It's very remote, but worth the drive. The restaurant is built and decorated in a lodge style. We had a table directly in front of the fireplace. Our server was excellent. She knew the menu well, memorized everyone's order, and checked on us continually throughout the meal. They had a very good (and pricey) wine list. I had a Riesling, but it was ordered for us, so I don't know the specifics. The menu is a bit limited. I started with a Hal Caesar salad. It was just the right amount of salad and dressing, and was very good. For dinner, I wanted the scallops, but not with caviar that it comes with. I would have liked the trout, but it's not Rainbow or other white flaky varieties. It's Steelhead, which pink and dense like salmon, so I settled on the paradelle with wild boar ragu. It was tasty in a brown, but spicy, sauce. The meat was tender, and the noodles were excellent. They tasted homemade. We finished by sharing their desserts. I particularly enjoyed the cheesecake.

Our host is on the board of directors and he was able to give us a very nice tour of the facilities. There is something for everyone! Besides golf and tennis and the usual, there is a 21 plus section of the pool along with a bar and bar service. There are ample spots for kids and families, not just at the pool, but also a separate family oriented dining area and playroom set up for the children. The fitness center has state of the art equipment. The only downside is that space is limited, physically the grounds can't expand and parking can be at a premium. Our meal was excellent, soft shell crab with poblano and sweet peppers over grits for me and a half size wedge salad with added grilled shrimp for my wife. We enjoyed a perfect evening at this club.

The food was really well prepared when I worked there. The facility was always sparkling clean and the kitchen was spotless and well run! I can't speak to the golf, since I have never golfed here. I do know there is a mature pecan tree on the edge of the golf course where people like to go and load up on the pecans when they are in season. The swimming pool was always well managed and full of young people and a few adults, too. It was nice that members can order food and have it delivered to them at the pool! Huntsville County Club offers a variety of memberships from City Social (non golfer), Corporate Membership, Non-Resident Golf, Senior Golf, Full Resident Gold, Young Executive Golf, and Junior Executive Golf. The Huntsville County Club Golf Pros teach golf lessons to children aged 4 and up and adults. They've always had a nice pro shop, and they've added a TrackMan golf simulation room in 2019. The TrackMan is a 650 square foot room in the clubhouse with TrackMan 4 golf simulation technology, artificial turf, and a 225 inch screen that projects data. This room is used for lessons, practice, playing, or "just surviving the winter months without being cold." If you get the opportunity, do visit Huntsville County Club, it is a lovely addition to Huntsville!

Close to the airport so small planes taking off and landing, more cool than it is annoying but usually a little bit of both. Always in good shape and dries pretty quickly after rain. On colder days bring an extra layer as the wind comes of the lake pretty good.

I gave it 3 stars because it is so old fashioned that it's pretty outdated and the chairs were banquet style and pretty uncomfortable to sit in for several hours. We were in an upstairs room and were served buffet style. The food was average and included some limited salad options, chicken breasts done piccata style, but there was no pasta to pair it with which I found odd. Instead there was a bland herb rice. There was also some kind of beef dish that I don't know if it really has a name, it was pieces of beef in a dark sauce, but it also didn't have much flavor. Other sides included: very dense mashed potatoes, steamed green beans with almond slivers, and steamed veggies (squash i believe). The staff was very nice and the room was effective for the Q&A panel but I was really unimpressed with the food, and would have rather had the Q&A in the classroom we were using because the chairs were a lot more comfortable.

So fortunate to participate in a 'shamble' scramble here yesterday. The weather was absolutely dialed in, and everything was seamless from registration (great swag thanks to Blue Creek) to the post scramble meal, to the pro shop where you redeem your prizes (yeah, I um, scored the "ladies longest drive" prize - shameless plug). Turns out the pro shop has everything you'd want clothing wise, from onesies for babies to children's golf clothes to cigars and a good array of selections for men, but, nothing cute and frilly for me. As I was feeling deflated, the pro offered up a catalog to me, and I scored two adorable pink golf shirts that he will have custom embroidered with their logo for me! Nice touch! I had never played golf using carts that stop automatically, meaning you do not have to squash in the brake to lock the cart in place, until yesterday at the Ledges. This is an excellent feature for this course because it is literally like a roller coaster in twists and turns! At any angle, when you put your foot on the brake, the cart stops and stays put. Each hole is named (e.g., Old Stoney, The Pedestal, False Hope (featuring an unseen water hazard), Hawks Haven (yes, there are hawks up there!), Temptation). The greens are crazy fun because you get so many crazy "toilet bowl" rolls, and some putts actually appear to roll uphill! Only regret was not enjoying the driving range prior to the scramble. They take a supersized golf cart way down in the valley to an absolutely lovely driving range. Our group was too happy socializing to take advantage of a proper warm up in the awesome driving range Had we done this, maybe my twosome would have scored better than next to last, ha ha!
