I've held off for too long - our daughter's wedding celebration for 175 people at the Tennessee State Museum was held in September, 2023. About a year in advance, we met with Chef Rima, she helped us craft a terrific plated dinner with options for our guests - we attended a tasting and were delighted with the menu and the food was delicious. However, at every step leading up to our event, the Taste of Perfection team's poor communication and inability to respond to questions with clear responses made the lead up to the event stressful and led to avoidable complications the night of the event that left my family angry and disappointed. Having spent over $25,000 on catering and staff for this event (including $1,300 of additional charges for 'responding to emails' - emails initiated by me and our wedding planner to share updates and secure clarification of catering needs), I had high expectations for a terrific, flawless catering service. In fact, my 175 guests were not served the meal we were expecting - the salmon was cold, dry and undercooked, the green beans were watery, the roasted potatoes were cold. The Taste of Perfection team did not have adequate working equipment to prepare meals for my guests and vendors in a timely manner. Their lack of preparation and poor communication made it impossible for our wedding planner and the staff at the Tennessee State Museum to anticipate their needs and problem solve effectively prior to and during the event. Despite having a detailed schedule prepared by our wedding planner a month before the event, the catering team was not ready to serve dinner at the designated time - the band left the stage and announced that dinner would be served and over an hour later many guests were still not served - including my husband and me. The vendors also were not served in a timely manner - our wedding planner ordered pizzas for our vendors so they could return to the stage. In sum, our experience with Taste of Perfection was a disaster. Their inability to communicate effectively with me, my wedding planner, and the venue staff to ensure that our event ran smoothly; their lack of providing the proper equipment to successfully prepare a meal for a large event; and their failure to prepare and serve the food as promised in a timely manner for our guests and our vendors, were beyond disappointing. I would not recommend hiring Taste of Perfection catering service.

Background: our best friends were about to move across country (9 hours is cross country, right?!) and we had planned one last swanky evening out before their departure. Until my bestie called and said she had a better idea. She would invite someone into our home to cook for us. In our kitchen, In our home. Just for us. A stranger. I was a little wierded out at first, I can't lie. I was told this was the kind of thing The Real Housewives do and okay, yes, I'm a little embarrassed to say this convinced me. So my bestie and I made a deal: she'd pay for the meal if we bought the drinks. Signed sealed delivered, count me in! Preparation: We were asked for any allergies or foods that were off limits. Then I was sent a recommendation list for drinks and was given total freedom on how closely to follow the beverage suggestions. There was one suggestion for almost every course. They were great suggestions but since there were only four of us, and our husbands would be just as happy drinking Coors all night, we only opted for about half the suggestions. Once that was accomplished I decided to channel my inner Sandra Lee and opted for a special table setting. I didn't splurge on anything but made it feel like a special night around a table we've sat at numerous nights talking and playing games. It's the same table we sat at when they announced they'd be moving cross country and we all cried as I held their son in my arms while he slept. I had to go above and beyond for them, for us, for this last BIG memory we'd all share. (I hear you, enough with the sappy post...move on, sister! Okay, fine, but one more thing...I printed up menus to commemorate this evening. We felt like we were in the presence of celebrities and asked them to sign our menus. We totally fan girled.) The Night Of: The Unicorn (and his sidekick...leprechaun?) arrive with all their cooking equipment, food, and supplies ready to go. They make themselves at home in a respectful way and go to town on our 7 course dinner. Honestly, it's a little awkward at first. We don't know them. They don't know us. Yet, we've invited them in our home and requested everyone act like this is a totally normal and natural thing. It definitely got there, but just took a minute for everyone to warm up. The dinner: The four of us were chatting in the family room when they started delivering little bite-sized deliciousness. Ashed biscuits, salmon croquettes. We each got one of each, and wide-eyed look at each other and knew this experience was already worth it. Then they brought another round and another round and we were off to an incredible start. We moved on to the Poke, then the scallop. My husband is a hesitant adventurous eater and ate it all up. We knew this would be a problem and boy was it... PACE YOURSELVES! We did no such thing and ate it all. We turned nothing down, tried everything and got too full. When the food is of this caliber, you just barrel down. The heavier courses were just as incredible with inventive twists on the classics. It was a nice crescendo to finish out the masterpiece called "DINNER". It was a long process that we savored every second of. We offered the Unicorn (and his leprechaun) a drink afterwords to talk restaurants, food, recipes, etc. These two left as friends and we had a shared experience that will remain in our memories forever. They cleaned up after themselves and we hugged goodbye. Strangers, just a few hours earlier, had become friends. Side note: I have no clue how much this meal cost. Nor, do I care. It was an incredible meal that was equally about the time together, a unique experience, and delicious food. I would recommend this dinner over and over and over again. Similar to an actual unicorn, this Unicorn creates a unique, one-of-a-kind experience that's hard to find.

I recognize there are some healthcare professionals that pursue the career path because of a desire to help others and earn a decent living doing what they love. Of course, there are the others like Dr. Hill Ferguson who should NEVER have pursued a career in healthcare when she obviously isn't remotely interested in the action verb of, CARING! To use the title "Dr" or "D.D.S"within the same sentence with the name Hill Ferguson should be considered a criminal act of treason. Outside of the act of pulling teeth without prior consent because "it was loose." Knicking gums to the point an infection caused over a months hospital stay, and topping all of the turmoil off with an arrogant, apathetic, gaslighting and dismissive attitude speaks a lot more to the true character of the individual than any title can ever show. Educational institutions can only teach a subject but not an emotion such as empathy or benevolence. There are many well educated sociopaths in the world masquerading as caring individuals in the healthcare industry. Additionally, we should be cautious of boasting the services of procedural sedation, which isn't a positive if it removes the rights of the patient to be asked and to give their consent. And, removing the rights of mentally challenged patients to be accompanied by family or assistants to their dental treatment is like sending a defenseless child alone to a predator physician and JUST HOPING she's not inappropriately touched while she's sedated and having teeth pulled without consent. Two important words to instill to all ages, reciprocity and Karma. These are real words with real respectability. These are not words that should only exist in the psychological.
