We drove down from the Bay Area to visit my family in Bakersfield for our second annual pumpkin patch with the cousins visit. I wrote a review for the place we visited last year, and you can find that review on my profile. My sister found Cherry Acres on Instagram, and from what I understand, this is their first year. The prices for admission were inexpensive ($2 for visitors ages six and up if I recall correctly). You can also pay $8 for pony rides. Admission included access to a slide and a bounce house. We had a three year old and two one year olds in our group, and the cashier told us that we could come back and add on pony rides just in case the kids didn't want to get on the pony. I thought that was nice because it showed that they weren't just out to take your money--they wanted us to have a great experience. Most pumpkin patches usually have orange pumpkins only, but Cherry Acres had so many beautiful colors--orange, cream, gray-green. They had great photo op areas, too! There were two old green trucks, a flatbed with pumpkins, a pumpkin wall, a wooden board for kids to put their faces into, etc. I witnessed a special needs boy who seemed to be slightly overwhelmed while standing in line for the pony rides. One of the employees was so sweet; she was able to assure the grandmother that she had the perfect horse for her grandson. She was so patient and accommodating and I found that to be refreshing. She let the boy take his time and he was so excited to get on the horse in the end and seemed to have a fantastic time. We went on a Saturday at 10am, so it wasn't too crowded and we found it to be perfect weather at that time, too. I wish Cherry Acres great success!

We loved our visits here in the fall for the Pumpkin Patch and had just as much fun for the Easter Event! Such a cute set up and great deal! Considering just to get one picture with the Easter bunny at the balls runs $40-60. My kiddos loved the Easter egg hunt, all the animals, the bounce pad, and the slide. Looking forward to more fun events at Cherry Acres!

Took my grandson here today. Good fun for kids 2-8. Pony rides $8.00, jump house free, little farm animal petting area, small fee, potato sack slide, snow cones and snacks. It's not huge but for a quick outing to get pumpkins it was nice. 2 dollar per person for persons 6 and up. I would say I would probably go again. It was nice that it was not overcrowded and very age appropriate activities for little ones. Older kids would probably be bored and unimpressed. I went early afternoon I am thinking they have more activities later in the day and evenings.

The Big Red Barn has a lot of fresh fruit, baked goods, and other treats to choose from. The real fun is when you pick the fruit yourself though. We got ourselves some sweet blackberries to take home. Out on the farm, we had the best tractor ride and learned some fun facts about fruits, as well as slid on the huge slide and played some outdoor games. While we were here, we ate some oakie pies. My favorite is thanksgiving dinner. It tastes just like November-- Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and gravy. They have other tasty savory pies like the chicken pot pie, blueberry pulled pork, and the breakfast pie. Of course, you could get some sweet ones too! The service is very friendly and the farm truly has fun for everyone! I can't wait to come back for stone fruit season.

If you decided to pick fruit you pay by the pound at the end which is reasonable but the fee per person just to walk around seemed on the high end. They have goats, chickens, peacocks, a variety of birds, chickens and roosters and cool art displays. We saw signs for paintballing and hayrides though I didn't see any wagons operating. The main reason we stopped was to try the Okie Pies. I had never heard of them and I am always looking to try new things. They remind me of a large empanada or handheld meat pie. We tried 3 savory and 1 dessert Okie Pie. They were out of blueberry so we settled for Apple and it was good but super sweet. I love desserts and unless you're a diehard apple pie fan you may find this to be too sweet. Savory flavors were salsa verde, chicken pot pie, and blueberry BBQ pork. The blueberry BBQ sounds odd but it was everyone's favorite. Everyone was very friendly and there was even someone who let the kids pet the goats and roosters. We'll stop on the way back home for more blueberry BBQ Okie Pies.
