We recently celebrated my niece's wedding at this venue. The chapel is beautiful and provided a…read morelovely setting for the ceremony, and the reception hall was adequate for our celebration. Unfortunately, our overall experience was overshadowed by how the owner treated our family and the volunteers who generously gave their time to help with setup and cleanup. While the owner was pleasant to my niece throughout the planning process, her demeanor toward our family and friends was noticeably different. Several people assisting with cleanup were spoken to rudely and made to feel unwelcome. What was most concerning was that our volunteers were prevented from using the sink to wash the venue's stemware, stainless steel copper chafing dishes, and large beverage carafes before they were packed away. The owner then packed these items away dirty. This was not only unhygienic but also irresponsible. Packing expensive serving pieces and crystal without cleaning them risks permanent staining, damage, and corrosion. Crystal was left with coffee stains, red hibiscus tea residue, and metal serving pieces were stored with food residue still on them. Had I known our friends were being treated this way, I would never have allowed it to continue. My advice to future brides and wedding planners is this: if you choose this venue, have a very clear conversation in advance about cleanup procedures and how your family, wedding party, and volunteers will be treated. The people who donate their time to make a wedding special deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect. A beautiful venue alone does not create a wonderful experience. Hospitality extends beyond the bride and groom, it includes the people who are there to support them. I sincerely hope the owner reflects on this experience, offers an apology to those who were treated poorly, and improves how she interacts with the families who entrust her with such important occasions.

Got married on July 5th, 2024 at The Black Oak. It was a remarkable day. Kelly is a ROCKSTAR and is…read moreVERY good at her job. Venue is beautiful and has sort of a "homey" feel to it. As the groom, she did a nice job of letting me and the boys just relax while also keeping us dialed in and focused. The groomsmen room is a nice set up, with plenty of room to get ready. The groomsmen room also has a full bathroom with a shower which was nice. The wife and I were so grateful to not have to worry about anything the day of because of the level of organization and detail that Kelly had. Would highly recommend this venue for your wedding. Couldn't picture our wedding day anywhere else. If you don't choose The Black Oak and Kelly, you're making a mistake. Can't speak highly enough of this place and the people there.
