The atmosphere, food and service from our waitress were all fantastic. I would absolutely give 5 stars to all of the things that I listed above. The management is why I'm bringing this rating down to 3 stars. The person in charge was probably the worst micro manager that I have ever seen. We were perfectly happy eating dinner and she made us all get up to move the table only a couple of feet for what she described as "better traffic flow". She then held up our waitress for several minutes while we were waiting for our check. I asked our waitress if all was ok, and she said that the manager was talking to her about being a bartender. Cooks and waitstaff, excellent job. Manager, leave your customers alone if they're happily dining and let your staff do their job instead of chatting with them while they should be paying attention to their customers. read more

My first time here and it was not at all what I was expecting, haha. My girlfriend had been there before and she said it was good - she was right! It reminds me of a place I used to called Frontier Pies. It was kind of western looking, LOTS of wood. Seemed to be an older crowd - but that could have been related to the time, early dinner 4:30 on a Friday. We sat at the bar and must have gotten there right at shift change, we had a couple different people waiting on us. No big deal because they were both incredibly friendly and took great care of us. I drove by and noticed their new sign. Lunch Buffett. So I stopped in for lunch. I asked if the buffet was still going and apparently it's not on Saturday. So I ordered the large burrito. The burrito was awful. The meat is low quality. The burrito sauce is terrible. The cheese is low quality. The side of onions was good The water is disgustingly chlorine flavored. I couldn't drink it. 17$ for. Large burrito that was not large at all is not worth it. read more

4 of us Stopped in for dinner, there special was tacos. 3 tacos, rice, beans, everything was dry like warm, the beans was dry, tacos had no flavor. Was not worth our time to complain and wait for another meal. Highly recommend to avoid this special. read more

We had a great waitress and her service was top notch. The menu is full of options and the prices are good. I ordered liver and onions. I specifically asked for plenty of onions. When she brought it to the table she acknowledged that it wasn't a lot of onion. She asked them for more and I got more that were just steamed on the grill. Onions are to be cooked with the liver so I didn't expect much either. They were busy but it didn't take long to get our food. I'll stop back but I won't be ordering liver again. If you want a good, hot meal, served in a friendly atmosphere, with pleasant background music, DON'T STOP AT CHEERS on Plainfield on either Friday or Saturday nights! Karaoke nights. Don't get me wrong, because I LOVE Karaoke. We were met at the door by a clean, cute girl with black hair. Dour, disinterested, and disinclined to even try to look like she was doing anything other than doing us a favor by taking us to a booth. We've had the misfortune of making her acquaintance on several occasions. The food is served in decent quantities, but usually tastes canned, congealed, and cold. The balance of the waitstaff is really nice. Friendly, active and they do the best they can. The worst part is the karaoke. Last time they had over 25 singers, of which approximately four of them were pleasant and entertaining. There is an unfortunate long table of regulars who screech into the microphone, rendering mumbled monotone stanzas of completely unrecognizable songs, followed by those minions of mediocrity congratulating each other on how well they did. Ugh. Throughout this cacophony, the mic was handed to shrill, giggling children who sang flat words to songs they were hopefully too young to understand while their parental units video recorded them in obvious ecstasy. It would be more entertaining to listen to a recording of severely asthmatic dolphins. If you love good food and pleasant music, find someplace else to go. read more

My grandma and I love to come out to lunch here often and play some Keno. The staff is very nice and mostly efficient to the best of their ability, and the food (primarily their lunch specials) is great. We will definitely be back again soon!! The only thing I'd say to improve is how most recently, there has been a lack of efficiency when it comes to taking customers' orders and checking in with them. For example, during the lunch hours, and the restaurant wasn't that busy. My grandma and I waited for 15 minutes before our drink orders were even taken, and then another 10 minutes until we could place our food order. Upon placing our food order, we did not see our waitress for another 15 minutes until our food was prepared and then another 20 in order to receive our bill. It is still a great place to eat, but maybe this was just a bad time! read more

My husband and I hit this location for an impromptu date night and we had a wonderful time. The facilities are clean for the most part, I give the 4/5 for this as the bathroom could've used a little TLC. Service receives 5 stars, food also receives 5 stars as well since on the bar scale, it was awesome! We had a great time at karaoke with a great crowd of people, so we give 5 stars for entertainment, and 5 for ambiance. This brings this location 5/5 stars on the bar scale! read more

Stopped in to Cheers for breakfast one weekend and was really surprised at how huge this place is. They have a large patio that wasn't open yet but looked nice. There is also a side porch area with some covered tables that would probably be really fun in the summer. We were seated right away and it was pretty busy on a Sunday around 10. The interior is retro but in a fun way, with stained glass light fixtures, lots of cozy booth seating, and plenty of TVs. I ordered the Cheers skillet, which is a bunch of meat and cheese over hash browns or American fries, topped with eggs. I love that you can specify your potato preference, as it's listed on the menu with American fries but I always prefer to get skillets on hash browns. My boyfriend ordered the classic breakfast plate with meat, toast, potato, and two eggs. After we ordered, I noticed the drink specials - mimosas, bloody Marys and screwdrivers for $3.85! They have all day happy hour on Sunday. We both ordered a mimosa and they were huge! Not a ton of booze, but for $3.85 you could order a few if you wanted. Our food came out quickly and was what I expected - delicious and a little greasy (but not too greasy!). This place is on par with my other favorite greasy spoon breakfast place (Grand Coney), if not better with the addition of a full bar. The ambiance reminds me of a large cabin on a lake. Just here there's no lake and it's restaurant. I ordered the Goulash. The whole reason I came is because I heard they had goulash. That being said the goulash reminded me of Bud & Stanley's goulash. Is that a good thing? Depends they were both good, they just weren't great. I was here for lunch so for the heck of it I ordered the Meatloaf to go for dinner that night. The Meatloaf was also good and also not great. However to give it the benefit of doubt it was reheated so fresh it might have been even better. It looks like most of the dinners cost $11. The services good and friendly. Not outstanding but very good. Overall I give 3 1/2 stars. I'm rounding up for benefit of doubt. Would I come here again? I went to Cheers last night with some friends for trivia, food and drinks. Let's begin by saying this was my first time out here and it did not impress nor thoroughly disappoint me. Very mediocre place. A pub/sports bar feel in the bar area and a tacky restaurant vibe in the back. I was shocked to hear they did not carry Ketel One or Belverdere. I settled for Grey Goose. The price of the Goose was very reasonable- cheap even! That softened the blow a bit. Our waitress was pretty attentive and checked in on us a lot. My friend ordered a margarita with Patron Silver and Grand Mariner. It was bad and she switched to beer after that. The menu was a wide variety of different deep fried foods. All below average tasting and lacking any real flavor or texture. I did enjoy the potato skins but the description was misleading. They are regular cheesy skins- not "stuffed" as the menu incorrectly stated. Overall I would potentially give Cheers another chance- we did win 2nd place and $20 in trivia after all. But I definitely will be eating dinner prior to my next visit. read more

We ordered a single item for carry-out: goulash. Place seemed fine, and the food was fine, but nothing special. The goulash wasn't soupy, it was basically a decent homemade spaghetti type deal, including some very mediocre garlic bread stuff. It really was spaghetti-flavored -- no interesting flavors, no sausage or spices or potatoes or vegetables or anything added. So...good homemade spaghetti, that's all. And it was sitting there at the counter, not under a heat lamp or anything, waiting for us, cooling off while we made our way to the restaurant. So, I dunno, maybe other dishes and other situations would get this place a better rating. For now, 3 stars, and I wouldn't bother bringing anyone here unless Grandma was looking for a homey, inoffensive meal while in town. It's not bad. read more

My church group of 10 gathered last week at Cheers for lunch. The menu is vast and a little overwhelming! They have a good small menu of $6.99 items: meatloaf dinner, pulled pork sandwich, stir fry over rice, a chicken wrap and a mini wet burrito. All were delicious according to the group! Went to cheers tonight for a little Team Trivia. So they do trivia every Sunday from 7-9. I had a beer and their spinach artichoke dip which was pretty tasty. I wouldn't say their food is out of this world, but it is a typical American restaurant. The location is nice because it's easy to get to with lots of parking available. SKIP IT!!! This WAS, once-upon-a-time, a pretty excellent place to eat, to hang out. The folks who continue to go are doing so out of some misplaced sense of loyalty. It was the same for us for the longest time. We just kept hoping management would "get it," and fix it. Neither has happened. This review will be an average of all the times I have been to Cheers. I have literally been there at least 20 times. Let's start with Monday's. They have a buy one get one free wet burrito. Not my favorite sauce, but they are good. On Tuesday's they have all you can eat fish. I'm not a big fish eater, but I do like it here. I have it over fried a time or two, but I have not tasted a piece that had a dirty taste to it at all. I have had their chips and cheese deluxe. My suggestion is to get a half order unless you want to take some home or have a big group with you. HUGE portion here. Very tasty. Seasoned meat with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and black olives. Last night I had the hot roast beef sandwich. Not the greatest in my opinion. It was good enough to eat, but I will not order it again. My wife ordered the shrimp basket and loved it. The coleslaw they have is really good if you like yours a little tangy. Not a sweet one for sure, but not to tart that it makes you pucker. Now my biggest pet peeve that I have for this place is rather stupid, but I hate 3 prong forks and that is what they have there. Yeah I know, stupid pet peeve huh? Now they have a surf and turf special on Thursday's. Steak and shrimp. Guess I'll have to let you know how that one goes. This place is our favorite place for breakfast. I always get the "It's a jungle" breakfast because it comes with three eggs instead of two. I never have enough yolk to get through my breakfast with only two eggs. The eggs are always cooked perfect. My wife and I have split an order of Biscuits and gravy a few times and it tastes homemade. The service is always good and so are their prices. read more

We sat outside by request. It was a beautiful 86 degree day. I ordered ice tea and requested Splenda. After the waitress dropped of my friends beers, I had to ask her two more times for Splenda. Waited another 5 minutes for her to bring it to the table. The waitress dropped off another drink to our table which we didn't order, and then came back a minute later and grabbed it and gave it to another able, which is that allowable? Mind you during COVID season. Our food took awhile to come out. My tea was empty for quite some time. Just had dinner here for the first time. Everything was amazing. Our server Tracey was extremely friendly and attentive. Tracey never missed a beat even though she had a busy section. I've worked in the service industry for 10+ years and I'm always watching what's going on around me when I go out. The whole staff seemed to be hustling and helping each other. I live in South Dakota and I was visiting family I hadn't seen in two years. We were going out for dinner and stopped here. We walked in and asked a waitress if there was a wait and she told us that we could actually seat ourselves. So we took our seats out on the patio. There was four or five other couples or families being helped by a single waitress. We sat there for 20 minutes. No one acknowledged us, no one came and asked us if we had been helped, and no one had asked up how we were doing. This was the WORST service I have ever received. I would not recommend this place to anyone in the state or traveling from out of state. Came here for karaoke Friday night. They didn't have my go-to song I've perfected- Gin and Juice, so did Gangstas Paradise. Other than the limited rap selection, this place was pretty cool. Reasonably priced drinks, good service. I felt like the people there were karaoke regulars, but they were fun and supportive of our not to musically inclined group. Wow. Where do I start? The ONLY reason this place got a second star is due to the nice manager. We stopped in to Cheers for drinks and dinner while my car was having brakes put on and before I had to head to DJ. My pal that was fixing my car told me about an hour and he'd be back. Perfect. We ordered some wings to start and probably should have ordered our meals before we even sat down. The wings were good. They were spicy. That means one thing: I need more beer. Well, 15 minutes goes by with me and an empty glass and my mouthal region on fire. I didn't even have water to throw in my face. No celery left on the table, no ranch to snort, no nothing! Good God help me! Well, finally she comes back to ask if I want another beer and if we were ready to order our meals. YEP! YEP!!! YEPP!!!!!!!! I'm pissed just writing this damn review!
