When we picked him up he was happy, excited to see us, but was wagging his tail at the ladies there at the kennel. He was clean and his bedding was clean. While shopping our puppy was in the trailer, when we came back there was blood everywhere. Turns out military jets were flying low over the trailer and spooked the puppy. He must have caught one of his nails on something and pretty well pulled it out. There we were in a strange town, towing a large travel trailer with a blood soaked, scared puppy. I did a search and found The Pet Medical Center just a couple of blocks away. I phoned and explained the situation. They told me to bring him right over and I could put the trailer in the parking lot. We carried him into the office, they were waiting for us and met us at the door. He was on the table in 30 seconds and getting treatment right away. I was worried about blocking their parking lot and was invited to put my trailer in an open field behind the office. We told Letty (at the front desk) that we were going to go into the trailer and make some lunch since we'd been on the road all morning. She volunteered to drive us to a local restaurant and pick us up when we finished eating. During lunch she called to say Ace was ready to go and doing fine. To top off the story we have pet medical insurance and they allowed me to use their computer and printer to print out a claim form, filled it out and faxed it in for me!! Don't delay - this is the place to go in the Basin.

The yard and kennels are clean and the dogs are well cared for. Cynthia is honest and direct. The pricing is very affordable. I'm sure this style of boarding isn't for everyone-- I've had dogs in the past who needed a more structured, traditional kennel setting or who were uneasy around other dogs and would not have been happy here. But it's great for my current dog who seems to regard this place as a second home, arrives willingly, and comes home tired and relaxed.

If you want a quality place that will keep a close eye on your pup look no further…read more It isn't fancy. In fact it stinks like dirty dogs. Which is fine- cuz it's packed full of dogs rough housing all day! Marcus runs the show. He's damn good with canine behavior and training- and my vote totes counts as I'm a veterinarian. He has at least 2 ladies working for him, and they're attentive as well. The dogs have a large room to romp all day. Clean ups are quick and complete. Records are required to make sure communicable diseases are at a minimum. The dogs LOVE being there. Many places don't let dogs play all day. Many others don't have staff that are fully trained in canine behavior, and therefore skirmishes or lack of appropriate training/response to behaviors doesn't happen. Ruff House keeps the dogs best interest in mind. Prices are very fair. I think they should charge more honestly. They offer training services as well, and are always active with the local rescue groups to help dogs. I only wish they had expanded hours and weekends! My girl goes 2-3 times a week while we work. She starts vibrating with excitements when we turn onto 7th street. And at drop off its "peace out Mom!"
