Five stars go out the US postoffice, and 5 extra stars to the nice guy that helped us. Wow, he…read moreknows wat service is all about. The US Postoffice should cherish this kind of employees. They make your business. We're on a roadtrip for 3 and somewhat weeks, visiting from The Netherlands. And of course, again, I bought too much Christmas ornaments. - Little note, on every trip I try to buy some local ornaments so when Christmas arrives I can look at a tree full of memories. - This time a Departement 56 Harley Davidsons motel. And that are not things to get in our already overweight luggage easily. So we considered sending it home. We first made inquiries at FedEx in Nashville because we walked by. Estimated costs: over $200. For that price I a can buy an extra suitcase and pay for extra luggage. So we looked further. In Gatlinburg we visited this post office learning that our package can be send to Europe for a little over $50, including our map and two travelguides we didn't need anymore. Huge difference. But that's not the only reason for the 5 star rating. The guy behind the counter is. He took all the time in the world helping us to fill in the forms, get the stuff boxed, and giving advice about some choices to made. In the mean time he helped several other local customers with quick questions without giving us the feeling he wasn't totally there for us. And in the post office hangs a painting depicting him and a little boy. Make sure to ask him about it. It has to do with 9/11 and I had trouble keeping my eyes dry. And no worries, he wasn't pushy, I asked him about the painting and that made him tell the story. And excuse any grammar and spelling mistakes. English is not my first language. And if that isn't bad enough, my Apple device keeps changing words into 'proper Dutch'. Yes, you've guessed right, my first language.

We have never found a line to wait in. This is a Post Office that provides fast one stop service for mailing or stamps. The clerks are a great help with information about places in town and just about anything else you may need as an out of towner. We highly recommend they for local information and other needs you may have.

They like to swing it, nothing terrible, but that's the highlight of the post office, and I've always figured that hey, it keeps them happy! Before they could even cause much trouble, aside from swinging it (my daughter did almost knock over the post, Sandy barked that I'd better make them stop. She was clearly awful, so even though they were a little extra rowdy, I tried a little harder than usual to keep them behaving. Then my 1 year old stepped OVER the rope. Sandy barked at us again. Me: "Really? She stepped OVER the rope!" Sandy: "I've seen kids fall and crack their heads" So now my 1 hear old is trying to touch everything and my 3 year old is, in Sandy's defense, being ultra whiney asking for something I could not understand. My 1 year old grabs a couple of cards, which I immediately check for damage and reshelve. SV: "you gotta get these kids outta here. They are gonna to drive me crazy." Me: that was wildly unprofessional. SV: well, keep control of your kids. Me: turning around to the line behind me "are they really being that bad or are they just being kids? Most of the line shook their heads no. One lady said yes. She was Sandy's age and clearly of that super destructive mentality that kids should be seen and not heard and all that nonsense. They were being a bit extra, but still... I have NEVER in, not only my 3 years as a mother, but in all my life as an aunt, caregiver, etc, had anybody treat my children like that! The guy who was washing the windows apologized on her behalf. And the customer 2 behind me came out and said "I have 6 kids. Yours were just acting like kids." And in addition, Sandy was quite rude to this gentleman. Apparently he was kind enough to bring something that had mistakenly been delivered to him. Sandy proclaimed something along the lines of "handling misdeliveries shouldn't be my problem". She was truly an awful employee. I very rarely write bad reviews. I prefer to write positive reviews, which I do often. There is enough negativity out there. Generally (and Sandy could benefit from this practice), if I have nothing nice to say, I say nothing at all. But if I never see her face again until we meet in hell, it will be too soon. Thank you for promptly handling your employee and sharing my feedback with her. Sandy, you suck and you would not even be an adequate employee in a box, never exposed to the public.

This is the absolute worst Government office I've ever had to deal with in my life. The worst…read more We moved into our quite, secluded home approximately 3 months ago. In that time, even though they've been asked not to, the Post Office has continued to use our circular drive as their own person short cut to the neighbors mailbox. Not only are they cutting through the middle of our property, they are doing it at high rates of speed. Each and every time we've called to Post Office to report this, we end up with mail delivery and pick up issues. The previous owner had asked them to please stop using her driveway as a short cut, but our carrier told us "We just kept doing it anyway." Yes, you read that right. We were told, in not so many words, "We're the government, we'll do what we want". Luckily, we get most of our bills electronically, so I don't have to worry about not receiving them and having our power shut off. However, I do send out many packages and the Post Office is now refusing to pick up at my house because there's "no safe place for them to turn around". Not only have we expressed numerous times that driving through our property to pick up and deliver mail is NOT an issue and we would NEVER expect someone to turn around or back up when they could just continue on, but we also have a huge alcove that allows turning around of vehicles much larger than the standard mail delivery truck. With that said, what we DO have issue with is our driveway being used as a public road or private race track. We have pets and children that we are afraid to let out to play in the only flat area they have to play in. They Post Office has twisted every conversation we've had with them. Coming up with many different versions of "you told us we aren't allowed on your property because it's private". This is a flat out lie. At they end of one our many conversations, the Post Master actually told us he would "pray with our carrier for solution". Yes, you read that right, too. So, unless we allow the Federal Government carte blanche to our property, we don't get the benefit of mail delivery that we pay for. Like, reviewer Amy S. We were told they would leave and pick up packages at our mailbox only, which is far from our home and in no way secure or protected from the elements. This is not an acceptable resolution. The Post Master needs to go and someone put in his place that will fulfill their duties to the American public.
