We could not be happier with the recommendation as the appetizers and entrées were absolutely stunning -- both in flavor and aesthetics! Our biggest difficulty was choosing dishes from his diverse catalog of offerings since they all sounded delicious. He was also very accommodating and made various adjustments to account for particular food allergies that some of our guests had (without compromising on flavor at all). For appetizers, we chose: - Pepper-Crusted Seared Ahi Tuna (Seka Hills EVOO, Sicilian Pesto, Herbs) - Ratatouille Tarts (Puff Pastry, Seka Hills EVOO, Parmigiano Reggiano) - Pistachio Flatbread (Onion, Burrata, Honey, and Chili Oil -- this one was a extra-huge hit with all guests) For dinner, we started with a Local Harvest Salad (Farm Vegetables, Fruit, Vinaigrette, Cheese, and Nuts -- plating was particularly beautiful for the salad), and had three entrée options: - Wagyu New York Steak (Imperial American Wagyu, Roasted Vegetables, Marinated Portobello Mushrooms, Potato Galette, and Red Wine Jus) - Signature Duck (Mary's Crusted Duck Breast, Hind-Quarter Confit, Potato Cake, Charred Vegetables, and Duck Jus) - Roasted Butternut Squash with Cannellini Beans (Charred Vegetables, Marinated Portobello Mushrooms, and Saffron-Rosemary Broth) Throughout our entire wedding and afterwards, guests were telling us how impressed they were and that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding! He and his team arrived right on schedule, set up (including silverware and plates) cooked and served outstanding food, provided extremely attentive service, and then cleaned up, leaving the kitchen absolutely spotless (while also deftly navigating a brief power outage!). We cannot recommend Adam Small Cooks highly enough! His food, attention to detail, and service are truly next level. Thank you again for making our wedding so special!

Chef Adam was amazing!!!…read more We celebrated a friend's birthday with 6 people at an Airbnb in Sonoma. We had a six course menu (see below for details) that was excellent! For the vegetarian in the group (me) he was able to whip up a wonderful dish when everyone else was eating halibut. Every single dish was a stand out and the group was so happy with how everything turned out. This was a wish of the birthday girl - to have a private chef and to spend time with her girlfriends. She was blown away by the experience. The 6 course meal included: Fried Baby Artichokes: lemon aioli, herbs, chili oil Flatbread: preserved truffle, pistachios, onion, burrata, honey, chili oil Ash Roasted Beets: kimchi honey, pistachios, ravigote, feta Charred Zucchini Agnolotti: fried sage, brown butter, lemon, pepper, parmigiana Seared Halibut: fennel-potato salad, herbs, haricot vert, preserved truffle champagne sauce Under-Baked Chocolate Cake: Italian meringue, Luxardo cherries, cocoa nibs Also, our kitchen was left spotless! Thanks again Chef Adam for giving us the perfect first day of our trip!

Everything was delicious! We had Pomes Fruit and Citrus Salad, Housin-Braised Beef Short Ribs, Matcha Crème brûlée. We found him on yelp and loved his reviews and also loved how unique his menu was as it had Korean and Chinese fusion which was so perfect for our wedding. The food is absolutely incredible and we literally got so many compliments from our guests saying the food was the best food they've ever had at any wedding. Chef ken was also very helpful in helping us pick out the dish wear and arranged all of the rental dishware which made the process easy. The only problems we had with Chef Ken was that he can often be non-responsive and difficult to get in touch with through email. He's definitely busy and has multiple private events going on but at times we had to really hunt him down. It was difficult also because his secretary went on vacation around the time of the wedding so I think he was managing everything on his own. Also, I would also get everything written in bullet points for Chef Ken as he's definitely busy and it's easy for him to forget things we agreed on such as quantity of amount of certain dishes, rental numbers, types of food we ordered, deduction of the initial taste testing, etc. Small things but it changes the overall invoice and required a bunch of redoing of the invoices. He also said he would help us come up with a custom drink menu for our wedding which we ended up scrambling at the end to make our own menu. Again, I think there was just too much for Chef Ken to do on his own without extra help. Overall though, the wedding day went extremely smoothly with no issues. The staff he hired was solid and exceptional. The bartenders were awesome and fun. The food including the entrees, dessert and appetizers were amazing and it was unanimous from the guests that the food at our wedding was by far the best from any other wedding they've been to. Highlights was everyone loves the Miso Chilean Sea bass, Korean Street Tacos, Poke Tacos and the Tomahawk steak. My personal favorite was the Garlic Noodles!

Through yelp search, I contacted several vendors one of whom was Tacos El Jefeson. Ricardo Camarena replied to me in less than 24 hours, providing the link to their form and telling me, "TACO CATERING PRICE IS $15 PER-PERSON)( 50 PEOPLE MINIMUM) I'll make sure to include a complementary side. Anything over the minimum is okay." Planning with Ricardo was straightforward and easy. He was very friendly and accommodating. Once we settled on the details, a system generated invoice was sent to me and a minimum $200 deposit to confirm the date was due. The $200 deposit went towards our service. Below is what was served by Tacos El Jefeson: Asada, Pollo and Al Pastor Without Pineapple Tacos for 65 People ($925.00) - Included in the price was a side of Rice & Beans (We requested for both Refried & Whole), a salsa bar with 2 salsas & Condiments such as Grilled onions , Grilled serranos, Radishes, Cilantro, diced limes and Tortilla chips. They also provided Napkins, plates, & plastic utensils. A very nice spread it was and the tacos were delish, served hot and fresh, straight from the grill with big smiles. Cucumber pico de gallo (Monthly Promotion for $0.00) - This was the yummy complimentary side. The cucumbers were fresh with a nice crisp. Watermelon Aqua Fresca ($100.00) - Initially, we were not going to order any agua fresca since my aunt was already making homemade horchata. At last minute, we added a 5-gallon order of Watermelon Agua Fresca. Glad that we did because the beverage was refreshingly delicious. I highly recommend serving this drink! 50 Cinnamon Churros ($150.00) - The churros were a big hit and were quickly gone within minutes. Next time, we will need to order more for sure! We paid for two additional hours at $120.00 each, so $240.00 altogether. My family likes to party all day and all night, so the extra time was very much needed. Chef Ricardo and Antonio were the ones who came to set up, cook, serve, and clean up. They were punctual, organized, and were a delight to work with. At the end of their service period, they did start to pack up fifteen minutes early because it seemed that no one was approaching the grill for more tacos. We probably should have had them wait until the full extra two hours was up because as luck would have it, we had a few tardy attendees show up. We had plenty of leftovers, so we prepared their tacos ourselves after Ricardo and Antonio were gone. In total, we had 6 hours of service; 2 Hours Of Preparation & Cooking from 12pm-2pm and 4 Hours Of Serving Time from 2pm-6pm. Tacos El Jefeson's kitchen is based in Fremont, so we were charged a Travel fee of $40.00. Heads-up - A 15% gratuity is automatically added to your invoice up front, but well worth it - Chef Ricardo & Antonio were extremely polite and friendly. Antonio even assisted mi abuela (my grandma) to get in the car when she was leaving. The Tacos El Jefeson team were awesome. We enjoyed their company so much that we invited them to stay and hang out and party with us (no working, of course). If you prefer not to use cash, you can pay via credit card for a 4.2% credit card transaction fee. For our next party with taquizas, we will mos def hit up Tacos El Jefeson again.

Chef Ricardo was very responsive to all communications and really easy to work with. We were able to finalize my party menu quickly with a few updates. On the day of the party, Chef Ricardo and team arrived to our venue punctually and got to work setting up as soon as they got there. We were really impressed with the amount of food provided for 25 people. They laid everything out and all trays had labels of what was inside. We ordered tacos for 25 people with carne asada, Al pastor with pineapple and chicken as our meats. I also added on fajitas veggies and horchata. Over 400 piping hot tortillas were provided. I can definitely see how Tacos El Jefeson earned such great reviews. All the meats were great. All my guests complimented the tacos. We had plenty left for lunch and dinner the following day as well. I'm really pleased with my experience working with Chef Ricardo. Definitely keeping his contact for future catering needs.

Let's break down the dishes: Hennessy Chicken: Glazed chicken thigh on a bed of rice with veggies and side salad. The chicken was moist, juicy, and full of flavor. The Australian wagyu was delivered and presented on a bed of lettuce, cooked to a perfect medium rare, finished with a savory brown sauce and included an Asian twist of chimmi churry. Butter chicken burrito - 3/5 loved the idea of it but it was so not butter chicken. It was basically a spicy white chole (indian garbanzo beans gravy) and rice burrito with scanty shredded chicken pieces thrown in between. I didnt taste anything like "butter chicken" in it. It was palatable but maybe they can just rename it to what they r stuffing inside it. It wasspicy 4/5 for me so if u cant handle heat, dont order it. U might get confused with seeing the name "butter chicken" but its nothing like that. 2. Paneer bhurji burrito - this was yellow turmeric and black pepper minced paneer (indian cottage cheese) with onions and spiced rice :( no taste at all. Super boring 1/5 3. Chips and salsa (green and red) were decent 4. Gulab jamun - were average and good. Nothing out of the world but definitely decent to finish of with so i will rate it as 3/5 I wish they improved their quality of ingredients as the paneer and rice quality was not up to the mark.

But after having a truly stellar meal with Chef Stephen, I can wholeheartedly recommend Pocket Chefs! Here's how it works: the chefs can make 3 dishes that comprise about 4-6 servings and you provide the recipes and ingredients. Free consultation included (a couple of quick 5-minute phone convos). If you really have no idea what to have made, you can pay to have a more in-depth consultation where they craft custom meal plans for you. Although these services are ideal for meal prep for a busy week, we had Chef Stephen cook for a small dinner party of 4 and it was a hit (we also had a weekend full of leftovers which was perfect). We requested Thai food (pad kee mao aka drunken noodles with chicken, pad kra pao aka Thai basil eggplant with ground pork, and som tam aka papaya salad) and he delivered! The recipes weren't followed 100% but it was all good and the result was for some very tasty food. What was great was that the hot dishes reheated nicely too (my husband thought they even tasted better the second day)! Finally, we appreciated how clean Chef Stephen was and that all used dishes and utensils were placed neatly in the dishwasher. All and all, I would say this is a really great and efficient service, especially for folks with diet restrictions and/or who want to eat more healthily but who also want more control in terms of what they eat (hence my hesitation about subscribing to food delivery services as what if the flavors that week don't match my cravings?!). I think PocketChefs would also make an incredible gift for a new mom as well as if you're hosting a small party and would like some meals prepped!
