The only sections open for winter were the small section we stayed in and the open field area. Unfortunately for us, the sections closed for the season were the prettiest...much more treed and private feeling there. We enjoyed one hike, the boardwalk-old growth-orchard sections and back to the campground. Apparently there is some damage to parts of the trail system here, but those we took were in good shape, just a bit muddy. Although we didn't get around to the lake, it looked gorgeous when we passed by driving in. Aside from the site across from ours after the teens left that morning, the grounds were all very clean. Pretty area and park...although I probably would only return if I could stay in the closed sections. :)

I realized the mistake that I had made by staying at the other place. This place has more to offer. Even though the other place is more expensive and has larger spots, this place has a swimming area, easy access to the water for those with boats or kayaks, or just floats. I will return to this place in summer 2026. Plus, I do like the idea of ordering breakfast and not having to cook. ;) Ice cream is the double plus. (Labor Day 2025)

Great stay for big rigs, but a few small things…read more I stayed here in October with my 46ft fifth wheel, and campsite 73 fit it comfortably with no issues at all. The site features a full hookup that worked perfectly. Just a heads up for big rigs, the sites only have 30 amp service and they pump the water from the lake itself so if you don't have a filter on your rv just know it's dirty. You can take a white 5 gallon bucket and fill it with water, you'll see right away it's dirty. Since it was October, the price was $45 a night, plus an extra $15 a night for an extra vehicle. It felt a little expensive for the off-season, but whatever. They charged $180 for 3 nights. A few things to note about the facilities and amenities: * Bathrooms/Showers: The bathrooms kinda smelt bad, but they were definitely usable. The showers work fine, but keep in mind they are coin-operated and you have to pay 50 cents every 5 minutes. * The Lake & Recreation: The lake itself is really nice. They have a boat launch, a dock you can fish off of, and nice trails along the water where you can walk. Biking around the campsites is also really nice. * Fishing: The salmon catch is good here, but some days it's very slow, like 2 fish in 8 hours. Some guy next to me caught two 4.5lb bass. I caught a ton of smaller bass and trout myself (though rarely trout, I think I only got 1). If you are looking for a great day trip, the Skyline Trail hike is about an hour away and it is absolutely amazing. I would 100% recommend doing that hike at any time of day!

The full hook up sites are pretty sparse near the main road and there's not a whole lot of greenery. The non-hook up sites are spacious and have picnic tables and fire rings. Mayfield Lake Park Review…read more We absolutely love Mayfield Lake Park and spend many weekends here during the summer camping in our little tent and chasing muskies. The staff is always friendly, professional, and hardworking, and they truly go above and beyond to make every visit enjoyable. The park is always spotless -- from the campsites to the bathrooms and park areas -- and you can tell the staff takes pride in keeping it that way. On this trip, we came across an injured feral cat near our site. Skyler responded immediately and professionally, setting a trap to help the cat. My son was able to safely get the cat into the cage, and the staff took it to an animal sanctuary. We were so impressed by how quickly and compassionately they handled the situation. Another example of their dedication happened when we accidentally left soap in the shower the night before. Ben was quick to check if it had been found (unfortunately, someone had walked off with my husband's men's Dove soap), but we appreciated his effort and quick response. We drive an hour and a half from our home to spend time at this beautiful lake, and it's always worth the trip. The staff truly deserve recognition for their dedication, hard work, and kindness. Mayfield Lake Park will always be one of our favorite places to relax, fish, and enjoy nature.

There were a few hikers there, but otherwise mostly those preparing to fish. We didn't visit the camping section, but they've got a decent sized day-use area with a good amount of parking, tables, and restrooms. We took the forest loop trail that leads from the lake along the stream through the forest and back around to the day-use, about 2 1/2 miles. There are sections of the trail that are simply gorgeous, and other parts not quite as pretty. But the trail is pretty fun, ups and downs, winding with steps and bridges. While the path is completely passable right now, it was very muddy in many places. A bit precarious at times, as some of the soupiest, slickest spots happened to be on inclines and declines. You'll definitely need waterproof shoes and prepare to get dirty, but Sylvia is good for a quick hike. They've got some interesting educational info along the trail too...and the lake has a very peaceful feeling.

Well, we were not too worried since the site next to us had no campers (July 2) and the one on the other side stayed in their TT. ... THEN the 3rd arrived. UGH! The quiet people left in the morning and were replaced by two families and the other side had a good size group. They were overall quiet but the double, if not triple family site decided to make this their grand central. They had friends from different sites visit and stay. Midnight came and went and they were still loud but I thought, well, at least the music stopped. Kind of wish the music would turn back on because they got louder and louder. 3:45 AM and they were LOUD! I didn't want to start trouble so put my DVD player on. What would have helped if knowing that 10PM or 11PM was quiet hour, why wouldn't the host drive around at midnight to check on the noise level? This was what upset me. Let me tell you that the place was nice and I'm learning that when you camp with hookups they are closer together. Okay, that would be fine, but even more reason for the host to keep an eye on the party people. The place itself is clean and neat. Don't plan on launching your boat from here (or kayak) but there is a place just 2 minutes from here where you can. That's where we went in. The lake is nice, too. --- Let me take that back, if you are brave and more experienced than me, you may be able to launch kayak. I need a boat ramp or beach. ;) The place would have seriously gotten a 5 star if not for the lack of consideration I felt that the hosts had by not checking the spots after quiet hours. BTW, yes, I know it was a holiday weekend, but come on! 3AM!!!!???!!! FYI: I would recommend this on a quieter weekend or weekday.
