I was the tenant in an apartment managed by Chel NW Realty, and I'm coming forward after hearing the experiences of others in terms of how Christina Lienenlueke treated them. I'd give zero stars if it were an option, and I frankly think Christina should lose her business license with the city of Seattle and never be allowed to manage properties ever again.
Christina makes a solid first impression, but don't be fooled. She's terse, rude, quick to judge, undiplomatic, and interruptive if you try and advocate for yourself or ask her to fix things. She also does NOT care about you, your safety, or your feelings.
About 4-5 months after I moved in, as the weather got colder I was spending more time inside, I started to develop some health problems (fatigue, lethargy, stomach issues, muscle pains, lower back pain, restlessness, inability to sleep well, etc.). I couldn't get enough sleep. After months of doctor's visits where I had an ultrasound, a CT scan, and other tests, I could not figure out why I was feeling so terrible all the time. It wasn't until I moved out in mid-May 2023 that I started feeling better. And that's when I realized it was the apartment that was making me sick. Subsequent tenants who have lived in the apartment after me have gotten the water tested, and there are grossly elevated levels of lead and copper in the water. There is most assuredly mold in the bathroom as well.
I also have numerous instances that are worth sharing where Christina either wouldn't fix things or tried charging me $ for things that were her responsibility:
1) My bathroom sink started overflowing with brown water late one evening. I emailed her, and she said that plumbing issues are the tenant's responsibility (see email screenshot attached).
2) This apartment is on the second floor. When I moved in, the outside windows were filthy, and I called that out to her on the move-in checklist. Months later, I asked if she could send someone out to clean them, and she said it was my responsibility. How is that ever a tenant's responsibility? What am I supposed to do, get up on a 26 ft. ladder and clean them myself? The lease said nothing about tenants being responsible for cleaning the outside of the windows. As we have snow, wildfire smoke, and ample rain, the windows get dirty, and it should be part of regular maintenance that she as the property manager is responsible for.
3) The washing machine in the basement of the building is full of mildew and mold. Christina wouldn't pay to have it serviced or cleaned. See pictures of this as well.
4) On the move-in checklist and via email, I clearly called out to her that there was paint chipping above the bathroom door, and after I called her over to inspect mold in the bathroom many months later, she sent me an email that afternoon saying that the "Peeling Wall above Bathroom Door (pics attached). This was not present at the time of your move in." This was yet another example of her trying to essentially steal my deposit money.
5) I had an ant problem for some inexplicable reason, and she said that was my responsibility as well. The tenant below my apartment as well had an ant issue too.
Please do not rent from Chel NW Realty and Christina. She will do exactly the same thing to you. read more
