Still no comments from front desk lady. Instead we decided to wait in the car until the appointment. Definitely need improvement in customer service as front desk is the first point of customer contact. I stayed calm as I understand that we are still in a pandemic and everyone is still adjusting to life at home and at the work place. Hopefully the office will include customer friendliness as a training in the future.

I was referred to her thru my Dad who has always been enthusiastic about Dr. Mayer - my left molar broke in two (thanks, BubbleYum!) at work on Thursday evening and I HAD to have it fixed, the hole was open and sure to cause significant damage. My dad called Kelly's personal cellphone, she had never seen me, but was able to fit me in last minute early Friday morning. She moved around her busy schedule for me and took her time, diagnosing and fixing the tooth to perfection, and she did so swiftly so I could make a flight 2 hours away in Baltimore that afternoon. I returned for a routine check up and I have never had my teeth so thoroughly examined in my life by any other dentist (and I have had my fair share of dental and ortho work). Dr. Mayer is so knowledgable, and she's a real pro (she seems so young you'd think she just got into the biz but she works like she's a 50 year vet). She has an incredibly calm and soothing demeanor and at times I actually felt rested and unbothered when I had to have 6 cavities filled at once. The staff is friendly, prompt, and organized. Every hygienist that has worked on me has been gentle and efficient. The atmosphere is positive and upbeat. Best dental experience I have ever had. Seriously, go see her. Side note: I am familiar with dentistry on a base level as I worked an odd job at a nearby dentist for some months. I had such a terrible experience with it (admonishment/degradation from the owner, negative atmosphere, staff did not gel, patients could HEAR the owner yelling at staff in the back, etc) that I was scared off of dentists for two years (hence the six fillings ;)) Not anymore. I have such respect for Contemporary Dentistry and I am now happy to go to the office and my faith in the practice as a whole is restored because of these staff members' dedication, professionalism, and friendliness. Really, we don't realize how difficult dentistry is, looking in people's gnarly mouths every day and dealing with whatever crazy surprise comes up, but Dr. Mayer and her staff make it seem like a breeze. As you see in the picture my daughter was just like new within an hour, and we will be forever grateful. Dr. Grossman seriously must have the best bedside manner you could ever ask of a doctor period, then add it was a Saturday evening. When I finally saw Dr. Patel, he explained that because we had waited so long and because our baby was more mobile and stronger, our options were not as simple and I felt like I was between a rock and a hard place. I was disappointed in myself for days. His office called and asked what I had decided, so I admitted being uncomfortable moving forward with either option. Dr. Patel, having discerned my baby's gentle temperment at our initial consultation, agreed to give us a chance to try the simple procedure that is traditionally suited for newborns with the agreement that if it wasn't going well, we'd call it quits. He was sympathetic to our situation, informative, patient and professional. We all breathed a sigh of relief when the procedure was over and rejoiced that it went so smoothly. He didn't have to do that. Most dentists wouldn't have touched our situation with a ten foot pole. Because Dr. Patel was respectful (and frankly selfless), we were able to address our baby's tongue tie prior to the onset of speech and avoid anesthesia. It was a unique situation handled very well. Dr. Pham explains everything as she is working on your teeth to make sure the patient understands and is comfortable with what she is doing. She also follows up to make sure your teeth are okay. She treated me on this past weekend due to an emergency. My family and relatives have been with Dr. Pham for over 15 years and we have been very happy with her professional work. She also has been accommodating and flexible. The office is very clean and parking is always available. Arranging an appointment is easy to do. They remind you of each appointment by text message or phone, at your choice. However, after I was seated in the dental chair, a coordinator came in and said the total treatment cost would be over $2,000 and that I would need to pay $350. I clearly repeated that both my husband and I only wanted the simple cleaning covered by insurance. They acknowledged this, and we both received only the simple cleaning that day. Two weeks later, the office billed my husband $948 for services not covered by insurance--specifically the X-rays the staffs had told us were fully covered. The office also charged me $88 for "oral hygiene instruction." Instruction? During the visit, the dentist asked when my last cleaning was, and I said four months ago. She mentioned inflammation but didn't identify a cause. I told that I have diabetes and would follow up with my primary care doctor, but that for that day I only wanted the simple cleaning covered by my annual check-up. I believe this billing situation is extremely dishonest. I clearly stated multiple times--when making the appointment, during the visit, to the dentist, and to the coordinator--that I only wanted procedures fully covered by insurance. Yet I still received these charges. I would like to ask: if a dental office says X-rays are fully covered and proceeds with them, but later claims they are not covered, is the patient really responsible for paying the full amount? I also want to know if anyone else has experienced something similar with this dental office.

The wait room and other spaces are nice and clean. They have fun video games to play while you wait, which we never have had to do for very long. Again, we'll-oiled machine. One thing that maybe the kids like, and maybe it's great for those who are scared of the dentist, but I think is overkill, are the tv screens above the patient chair, which the kids watch like zombies while the assistant instructs "open" "close" "turn" etc. At the end of the visit one of the docs will take a look at the child and talk to the parent. Then they get a golden coin, which they can use in the gumball-style machines for a small fun toy or gadget. My kids have loved coming here for the last 12 + years!
