Thanks to Thumbtack, we stumbled upon this incredible human being. Since we preplanned with our Chef well in advance, we formed a great relationship with Chef DeAndre over time. There were a few hiccups regarding delayed communication, however, Chef did mention that was because he was going through a business expansion phase at the time. He was still professional and was very transparent during his shift in business. SCAM - I'm saddened to express HOW DISAPPOINTED I am with d'andres food. He cooked for Thanksgiving and the food was at best sub par. We paid $1500 and the food was atrocious. he and his cousin were great when we met them, he has not been rude to us either. Had an absolutely wonderful experience with Chef D'Andre. I asked him to cater a brunch for about 10 people in Chicago - when I live on the East Coast. For starters, I asked for a fairly limited menu - vegan, gluten-free, citrus-free and nut free. We communicated a lot and he put together a fantastic menu. He was able to set up with just photos/ videos of the AirBnB. He and his other chef came in and made some of the most amazing food. Some of my guests were not vegan, but everyone is asking for his frittata recipe. I hired D'Andre Miller to cater for my Thanksgiving dinner. It was expensive, but I wanted good food and time to interact with my guests. A mix of meat and vegetarian dishes were required due to my guests' diets. I ordered eggplant parmesan and received chicken and ham instead and string bean almondine and was replaced by greens with ham hocks. A mashed sweet potato dish was replaced with another form of sweet potatoes. Literally, all ten of us were unhappy with the meal. When I communicated with Chef D'Andre about the meal, he suggested compensation via another meal. I am disinterested in eating another meal due to the first experience. I was, also, reluctant to write this review, but I would feel remiss in not doing so. Lack of action on my part might cause others to suffer a similar fate. read more

I called Chef D'Andre about a week and a half before a birthday party I was throwing for my wife and about 40-50 guests of various ages. At this point, I had not decided how to cater the event and was leaning towards making a large catering order. But I knew that I wanted to make the birthday special. When I came across Chef D'Andre's Yelp page, I had a feeling this might be the right option and I reached out for a quote, realizing that it may be far too late to book him but with little downside to talking with him. He was very responsive and we hopped on a phone call a short time later. He explained that he had been booked for the date in question until his expected client cancelled - the day before I called him. Overall, I got a very good vibe from D'Andre and it felt like it was meant to be for the party. I booked him immediately. A few days before the event, he was able to accommodate a suggested change to the menu to swap in jerk chicken lollipops for curry chicken lollipops. The new lollipops were a big hit and I appreciated his flexibility. His red snapper was another big hit with no leftovers to be found. He even made new potatoes into a simple but delicious dish. If there was anything to "warn" readers of this review about, I would mention that it is not inexpensive to book Chef D'Andre. But, as with so many things in life, you what you pay for. Chef D'Andre is worth every dollar. Along with his two colleagues, they did an excellent and professional job setting up, cooking, and then cleaning up after themselves. He catered a work party for 30 people. He talked me through the menu, drinks, and overall flow of event. He's a professional so had many suggestions, but was also helpful in accommodating my needs and concerns. The event itself was a big hit! Food and drink were excellent, but mostly the overall from start to finish guests felt comfortable, well fed, and well taken care of. I noticed midday through that one of his helpers hadn't arrived. But frankly the event didn't miss a beat and no one else noticed anything was amiss. 100% honest review: Last month I had chef D'Andre booked for a dinner party. Initially, when I booked him, he was very communicative, friendly, and consistent on check-ins with me, which is part of the reason I ended up booking him. After booking, his communication turned spotty.. and because of his lack of communication we didn't end up finalizing the menu until the week of, which caused me a bit of stress amongst everything else I needed to do to prepare for the party. The day of the party, he had an assistant chef come to our house that reeked of strong marijuana!! The smell was so strong it stunk up my entire house. My significant other and I were appalled and honestly didn't know what to do or say, it was super uncomfortable!! We ended up calling D'andre regarding our frustration and the unprofessionalism of his employee. He was apologetic and appalled. He stated he can have them change and that he would comp us a free meal at a later time. We honestly just wanted to cancel altogether but seeing as though we already paid, we decided to extend grace and continue with the event. They ended up coming back without the smell of marijuana but the unprofessionalism of the situation tainted the experience and my decision of booking with him. Regarding the food, there really wasn't a lot of cooking going on.. more of them putting already prepared food together on our plates and putting garlic bread in the oven. I will say the food was flavorful and had a nice taste however, the pasta was served cold to room temperature. After we told them, they did apologize and offered to warm up our plates in the microwave. However that was a little disappointing at a dinner party putting plates in the microwave one by one, when we hired a private chef that was supposed to cook our meal... We were lucky enough to have Chef D'Andre and his team prepare food for our Parish Mardi Gras Party. He served 128 attendees his extraordinary Creole and Cajun dishes. Everybody was full when they left and we provided to go boxes with the extra food he prepared. Every single dish was raved about by the parishioners. Beginning with the Shrimp Po'Boy Sliders, to the Chicken Jambalaya. Everyone was crazy about the food and it's presentation. The Craw fish deviled eggs looked amazing and tasted like something not of this world. Creole shrimp stuffed mushrooms and Cajun butter steak slices had everyone in some kind of food drunk. Chef D'Andre explained every dish and went to every table to talk to all in attendance. I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite and I tried everything. Our daughter lives in Europe and there is a 7-hour time difference, but D'Andre was very flexible and helpful in finding times for Zoom calls with her to plan the wedding. Chef D'Andre was not able to produce the proper licensure and instead of returning our money so that we could hire a caterer with the proper licensure he decided to not be apart of a rational solution but catered a private fight party at night instead. My guest flew in from NYC, Oregon, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Alabama, California and other places. My fiancé was heart broken. She worked so hard at planning this event, reaching out to the Chef every step of the way. She tried to be intentional about doing business with an inclusive lens. I was embarrassed and let down.
