The grounds for sites and pool were ok which is the reason the rating is a 2. The person who greeted when we arrived was polite. However the bathrooms with showers were not good. They were very very outdated. There were urinals blocked off. There were ants, spiders, frogs, and lots of stink bugs. The stink bugs were in the ceiling lights and on the floor and sink. The showers were not good and hard to adjust the temp so it was either extremely hot or cold. The water was very "hard" water. The only positive would be they did use good toilet paper. I cannot recommend this campground due to the bathrooms. There were nice grass sites for the camper. A large number of permanent sites on the hill which looked downhill on the other sites felt very odd. read more

I made reservations for 2 nights. I had a family emergency and changed the date. In the end I was unable to make the trip because of the family emergency and requested a refund based on their refund policy. Although I have them TEN DAYS NOTICE, they refused my refund. I am not happy and plan on filing a request for refund with my credit card company. Buyer just beware. They do NOT honor their refund policy! read more

When it was found that a pesticide of some kind was dumped around my son's porch and fire pit. Despite it being deadly to animals. it was brought to the woman who runs the campground attention, she didn't offer any condolences or sympathy. Oh no no! She actually had a smirk on her face. We have been road tripping across the USA and this is by far the worse kept campground. The bathrooms were a throwback to the 70s and reeked of mildew and rust in the toilets and sinks. Despite requesting in my reservation to be next to the bathroom for convenience, we opted to skip the showers and to use our potty loo instead. Were happy to leave the campsite bright and early the next day. Sticking to KOA campsites from now on! read more

Rented cabin 109 and Found bed bugs!!! We had babies with us and where told we where first the renters of the season these bugs where in all sizes so I'd assume they have been there a while they looked well fed... and that they are sorry you could tell that there was no Maintenance checks before charging and renting out the room. Where we are camped we keep smelling sewer depending on the direction of the breeze. The sand box is dirt with a 20 yr old sit on bucket in the middle.The bathrooms are old and mildewy with light bulbs out. The pool is not properly maintained . Three dead frogs today. They tried to use m esh colander to get them I stead of a pool net. Pool deck not swept, no chairs, and lots of debris floating. I had to clean out the fire pit and it filled half a trash bag. read more

Cheerful Valley lives up to its name, exemplary service!! What a great experience! On our first long distance voyage in our new Navion Winnebago my husband and I were out of water, out of propane and in need of a dump station. After several phone calls and google searches we came upon the information for Cheerful Valley Campground and quickly found our salvation! The owner was so helpful, got us in out and back on the road quickly. Did I mention this was a Sunday- and Father's Day at that! Thank you so much for helping us on our way!! My brother, his gf, and my bf (#109) and my brothers friends in the other cabin just stayed here for two nights and I woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom @4 AM. My brother woke up shortly after and picked up a bug with a napkin. I asked him "Jordan what did you just find" hoping it wasn't what I thought it was and of course, bed bugs. We brought this issue up to the front desk people over the phone and they practically brushed it off saying "we sweep and mop every week" and almost trying to pin it on us saying "the exterminators were there right before you guys" which can't be true, and even if they did, they didn't think about the wall crevices. Everybody knows they hide in tight little spaces. My brother and his girlfriend have welts on their body and one of the other guys in the other cabin too. We run over to cabin #2 where our friends slept and as soon as we walk in to tell them I turn the light on and there was a bed bug crawling right where our friend had just woke up from. I am absolutely disgusted and very disappointed because I came here a few times years ago in a tent and I had a lot of fun. I will never be coming here again and I will be telling my family and friends about this too. I can't believe the lack of care from the lady over the phone. She even tried to say they clean under the mattresses but there was a chip, keys, and some Lego block under my mattress the first day before we even knew about the bugs. Not to mention the old decayed crusty bodies of the old ones that died a while ago. You can tell they were there a long time. We found babies adults and carcasses. They have a whole society in there. Clearly the "exterminators" don't know what they're doing or where these bugs find hiding spots. You miss ONE OR TWO BED BUGS THEY WILL MATE. I do not mess around with this!! All of our blankets are laying outside currently while we wait for our ride to come and we deal with this at home too. My brother and his gf have their car but they're waiting with us. My whole vacation is ruined and now we have to go home and deal with what Cheerful Valley Campground did not. Very upset. read more

I have camped since I was about 5 years old... and this is one of my favorite places ever. Family owned and operated. Very nice people. Great campsites and fast response if there are any issues. Love the pool and the bounce pad. They have lots of themed weekends with great activities for kids ( Santa comes on Christmas in July weekend) and adults (including pig roasts and wine tastings). Great place for a weekend or the entire summer season. read more

We have been disappointed in this campground. When entering this campground seems to be run down. We tried to buy propane but we're unable because there was no one available to fill up the tank. I tried to take my 9 year old daughter and her friend to the pool but they would not open it because they did not have anyone CPR certified on staff. We have been here for three days and have yet to be able to swim. Very disappointed in the campground. read more

I had reserved a campsite and a day later had to cancel. I called and they were SUPER nice on the phone stating a full refund would be issued and they hoped I would see them next season. The refund was never issued. A month went by, emails and phone calls went unanswered. Finally they responded in a nasty email saying this was the owner of their website's responsibility (CONY) and not their policy to refund. Very poor customer service. And this message should have been relayed during my first conversation with them, not outright lying that a refund would be processed. read more

We stayed for a quick overnight, last night. The gentleman on the phone and in the office was very nice and pleasant. The lawn at the site was beautiful. However, the water out of the spicket, at your site, tastes bad, and we could not drink. But the bathrooms and showers were pretty disgusting! The metal frame of the dropped ceiling was corroded and rusty, bathrooms VERY dirty, smelled musty, some of the toilets so badly rusted, you would not want to use them. I gave it a two star based on the size of the site, and the nice green lawn, if it hadn't been for that it would have been zero. Due to the conditions of the bathrooms, I would not return or recommend to anyone. I wish I had saved my $45 and slept in the Walmart parking lot. Pretty disappointing read more

I've been camping for 20+ years. From the private campgrounds I've been to, this one was really really good. I had site 67 . The site had a slight hill, but did have a level area for the tent. I thought I had an issue with the electric and the owner wasted no time to come take a look. He was nice and all the staff was great. The bathrooms were ok. Cant say they were clean because it was very run down in there with old floors and tiny toilet seats for my fat butt. I would camp there again. read more

From the moment we pulled in we knew the trip was doomed. We get to our back in site to find that the hook ups were on the wrong side. We had to turn around and pull in instead which will be fun when we try to leave. They claim to have clean, modern restrooms is a lie. The bathrooms are falling apart and super outdated and smell so bad that there is no way I would ever shower in them. Thankfully we have a shower in our travel trailer. Our power keeps tripping the main breaker. They claim it's a 30 amp site yet we can't use more than 1 thing at a time. Their solution is for us to run our water heater on propane instead of electric at our expense. We reserved our site for a week and they didn't even mow before we came so we have way overgrown grass. For the rate they charge this place is definitely not worth it. We take our trip all over and this is by far the worst place we've ever stayed. read more

We stayed in a cottage on these grounds twice this summer and will NEVER stay again. The first time the bathroom was disgusting. There was curly body hair everywhere and literally poop splattered on the underside of the toilet. At first I figured that maybe they forgot to clean it, realized that I was camping and took a deep breath before cleaning it myself. I should have complained right away, but silly me was so excited to see the rest of our family who were camping there. Thankfully I brought cleaning supplies. All weekend...NO HOT WATER!!! That is the only reason why we wanted to stay in the cottage was to have access to a bathroom. Since it costs more than a stay at the local Holiday Inn per night, at the very least we expect hot water. Heck, the hotel also provides a clean bathroom and linens. Hot water should not be too much to ask. Prior to leaving that stay we informed the owners of the property directly. When we came back for a second stay, assuming that there was no way they would not check to see if the place was clean and the water was hot, we were hopeful to have a good experience. When checking in we asked both of the owners if there was hot water and if the place was clean and ready to go. They assured us that it was. GUESS WHAT???? Dirty again! If wish that I would have taken pictures of the body hair everywhere. Again, my fault for not going back to the owners and having them clean it. Not sure that would have helped considering that they seem to care less about the condition of their amenities, since as we were told several times, "they sell out every weekend." Thankfully this time I brought cleaning products AND GLOVES. The next day we informed the owner, Carl, that only one shower was kinda warm and the others could not shower for the day in the cottage due to freezing cold water. He shrugged...yes shrugged and said to keep him posted. As we were packing up, preparing to shower, get dressed and leave my father-in-law contacted the owner again to say that the water was still freezing. The owner literally stated that we should have told him sooner. Well two weeks in advance and halfway during the stay were obviously not soon enough for this guy. He had ample time to remedy this situation, offer compensation or suggest that we stay in another cottage. He literally said that the week prior girl scouts stayed in that cabin and did not complain. Well of course not! Do you think any leader would wait for a cabin of girls to shower one at a time? No, she would have them go to the communal showers and get it done all at once. NEVER AGAIN will I ever stay. I should not be expected to use a communal shower if I want to have even slightly warm water. Do yourself a favor, stay at the Holiday Inn fifteen minutes from the camp for $20 less a day, enjoy hot water, enjoy cleanliness and if you still desire to enjoy the grounds pay the $5 a day to do so or camp directly on the ground in a tent. Even that would have been cleaner!! Also the wi-fi, if that is what you want to call it, does not work. read more
