As they become comfortable with your stay, they become increasingly hostile over seriously nothing. A simple question about Wi-Fi or anything will elicit screams and hollers and even hanging up on you. Joni even yelled at my DoorDash driver who was still parked in my driveway. She has owned this campground for 28 years as she will remind you time and time again. In my opinion it's time to retire. She is burnt out and the most unhappiest woman I have ever met. This is not exclusive to me, but all of my neighbors as well. They are terrified of her. I think I'm the only one to stand up to her outbursts and not take her sh*t. The more scenic sites are at a 45° angle so be prepared to back your RV in up at that angle. Please know that if there is any rain, you will be quite easily stuck at your site due to slick mud and clay and ancient, well embedded gravel that is no longer helpful for your RV and vehicle. My Expedition was stuck just pulling into my drive, if that tells you anything. There are so many other great RV sites such as Tuckaseegee (River & Rails), Great Smoky Mtns RV resort, and the Great Outdoors ($$$$). There is no reason to deal with the hostility here. My experience is from the perspective of the one in charge of cooking and meals for our group. Our group had rented their kitchen space and because we don't live in the area we relied on them to adequately convey the facilities which were woefully misrepresented. BEFORE ARRIVAL: Called 1 week prior to confirm space and storage availability as I was bringing as much food with us as possible. I was informed that from my original call several months prior some refrigerators were no longer working and that they would double check. She further stated that there was a Boy Scout troop coming in and that we would need to share the kitchen space and fridge/freezers. ARRIVAL: We arrive from VA one hour prior to dinner needing to be prepared and served due to traffic and walked into this kitchen area to a disgusting kitchen and dining space. The sink was full of ants and completely clogged, half of the gas stovetop burners would not work and one oven was not functional. There was a layer of filth on everything in there. Our group went to cleaning immediately before we could even prepare food and notified the office of our problems. DURING: Room flooded Two replacement stoves One significant gas leak (where I lost some cognitive function temporarily) Prolific ants Deep freezer full of unlabeled random items that had barely any space available. ..and my home for a week #20 RV...the trailer was cleanish but dilapidated, rusty and had no functioning outdoor lighting. The view off the deck was nice. I will never return or recommend this place to anyone. Ever. Ever.

We rented 6 sites close to each other and informed all our neighbors we would be celebrating that weekend. All neighbors had no problems with my group except the owners of the establishment. We have been going there for years now and did not expect the owners to have such a problem with us. We were told to be quiet two ours before quiet time each night while our neighboring campers had not heard us. We feel we were targeting for no reason. Would never go there again even though we have been going for years prior. A friend of mine posted a review and the owner deleted it. The owner doesn't like people and should not be working this business. If I could do a negative 5 review I would!!!!!!! Never again

DEEP CREEK TUBE RENTAL operates out of the general store for Smoky Mountain Campground. It is the…read morelast tube rental opportunity on the right side of Deep Creek Road before it enters into the park. This became our first adventure of a week long vacation as we stopped here during the drive to our destination. We checked with several of the nearby tube rental businesses and decided on this one not only because of their location, but also because they did not charge us to use the life vests required for anyone under 13 years old. Other places either charged an additional fee or wanted a deposit. The staff was friendly and I even had a little sports banter with the owner, who had a God-awful Alabama hat on... Go GA Bulldogs!!! LOL But where they earned 5-stars was because of their honest dealings . We visited two days after heavy rain had swollen the river. While the overall volume was significantly down, it was still fairly swift. This caused a few traumatic moments as three adults had to fish three kids (6,7,8) out of the creek in fast moving current once they reached the take-out point near the bridge. This of course was not the rental companies fault, BUT it would have been useful to know the best places to exit the water. Some sort of map or signage along the creek would have been extremely helpful. Exiting the creek was so difficult by the bridge that safety for the youngest became an alarming issue and two rafts (and a pair of shoes) were lost in the battle between holding on to the kids or holding on to the rafts. At checkout the owners charged us about $55 per raft, but told us they would refund the money IF the rafts were found by the end of the day. They were indeed found and the owners not only texted us the same day, but had the money in our account before weeks end. I TRULY appreciate the honesty because we would have been none the wiser! [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] Aside from the difficulty exiting the creek, they also had a wipeout on a bottleneck rapid further upstream that really traumatized the youngest of our group. I didn't think the poor kid would ever go in water again, but luckily a few hugs and a slice of pizza brought him back from a dark place. So for families with kids single digit in age, I'd recommend putting your rafts in at Tom's Creek Falls when volume is up (and not the one near Indian Creek) which avoids the more challenging area for tubers. In retrospect I would have dropped my crew at the trailhead and driven back to the General Store and waited to help them exit there. It would have given them a longer ride in the river. Still, it did make for a lively story during the remainder of our vacation! It's amazing how little boys go from scared and crying in the moment to superhero's who called on their Aquaman powers when retelling the tale days later! LOL PS - The tube rentals are ALL DAY until closing (7pm). Cost was $8/tube with a dollar off coupon for checking-in on yelp. BE SAFE and enjoy! 2022 / 93

There is a beautiful rushing creek. And the dog park is the largest and cleanest one I have ever encountered at a campground (we are full time). There is also a "hike" up the mountain on a gravel road. It's a brutal workout. And it ends with a dead end rather than a beautiful lookout so, don't take it unless you want the exercise and are ready for a steady, steep climb all the way up. It's about a mile long. There are no bathrooms or laundry facilities so, this is a place for folks who are fully contained.

Plenty of pillows and extra blankets/sheets. Very clean but no smell of artificial fragrances or cleaners. The views are incredible. The hot tub was relaxing after a day of hiking near by. Love how close the cabin is to the cute Bryson Cit's downtown and convenient to grocery stores. We want to come back again with our families- the game room downstairs would be a great spot for the teens (& husbands) and there were more beds in the loft that we didn't even use. Loved this cabin and will definitely be back!

After staying at the Deep Creek Campground for a few days without a shower, I felt quite grimy and…read morewas desperate for a shower. This campground / RV park is one of the few places that allows people from OTHER campgrounds to use their showers (for a small fee, of course). You just drive into the parking lot, find the trailer near the entrance with the small golf cart next to it, knock on the door, and the man who runs the campground will come out. Each shower is $5 but you'll feel like a million bucks afterwards. Try to bring exact change since he may not have change. If the office trailer with the golf cart isn't obvious, there should be a paper posted on the door of the little building closest to the road directing you where to go. Though the interior was very dimly lit, the showers in the women's bathhouse seemed clean. The toilets were not clean, though--I advise not using them. There are also electrical outlets around the sink where you can charge your stuff. No one else entered the bathhouse while I was in it. Bear Hunter Campground is pretty close to the Bryson City downtown (though you'll definitely need a car). Hike all day in the Smokey Mountains, take a shower here, and go back to your campground to rest at night.
