed, theu surely would had seen would the socks. The top of the dresser also had melted cheese and egg on it. Old electrical sockets, no phone charging ports. I waited patiently seated at the bar to order food and drink, only for this grandmother to be ignored while others who walked up to the bar after me, got served. I left without being waited on. I have always been a generous tipper, but not this time. There is not enough parking spaces, many vehicles having to park on grass. Oh, yes, my room was the furthest one from the lobby, but next to the ice machine. Finally a plus! Darn, the ice machine was out of order. The hallways are strange in that the ground level has stairs which you walk up with luggage only to walk down to the same level, probably over some maintenance/housekeeping route. I have never stayed at this hotel and I never will again. There are plenty of modern franchise hotels in the area to choose from. read more

Have been staying here regularly for the last four years, and sadly, have to agree with the reviewers that it's going downhill. The front door staff is great, as always, but it seems to be showing its age. And, more importantly - the only food is the restaurant, which has extremely limited hours. The only other restaurants are several miles away, and they closed the Starbucks that used to be in the lobby, where you could at least get grab n go sandwiches or snacks. Now, there's nowhere to do that, so if you get hungry or just want some coffee or a snack when the restaurants aren't open (which is most of the time) you're completely out of luck. The rooms are fine, but could use a thorough cleaning, and there are surprising few charging ports for USB and computers. The ice machines don't work, and the pool is seemingly always closed. When the restaurant is open, it's pretty expensive for not very good food. Hoping they get their act together again, but not counting on it, and won't be staying there again until they do. It's just too expensive for what you get. read more

First let me start by saying they have king beds in all rooms which are very comfortable. It's clean and rooms are updated each with balcony & chairs. Hallways could use new carpet & there was no ice in any ice machine I found but that might be because of COVID. I saw people take their cooler to the front desk & get them filled. The staff is very nice & you can tell they are trying their hardest but it's obvious they are understaffed especially housekeeping & groundskeeping. There's no breakfast but Keurig in room & Starbucks in lobby. I saw in magazine in room that they just underwent multi million dollar renovation. You can tell it used to be grand but it's still good value for money. read more

My husband and I celebrated our Anniversary last night enjoying dinner in one of the igloos. This was an amazing experience! We had everything we needed, blankets, heater, music and delicious food and drinks. I can't wait to go back for another visit. read more

Just got back from a visit here, first impression is this place is large and beautiful in the common areas. This feels like a ski lodge or something. They have a nice restaurant and a bar which were both fairly vacant when i saw. The rooms were newly renovated with everything new from carpet to furniture and fixtures alike...its very nice. The front desk staff was pleasant and the check in process was quick enough. There was a huge tv in the room with a nice sitting area with a couch, and credenza type cabinet sort of separating the area with a little two person table. The room had a king bed the sliding door went to the courtyard pond area, it was all very lovely. The only reason I did not mash out a 5 star review was: * The cable TV DID have a lot of channels but was not HD, on a large modern TV, the low quality was really visible and no premium like Cinemax or HBO. * The prices in the restaurant and bar areas were too high and no happy hour or other specials. $10 for a basic cocktail is a little ridiculous in my opinion, and around the same price i have paid for a cocktail at the Hilton in Time Square in Manhattan. * I thought the walleye fish and chips was tasty but it was $20 for a single large piece of breaded fish (roughly the equivalent to 2 normal pieces) was again a little high for what you get. Those would be my only two+ complaints of my entire week long visit, I will happily return here, and I would definitely recommend to anyone! This is the newly renovated Cherry Valley Lodge We had our organization Christmas party here last Friday. Nice banquet room. Tables were set up nice. The staff was nice. We had a small bar set up in our room and the bartender was nice. We had a two meat buffet with rosemary potatoes, carrots, salad and pie. The pie wins. All of the food was cold. The beef was pretty tough and cold. The pork was overdone also...and cold. The carrots were cooked, but cold...and I like carrots. The salad was just salad. We had a beer and rum and coke at the bar before going to the banquet room. $14.00. The beer was nice and cold. The rum and coke was good. We should have stuck to the bar. :) We may go back some time and order in the restaurant to give it a fair shake. Buffet food is hard to judge a place on, but if it's bad, more people are unsatisfied. read more

Rooms are clean and cold and the bedding was exactly what I needed after having to sleep on the floor during the rolling blackout in Easton they helped me greatly and wish I could get my company to move us all there it's a vintage resort but has all the amenities read more

Had a good time at the lodge. They could improve on a few things. Put an alarm clock in the room and some chairs. And small table instead of a couch. Also, they need more lighting outside. My wife parked the car and really felt insecure walking into our room. Really not safe. Also ate at CK restaurant. Food was good but pricey. Had the pork chop and my wife short rib sauce on pasta. She also had tomato bisque soup which was great. Also had their bread pudding for desert, excellent. read more

I would have enjoyed giving this facility 5 stars as they are just newly renovated and hoping to bring back business. But, there were just a few things that kept them out of the 5 star category. Our room was fresh, clean, and well appointed. However, the TV was hanging in a place where it could not be viewed from anywhere except the bathroom. We could never come to terms with the thermostat but, at least it didn't blow air on the bed. The bathroom was large but no separation from toilet and dressing area or sink. We stayed for two nights and the maid forgot to clean our room. The front desk was kind enough to supply us wIth fresh towels, etc. This is a large facility with several separate meeting areas, plenty of public sitting sections, a nice pool and exercise room, bar area and restaurant. Very attractively designed around a large, outside water feature. We will return and hope that the small inconveniences are remedied. read more

JUST A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We had been so excited to experience the "new" Cherry Valley Hotel after having hearing so much hype about the multi-million dollar makeover and demolition of the water park that had, literally, destroyed it prior. We decided to not cook this year with our traditional family gathering and enjoy, what sounded like from their marketing, a wonderful and amazing Thanksgiving Buffet. We had 3:00 reservations and arrived early. The line to "check-in" was long down the hallway but didn't appear like it would take too much time. Boy, were we flat out wrong! After waiting in a relatively short line for more than an hour, we started contemplating whether we really wanted to stay anymore and continue to wait. We saw two different friends in the dining area that had been seated about 30-40 minutes ahead of us. So, we decided to check with them and see if the wait would really be worth it for the quality of the food we were going to be paying for. The answer was a resounding "no" - the food was mediocre at best. We were told that it was really great if you enjoyed "people watching" - and that they had personally watched a number of people in the buffet line either cough over the food or sneeze into it while they were sitting there (they were very close to the buffet line). There were not any of the protective, clear barriers over ANY of the food in the line - just warmers that were all open. The "seafood bar" was out in the hallway - the same hallway that the line to get in went by. On numerous occasions, we watched people in the line grab food directly with their hands and, for items in the buffet like cocktail shrimp, they used a pair of tongs that they used their hands to grab the shrimp, then proceeded to set the tong handle right on top of the shrimp with the same handle they had grasped. Several complained that the shrimp were still frozen! Completely disgusting to say the least. We kept asking the woman at the check-in how much longer it would be. It had already been well over an hour waiting in line. Nobody was leaving any of the dining areas. She could tell us absolutely nothing worthwhile. When we were closer to the check-in podium where we could hear other patrons coming to talk to this woman, there were at least 4-5 guests who had already finished eating who came out to ask when someone was going to get back to their table so they could pay and leave. Several said that they hadn't seen their waiter or waitress for more than 45 minutes. We run a local business and are very particular about the restaurants in the area that we recommend to people visiting our amazing community so that they have a great experience. At this juncture, we would not even remotely consider sending anyone to the new Cherry Valley Hotel to dine. So incredibly disappointing and sad to say the least. If you want nice, fine dining, please continue to go to The Granville Inn or other options in the area. We were so hoping for an atmosphere and overall quality that so many of us experienced with the original Cherry Valley Lodge. Besides the poor experience when it came to this supposedly "special" Thanksgiving dinner, the overall decor was SO disappointing. How do you take a wonderful footprint that should certainly reflect a lodge-like atmosphere and appearance - and then fill it with modern furnishings and decor throughout? I reserved and Igloo dining experience for my birthday. 2 days before my reservation I had stomach issues. If you don't cancel 48hrs beforehand you are charged 30 dollars per person. I called and they asked me to leave a voice-mail and cancel. I did this. The next day I got an email confirming my reservation. I called and was told your reservation is still here. I said ok I'm feeling better let's go ahead and keep the reservation. The day of my reservation I didn't check my email until I was on my way but they canceled my reservation an hour before I was suppose to be there. 6 people were already on the way to the restaurant. I called and was told the kitchen manager would call me back. I advised I would be at the restaurant in 5min. Was then put on hold and someone named Leslie asked what she could do for me. I was literally walking in for my party. I get to the front station and the staff did not care what so ever. They said they would give me a table and the menu for the igloo experience but I'm not paying 65 dollars a person for food that did not include the experience. They had given my reserved Igloo to another party and had no interest what so ever in trying to fix it. All I was told was there was a miscommunication. Never once did a single staff member apologize or anything. Do not go to any of this resorts restaurants or waste your money on this company. read more

Everything at this time, middle of August 2020, is secondary to following health and social distancing rules for business. This hotel is holding mass gatherings, including weddings, and not ensuring the safely of its guest by requiring mask wearing. There is no security enforcing mask wearing. The hotel should be advising guests prior to confirmation that the hotel is hosting mass gatherings and does not require its guests to wear masks. Clearly there is a huge risk in staying here, I would strongly suggest you stay away unless you are immune to the Coronavirus read more
