    Cooking the Pralines!
    Jordan L.

My husband and I took the Praline making class with Chef Darin. This class was such a great experience! Chef Darin made it easy and simple to follow the directions, and his demonstration was fun and interactive. Chef was very attentive to his class to make sure everyone was on the right track. Our Pralines were ours to take home after the class. This was such a memorable experience and definitely something to check off our bucket list! Not pictured are the amazing soup mixes, olive oils, dip mixes, and cookware we purchased!

Chef Darin's Kitchen Table is a must visit in Savannah! Whether you are a home chef, an actual chef, a beginner, or somewhere in between he has something for everyone. I loved when I entered the store I was greeted by the owner, Chef Darin. He is personable, helpful, and a kind gentleman. Chef Darin greeted everyone who walked into the store with a smile. And asked them if he could help them or they were looking for something in particular. His love for his work truly shines in his store. Each area of the store is well thought out and neatly organized. It is easy to walk through and to find items that you need or want. Also, discover new items you may not have known even existed! While I was in store I got my knives sharpened. Chef Darin was quick and efficient. My paring knife was $3. And my 8 inch chef's knife was $5 to be sharpened. He sharpens knives every day in store. In 2022, he will be sharpening kitchen shears too! I will be bringing mine in as soon as he is ready. I found a few items in his store that I generally have to order online because they are not carried in the grocery stores here in Savannah. For example: I was happy to find Maldon sea salt! It was appropriately priced as well. When I run out I will be restocking here. I would much rather support local! Chef Darin hosts cooking classes every month. They are posted on his website. His website lists all of the information you will need. He is an excellent chef. His food is scrumptious. I took one of his classes many years ago. I look forward to taking a class in his beautiful new space. It is free to join The Kitchen Club at Chef Darin's Kitchen Table. It is his rewards program. You sign up in store. And you will receive benefits and discounts after a certain amount of purchases. Also if you bring a local friend or out of town guest and they shop you will get credit for their purchases too! There are bathrooms inside the store. They are located past the classrooms, down the hall on the left. When parking it's easiest to park on 42nd street. If you are on Abercorn, turn when you see Parker's. The address listed is 2514 Abercorn St. But the actual location of the store is closer to the corner of 42nd St and Abercorn. Go and visit Chef Darin's Kitchen Table! You won't be disappointed!

    Cooking fried chicken

It is important to know what you're looking for in this class, if you want to know the proper way to hold a knife or crack an egg, this class is for you. If you're looking for a fun evening with friends, I couldn't really recommend it. This was more about technic and Darin's expertise than learning about southern cuisine or the Savannah experience. I found the class interesting but also a little stressful. After 45 years of cooking, the "proper" way to crack an egg was not valuable to me. I took the southern fried cooking class as that was offered when we were visiting. Even in their beautiful, well ventilated kitchen, we smelled strongly of oil when we left, so it isn't something I would ever do at home.

    Chef Darin

What a fun, informative, hands on class. I will definitely be making pralines again. Chef Darin explained the procedure while making a batch. The class was small enough that everyone was tended to and successful. It's great that all of the cooking utensils are sold in his store along with so many handy kitchen gadgets.

Totally Thai, Course 1. Gobbled up Course 2 so no pic!

Its intimate and inviting when you walk inside. Chef Joe and his wife Barbara were warm and greeted us right away. There were 20 people that came tonight, a full house! Chef Joe went around the room and personally introduced himself to each person before the cooking began and tried to get to know each person a little. Sitting at each dinner setting is a menu detailing the night's courses and the recipes for all of them. Make sure to bring a camera to take pictures and a pen to make notes. Chef Joe adds a lot of details as he cooks and gives suggestions on variations of each dish. Tonight was the Dinner Party and our menu consisted of Crab and Corn Chowder, Roasted Rack of Sage Rubbed Pork with Madeira Jus Lie, Hoppin' John, Rustic Macaroni and Cheese, Stewed Okra and Tomatoes, Southern Collard Greens, Hoe Cakes and Peach Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream. I have to add here that I don't care for seafood, anything that has a fishy taste in the slightest is not for me. I was nervous about trying the Crab and Corn Chowder... but it was delicious! I couldn't believe how amazing (and non-fishy) it was especially considering he used a seafood stock to make the base. My mouth waters even thinking about it. It will take too long to go over each dish but each one was sooooo good. My favorites were the Okra, Mac n Cheese, Sage Rubbed Pork and Peach Cobbler. I've never had cobbler so good in my life. I cannot wait to go back for more and I cannot wait to make all these dishes myself. I have a feeling a few of these recipes are going to go into heavy rotation and make appearances at pot lucks, holiday dinners, and parties....

His Price conscious and wants to find the best deal and I just want something that goes with the theme of what I'm remodeling at the time. I have shopped here on two separate occasion. The first was when I was replacing all the floors in my house and we ended up finding a dark espresso wood floor. We were greeted upon arrival and offered assistance multiple times throughout our visit. Most likely they were checking to make sure we weren't going to kill each other. Since we tend to bicker with each other like an old married couple. Lol The second time was recently when I was remodeling my kitchen. We came in for backsplash.... We were greeted again and we reached out to a few different sales clerks on help and prices. My dad from Greece and refuses to purchase anything from Turkey which limited our selection a lot. **insert annoyed eyes** - Location: This store is located off of Victory Drive behind the ihop and Xfinity store and across from Whole Foods. It doesn't have a lot of parking like Lowe's or Home Depot and is quite cramped if ihop is busy. Plus, the spaces are narrow and doesn't give you a lot of space for loading. - Building/Store: Its basically a large warehouse with flooring around the outer left and back walls, backsplash is to the right and along the wall and they have a small clearance selection by the restrooms. And in the middle is a mix of porcelain, glass and marble tiles. It's clean and open. - Service: The staff were helpful and actually seemed to enjoy their job and were happy to be there. Which is always a plus. They were also patient with us while we ended up trying to decide what we needed. - Merchandise: Even if we weren't being picky about where the tile was imported from. They don't have an large selection of different types of tile to pick from. There was more porcelain and ceramic then marble and granite which is what we were looking for. They are also SUPER limited on what they offer for Granite countertops which is why we ended up getting for our tops somewhere else and for cheaper. Overall: It's a decent location if you are looking for a good deal for doing a simple job.

Elizabeth helped us the last time we were in and I am so happy with the selections. I needed some help today. I have to give a shout out to just about everyone that was working today. It's December 30, 2020 and we were in the store around 3:30pm. We had questions and everyone that we spoke with was soooo helpful!!! They have a great staff in the Savannah location. If management reads this post I hope they pass the praise to their staff!!! I wish I had gotten names, but if we spoke to 5 or 6 employees they were all equally pleasant and helpful. It's a pleasure to shop there as compared to Lowe's or Home Depot where you can't find anyone to help you. After this project we will be back to do the guest bathroom. We will be back!!!

And I know that I will never be able to thank Mr. Jarrett G. Maillet enough for taking my DUI case and for keeping me from serving extensive jail time, for saving my driver's license, for keeping me from serving a long probation term, and for preserving my dignity. Mr. Maillet cares about representing DUI cases and is knowledgeable for the defense of DUI cases. After he agreed to representing me, Mr. Maillet walked me through the legal process, and recommended to me the activities I should do prior to my arraignment, all the while keeping my comfort level at a tolerable level. Mr. Maillet personally knows many of the judges and prosecutors in the Savannah and Coastal area which is helpful during the courtroom experience. With Mr. Maillet's outstanding professional legal skills and extensive courtroom experiences I entered the arraignment cautiously concerned, but left with surprisingly and unimaginable results. Mr. Maillet navigated the complexities of my DUI case which ultimately resulted in a much lessor and reduced reckless driving conviction. These results left me almost speechless and so appreciative of Mr. Maillet's work of allowing me to have an opportunity for a fresh start. So we've been looking for a new washer/dryer to go in our new house, and with time running out with the last month of our rental to do laundry in, Kat & I hit the streets looking for a deal on a washer set. At first, we rode around to some of the scratch & dent dealers, but had no real luck finding something that we wanted. Either too worn out or dubious warranties issues. Livingood's was going to be our last stop for the day before we headed back to the drawing board. After we arrived at their location, we walked into a very clean and organized showroom. A staff member promptly greeted us and took us to what we were looking for. They too offer a scratch & dent section in the back of the warehouse. We milled about, checking everything out but couldn't find a dryer that matched a washer. The staff member that was with us ended up showing us some sets on the main showroom floor, and getting the sense that we really didn't want to spend a couple thousand dollars right after buying a house, offered us the floor set at a discounted price. It ended up being perfect, and we're set up for delivery of our brand new set on Tuesday, and have a pretty good warranty to boot! The whole process was painless and it's safe to say the next time we are in the market for an appliance, we will definitely be coming back here.

My wife (Jo) and I had been considering renovating our kitchen and the timing seemed perfect during the COVID shutdowns when we thought we had selected the right vendor to do the job. We decided to meet with KDS who primarily does cabinetry work as they wanted to expand their business into doing full renovations. We met with John and Shawn Thompson at the KDS showroom and then at our house with their staff to discuss the scope of the project. This was a pretty big job with the demolishing of our old kitchen, removing the old tile floors and putting new ones down (in three rooms beside the kitchen), a adding number of new; appliances, cabinets, counter tops, farmers sink, wall tiling, with the corresponding electrical, plumbing, dry wall, interior painting and HVAC work to make it all happen! Once we met with the team we were reassured that they had dependable contractors they had used and would be using them for the project. We decided as well to pay for the services of Shawn (John's wife) as the project manager (she also did interior design as well!) to ensure that we would have scheduling and accountability for the work. Shaw developed the schedule and John worked up the cost of the complete project. We were given a 4-6 week projection for the work, but Shawn said she was going to target for three and half weeks! I have extensive project management experience and it looked tight with everything having to go right to do that (which is normally not the case...), but knowing that we agreed on the project with a last minute change being added by us when we decided to move a small wall to enlarge a closet as part of the project (not usually a good idea to make last minute changes...). They hit the ground running with a well coordinated team that worked well together. We had a functioning fully renovated kitchen in FOUR weeks with a larger pantry closet, except for some punch list items that took a little while longer to knock out. The results were spectacular and we are thrilled with the quality of their work and the timeless of the project! We full heartily recommend Kitchen Design Solutions as the attached pictures show the quality of their work!
