What a fantastic night at Cheen-Huaye! I was honored to be part of the first tequila paring foodie event. Service was incredible and the chef did an amazing job with the pairing and dishes. The ambiance with the guest was fantastic.

Let me preface my review by disclosing that I really dislike Mexican food. Mexican people are lovely, the beaches are beautiful and Mexico City is one of my favorite cities. Mexican food, on the other hand, is probably my least favorite cuisine. I will eat it only under duress. Last night presented duress. We were trying to get to the Home Depot on 163rd and the traffic was so horrendous, we ended up wedged into a turn lane on Biscayne Boulevard. The best option was to pull into the strip mall where Cheen-Huaye is located and have dinner while waiting for the traffic to die down. Eating here would not be my first choice, or my second choice, or anything other than my last choice, and last night was a last choice kind of evening. That said, there is plenty of free parking in front (although I swear that every other motorist in the lot was drunk or high or both) and the interior of the restaurant is so cute and welcoming! The service was also perfect! We were seated right away and brought menus and water. The menu is small. They have a great selection of tequilas and mezcals, although we were not imbibing last night. We were offered chips and salsa but declined them. I liked that they don't automatically bring them to the table so you stuff your face while waiting for the food. We ordered the shrimp tacos and veggie quesadilla. The tacos came with a black bean puree instead of black beans. I dislike black beans and yet the puree was absolutely delicious! The shrimp were large and nestled inside of a corn tortilla. Yuck on the corn tortilla, but that's my personal preference; I think they taste like feet. The quesadilla (flour tortilla, thankfully!) had a good amount of veggies and a mild melty cheese. I am not a big cheese eater and I find cheddar and jack cheeses to be the most offensive members of the cheese family, so I liked that the cheese here was more of a texture than a flavor. The pico de gallo that came on the side was fantastic. I gave the sour cream that came with it (another big yuck) to Larry. The food was prepared well and very fresh, even though it's not to my liking. I think if someone likes Mexican food, this place is a slam dunk!

The service is always wonderful and welcoming. The food is consistently delicious along with great value for the price. My only complaint is that they aren't close enough to my house.

    Delicious and so fresh Cerviche!

We have my daughter visiting from NYC for the holidays and decided to try a Mexican restaurant that we've been wanting to try for a year or so. We found the perfect occasion to go to this restaurant, as my daughter is a huge fan of Mexican cuisine. Our family, being originally from Los Angeles, our family was very accustomed to great Mexican food. Although we've been very apprehensive about trying true Mexican cuisine in Miami, we weren't deterred by our past experiences here. We've tried quite a few different restaurants for tacos, burritos, etc. and have been pretty much underwhelmed by the quality and taste of the Mexican cuisine here in Miami. Whereas, other Latin foods are well represented (Brazilian, Peruvian, Puerto Rican, etc) but not authentic Mexican cuisine. Upon entering Chen-Huaye, we were warmly greeted and seated immediately (we were very early for dinner, arriving around 5pm). Seared immediately and offered drinks and appetizers. We ordered a serving of guacamole with chips and salsa. Please note: all sauces and the guacamole were made fresh. We also ordered the tortilla soup (so unique and quite delicious!) Everything was delicious and very nicely portioned. The waitress quickly refilled our chips and salsa, which was very appreciated. I forgot to mention, our waitress was so very pleasant, smiling and was so very hospitable and friendly, which was very welcomed. For our mains: an order of one of the most popular skirt steak items (sorry that I can't remember the name, but I guarantee that you'll love it. Also cooked a perfect medium rare as ordered), an order of chicken Floutas and an order of Seafood Cerviche. Can't say enough how fresh and tasty everything was, including the house made habanero sauce! Lots of tasty delectable heat with a smoky finish! Simply put, exquisite, especially if you are looking for something that adds a beautiful spicy heat to your dish. Flavors are very authentic Mexican flavors (with only a small American influence) , very fresh taste and oh so flavorful. All in all, a truly wonderful experience and need I say, we will be back. Lastly, prices are very affordable and well worth it, as is the top notch friendly service! Thank you Chen-Hauye for a wonderful experience with some amazing food!

Four of us went here for an early dinner on Sunday on recommendation. We looked at the menu, and the prices were a little higher than average, but not too bad. They brought us some salsa and tortilla chips. The salsa was really good, but after the four of us finished it, our server did not come by to ask if we wanted some more. We waited for a while too. At one point when the server came by, we asked but we were brought chips but no salsa. My friend had to go to the counter to get some. When we were served our entrees they got one of my friend's order wrong, and mine didn't come out. We both had to wait about 5 minutes. The worst part of that was that no one explained or said anything. I should also say that the place was not crowded at all. I ordered fish tacos that came with refried beans. The refried beans were delicious, but it was a small portion. The fish tacos were kind of dry. They needed some more sauce. The other people at the table enjoyed their meals. While the place was okay as a whole, I probably would not want to come here again.

Their food is fresh, and delicious! I love the seasonings they used and how tender their steak was. Their service was on point, and the music playing in the background was really good. Highly recommend this restaurant! It's my third time going, and it never disappoints!

This place is a hidden gem. Read great reviews and decide to try. The servers were friendly. They give you complimentary salsa and chips, so good. We ordered the enchiladas which was amazing! It was our first time trying this dish. We also got a set of 3 taco pastor and steak skirt tacos. So good. Best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. The prices are also reasonable.

To start off parking was fairly simple to get, and we were able to get a table fast when we got inside. They have a good amount of staff, and this day it was pretty full inside. It took a while to place the order, but understandable considering the amount of people. Our waiter was very nice! For an appetizer we got the guacamole. It tasted amazing! Super fresh and smooth. And they give a great amount of chips and salsa ro go with it . And for our entrees, we got the chicken fajitas, pollo yucateca, and the arrachera a la campesina. Everything tasted amazing! It was enough food for the four of us. All the meat was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Finally for dessert we ordered a tres leches and an expresso. very tasty and perfect to end off dinner. Overall good place and would recommend it!

We came here for my boss' bday and had a great time! Everything came out fresh and our server was awesome. Doesnt look like much from the outside but its very cute inside. I would definitely try another entree next time, the mole got over powering by the end of it. The tacos looked pretty standard, so I'd skip those. Everyone loved the tamarindos and fresh lemonade!

Amazing authentic Mexican food! The service was friendly among the entire staff. We started with their chips and salsa which had the perfect amount of spice. I ordered the verde enchiladas and they were delicious. The verde sauce was excellent and I wanted to cover the rice and beans in it to soak up all the flavor. I also enjoyed a frozen margarita with my dinner.

I wish I would have found out about them sooner because it's the freshest, yummiest Mexican food I have ever had in Miami. In the corner of an unassuming little strip on the south east side of Biscayne Blvd and 163rd Street you would likely miss it if you didnt know it was there. From the moment we walked in we were greeted and sat at our table by a attentive, super nice waitress. The restaurant was cozy, not too big not too small and quiet enough to chat comfortably. No long waits for drinks or food either. And the food... OMG so fresh and flavorful. I swear if I snuck into the kitchen I'd find a mom or grandma cooking the meals! My pals Juan and Jorge who'd been there plenty of times before were right when they said the food was great. We each got something different but everyone raved about their meals. We had the best guacamole with chicharones (pork belly not the dry bagged kind) was a very pleasant and tasty surprise. My friend Soni had a Taco Salad (see pic) I had the Burrito. The entrees were all made with the freshest ingredients and portions were plentiful. No one left hungry. LOL Full or not our table of five shared a Churro with Vanilla Ice Cream and Dulce de Leche, and a Fried Ice Cream. The prices were very reasonable for the amount and high quality of the food. I drove from Key Biscayne and would gladly do so again. If you're ever in the area do you and your tummy a favor and check out Paquito's. You won't be disappointed.

Very professional gentlemen with a great sound. I'm not sure if that little girl is part of their group and is always there but she CANNOT sing. If she is part of their group, they should fire her. Aside from the borderline screaming this girl was doing into my party's ear, she does not have manners. She grabbed my arm and pulled me while I was eating because she said she "wanted to dance" but I was trying to eat and ended up spilling my food on myself. She had an attitude if you don't cheer for her or applaud her. She came back after she finished singing and asked us for a tip when the actual mariachi band did not. SO SO SO RUDE!!! Absolutely never coming back. And neither is anyone in my family/party. Such a shame, the band sounded great without her. And the food was decent. Wish I had tried the dessert but I wanted to get far away from that child and her father who was videotaping us the entire time!! Do not come here unless you want to be harassed!!
