Finally got the chance to stop in. The prices are reasonable and service was quick. I had the pot pie which was really good along with the a Caesar salad which was tasty. It came with a croissant brushed with honey and butter. It was oh so good. My wife had the shrimp and sausage pasta which could have been a little saucier. Good food, but subpar service. We planned ahead, more than 6 hours to reserve a table for 8 guests. After getting there and providing them my name, the hostess told me that it would be another 20 minutes until our table was clean and they had someone to serve the area. The first thing that came out of my mouth was "but we called ahead to reserve a table" and the only thing she had to offer was an apology and high chairs at the bar area. I declined, seeing as how my family has small children; high chairs could pose a danger. After finally being sat down, We ordered appetizers that took close to 20 minutes to recieve, and entrees that we waited almost an hour to get. Seriously, guys, you can't make this shit up.Their excuse for the hold up was low kitchen staff. This was not a good experience. I've never visited a restaurant where the employees told me that the large dining area didn't have anyone serving it. First time here with my boyfriend tonight and honestly pretty shitty. The kitchen manager who came out to talk to us and the host drew were the only two good parts of our experience. Both of us work in the restaurant industry (he's a chef and I'm a bartender) and our server Lisa was the worst I've ever had. Checked on us maybe 3 times our whole dinner. Waited literally 10 mins to come check on us after our dinner came out and the shrimp on my meal was under cooked so by the time she came out I obviously did not care for a new order. The guy from the kitchen who came out was extremely nice, great guy. Otherwise our service was just awful. We always overtip but the restaurant was empty and there was no reason for her lack of good service therefore we only left her $4. She was undeserving of a tip and looking like a young couple she clearly stereotyped us from the beginning. First stop at this store, second visit to a Cheddars. Bartenders were wonderful. Store employees were struggling with new computer software and were armpit deep with management. Heard a lot of customer complaints from guests at tables around us and thought it best to tab and go. Nice store, great staff, awesome food and a manager for every issue. My son wanted to go there for his birthday. He had the chicken pot pie, while I had the chicken fried steak and I must say it is one of the best meals I have ever had. I just wonder if they are consistent. Ok so I went again tonight and I must have ordered the country fried steak instead of the country fried chicken, my bad. I took two bites and realized my mistake. The country fried steak tasted absolutely horrible my waitress "Toni" never even came back to my table so I could tell her. When she finally did come around she saw my steak (uneaten) and asked me if I wanted a to go box, it never occurred to her that something might have been wrong with my food, especially when I told her I absolutely did not want to take the food with me! She took my card and rang up the meal and told me to have a good night, I asked to see a manager and with even saying why my food tasted horrible she looked at it and said " yeah, it's greasy". She tried to give me another plate to take home, she attempted to fix it even though I told her I didn't want it. My wife and I have eaten in Cheddar's in Kentucky many times. I find it hard to believe this is the same chain! First, we were told it would be about a 10 minute wait, or we could go to the bar where there was open seating. We didn't want to sit in the bar so we waited. 25 minutes later we were called, and seated at a table in the bar, right next to the billing station. The disappointment continued when the food arrived. I had ordered the chicken fried steak. The steak was tougher than a Walmart Round steak and had about as much flavor. The batter on the steak was thin and had no flavor. It tasted like flour and water and nothing else. The Texas toast was under the steak, so it was soggy and inedible. The mashed potatoes were as thick as paste, and also lacking any flavor. The green beans tasted like they opened a can and heated them up before putting them on the plate. Whoever the cook is needs to be introduced to the seasoning rack. Every thing was just bland, even the white gravy. Denny's serves a better chicken fried steak! My coworkers and I came here for lunch to celebrate some birthdays. We made reservations in advance and our table was ready for us upon arrival. There are a lot of meal options to choose from and prices are quite reasonable. This was my first time at any Cheddars restaurant. I ordered a sirloin steak. It came with two sides so I ordered rice & beans (1 item) and fries. The steak was delicious and cooked as I'd ordered. Rice and beans were also great but they had some pork in them and that wasn't specified in the menu. Fries were average--nothing special. Our waitress was really confused when we asked her to give us the bills for the birthday girls. She kind of froze on the spot so we had to handle it on own. My boss paid for two checks and then only received one receipt after. Then when she tried to tell our server, she was nowhere to be found. We had to tell another server and then a manager. I don't want to mention her name because she may have been new but other than that incident, our experience was pretty good overall. read more

Well as a restaurant manager I guess I'm expecting more than a normal customer. I was in from out of town for a car rally and was staying at the holiday inn behind the restaurant. The young man at the front desk suggested chedders if my kids were awake I would leave the hotel just because he suggested it. My wife and I walked in at 8:15 on Saturday October 15th. We were told there was immediate seating at a high top at the bar. After about 3 minutes with 4 people walking by me with no acknowledgement of my existence. We started the stopwatch on our phone 8 minutes and 37 seconds later a young lady named Maddison brought menus to us, long after ignoring us while behind the bar eating pineapple and talking to the bartender who also saw us but didn't acknowledge us as she stocked her fruit right in front of our completely empty table. I could be way out of line but if this is their idea of customer service I will never find out what the food from the scratch kitchen taste like. Once we realized nobody in this restaurant cared if we were here or not we left. I called the restaurant to get contact info for the area director and the manager told me everything that happens in the restaurant is his fault. That is a bold statement if you are responsible for the way I was treated in this restaurant might I suggest a job at the jiffy lube next door. Seriously if you are 100% sure that your employees can't do the job you want them to do their training isn't over. Extremely disappointing read more

Absolutely horrible experience! I was with a small group of friends, and only ordered a bowl of soup. I waited at least 20 minutes for the soup. When it arrived, I was not given spoon. I finally managed to find somebody to bring one, another 5 minutes, but it was an icetea spoon. 2 more requests from 2 more employees finally yielded a spoon, took another 10 minutes. By then, soup was cold, and not tasty at all. No plans to return. read more

I'm not even sure how to begin this. I went to this Cheddar's today and ordered a chicken Cesar pasta salad. I'm still not sure why I thought this was a good idea to begin with. When the salad came out, the lettuce was limp, the pasta was doughy and over cooked, the dressing tasted like just oil. The worst part of the meal was the chicken though. Instead of a grilled chicken breast on top of the salad, the salad was covered in shaved chicken - similar to deli meat. When I spoke to a manager later, she informed me that the chicken is put through a meat slicer and that is how it is on all of their salads. However I looked up this dish and every other Yelp review shows a full chicken breast. My grandmother ordered a different salad with chicken at another Cheddar's last week and that came with a full grilled chicken breast. It was absolutely repulsive. Writing this review makes me queasy over how absolutely disgusting it was. Overall though the kitchen seemed to be off their game. There was a table that was sat shortly after my party and we already had our food before they had their appetizer. I worry about Cheddar's growing too quickly to keep their quality the same. read more

Brandon location is much better. We have been three times. First time 20 minutes before a server came although several kept walking by. Asked for manager 3 times before a manager ever came. Quality and service very sub-standard. Second and third times better but service seriously lacks and quality is far below that of the Brandon location. read more

Our party of four at our table and eight at the other were all delighted by our chicken tenders, onion rings & fresh spinach dip with tortilla chips. They came out hot & perfectly crispy. The breading was tasty on both appetizers. For dessert we split the most delicious chocolate cake with icing to die for & three scoops of vanilla ice cream. The presentation was very pleasing to the eye. We had a chance to speak to chef Dylan tonight & he gave us a little info about how the food is prepared, from scratch, not pre-frozen. Cudos to our waitress Taylor who kept the beverages flowing. The new management certainly has things well in hand. We will definitely be coming back & recommending Cheddars to friends. read more

We won't be back. We came to this location Saturday evening at 7:45. We didn't have to wait as long as they told us it would be so that was nice and probably the only nice thing about the evening. We sat down and ordered drinks and two appetizers. Drinks took 15 minutes to get and when the appetizers finally didnt come out they looked like they weren't cooked long enough (onion rings and cheese fries). The waiter forgot to put our order in which looks like a trend reading the other reviews. We got our food after an hour of waiting. The manager came over and apologized and said the waiter just forgot. We were expecting maybe a return visit voucher or an appetizer knocked off our bill but no I guess her appearance to the table seemed like enough to them. We would probably be more understanding had we come earlier in the night but the fact that there were empty tables around, it was simply uncalled for. Terrible service and terrible management. Chicken tenders were overdone, tough and small. Men's room was flooded and paper towels out and can overflowing with paper towels. First bad experience at any Cheddar's. First and last time! Quick to be seated, never served. It wasn't busy so there's really no excuse for that. Complained to staff who couldn't care less. For obvious reasons, we don't know what the food is like. The menu looked good and the descriptions appetizing; ultimately left and went next door to eat. So... yeah. I loved Cheddars in Brandon when I lived in that area, so I was so happy when one opened in Lakeland. The first couple of times were great. The last two times were rough to say the least. Last time we waited an hour and a half to get our meals after ordering the onion rings appetizer at the same time. The onion rings didn't show up for at least 30 minutes after finishing our meals. The waitress told us the person working the fry station didn't put them in until our food was out. Nicely enough we didn't have to pay for the onion rings. Tonight we dared to come back and give them another chance only to be met with pretty terrible service. For some reason both nights I ask for a fish sandwich and get a fish on a bed of rice and sides. Not sure where the confusion is, but oh well. At least it tasted good. It would be nice to have silverware to eat our food rather than just staring at it for 5+ minutes after asking for silverware. read more

Worst service ever in the history of service. 14 mins to get greeted. 23 minutes to get drinks. 48 minutes to get cold food. All adults had food and 4 year old was without. He ended up eating off of my plate and we were then delivered his food in a togo plate. Which we did not want. Forced to pay for it. Manager was extremely out of it. She was not personable and did not care to fix any issues. I suggest this place, restart, restaff, and have a grand reopening. Until then, I, myself will not be returning and I have told SEVERAL people to choose a different venue and explained my experience. read more

I ate here for the first time for lunch today - had been to other cheddars in other cities but had been quite a while - we got to the restaurant around 1130 on a Sunday and got seated in probably about 15 minutes but the crowd quickly increased to probably an hour wait with the church crowd letting out - glad we got there early! The Restaurant has a very nice atmosphere with a slightly upscale look to it but the prices are extremely reasonable. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with maple bacon and it was excellent the red beans and rice as a side was also very good. Service was good if not a bit overwhelmed with the crowd but that is to be expected when a restaurant is new in town - New restaurants always get swamped for the first couple of months then it levels off and is a more reasonable wait time. I definitely will go back - there were a number of things on the menu I would like to try! read more

Food was great! I got the half rack of ribs and tenders. Ribs were delicious and fell off the bone! Got the cheese bites (like mozerella cheese sticks) that were yummy, and enough for 3-4 people to snack on. Coleslaw was really good (reminds me of the coleslaw that chic-fil-a used to sell!). My dad had the southern fried chicken. Said it was amazing, and he usually does t like white meat but said it was very moist. Other meals at our table were the steak and shrimp combo. It was very good and well portioned. The bacon burger was had by my nephew. He said it was very good! Another meal was the "sweat and heat" chicken and shrimp. The flavor was good with a lil kick (not even as hot as a jalapeño). My brother got steak and tenders and asked for a side of the crab sauce. The crab sauce comes on the redfish meal but can be added n the side. It was so good I could just eat it by itself! Service was good, and we even got complimentary fresh chocolate chip cookies. Definitely recommend this restaurant, and will be going back for sure! Prices were reasonable too. Like that of chilli's or Applebee's. read more

Had a good experience the first time here for lunch, so we decided to go back for dinner. It was a Monday at 5pm so it wasn't busy. They brought out our food and set mine down, then the woman picked up my wife's plate and stared at it for about 15 seconds with a disgusted look on her face. She then said, "I'm going to take this back." Then walked away...Our waiter came over and wouldn't tell us what was wrong with the chicken sandwich. He said, "She wasn't pleased with how it looked." After asking twice more to clarify he said, "She thought she saw a hair on it, they are making you a whole new one." My wife was uncomfortable because she is 9 months pregnant, so food poisoning isn't something to mess around with right now. Finally a manager brought out the meal and we asked him what had happened and he said, "She said the cheese was slightly burnt and stringy." What?! We were really uncomfortable and nobody would tell us a straight answer so we said we didn't want the meal and we wanted the check, then we just paid & left. Overall a really terrible & uncomfortable experience and we paid 16 dollars for chicken tenders, a coke, and a sweet tea. read more

It has been almost three weeks since my first, and most likely last visit to Chedder's. I was looking to see what others thought. I see a really mixed bag. I guess the things that went wrong the night we were there were all such an easy fix or the wait staff could have told us. We were seated very prompt. Orders taken. Girl taken orders had NO CLUE about anything on menu. But took orders. Came back with drinks. NO ice in any drink? When asked about ice comment was......"Oh Ice machine is broken". Maybe you should have said something before you took the order???? Then when food finally started to come out, it was a mixed bag of hot, frozen, greasy, limp mess. Only good item was the salmon which seemed to have been fixed in another place it was so nice. But the real killer was the filthy silverware. I don't mean just a spot of speck, but huge chunks of dried on food. Looked like it had been picked up off a dirty table and re-wrapped in a new napkin. Then greasy plates came that looked the same way. Girl serving did not seem to think this was an issue????? I can only think that if their plates and silver look like this, what must their kitchen look like. Sorry, don't eat filth. read more

Fresh, delicious food. The little cheese popper things are delicious. The chicken tender thingamabobs are so amazing I could eat only them for the rest of my life. It was so fresh and perfectly fried - not too greasy. It melted in my mouth-hole. I had a buffalo chicken wrap. At other places they drench a crappy piece of chicken in cheap hot sauce and give you some ranch. Not here. Here it's large pieces of delicious fried chicken with a bit of Buffalo sauce to give it some hot flavor but not enough to drown out the flavor of the succulent chicken. They also gave me some tortilla soup that made me think I died and was reincarnated as a young Mexican boy whose mother got a tortilla soup recipe from her mom who got it from her mom, etc, etc. Most soups are just broth and stuff in the broth. No. Not this one. Each slurp of tortilla soup was like what I imagine getting high on crack cocaine would be like. It was so delicious my brain started having issues processing how amazing it was. The worst thing about the meal was having a very above average caeser salad. It was not as deliciously amazing as the other stuff but definitely above average and very good. The meal (buffalo chicken wrap, salad, and soup) was 8.99. Apps were also reasonably priced. At other places 8.99 gets you an entree and some fries, or at an Italian place who shall remain nameless it gets you a soup you've probably had a million times, crappy salad, crappy breadsticks, and a decent amount of mediocre pasta that all tastes the same and yet has no flavor, which seems like it should be impossible somehow is not. Bottom line: I've never eaten at a place and been more impressed by the flavor of the food for the price. Can't miss with this place. read more

I've been to Cheddars before only once with my boyfriend and it was an amazing experience! We had the lemon pepper chicken with rice and black beans and the food was quick and great. I went in today and it was the worst service I have ever experienced. We decided to go because it was my brothers 18th birthday. I live in a family of servers and the people around me are servers so I completely understand how hard it is when a restaurant is packed. We were seated quickly but it took us 10 minutes to even find our server and she didn't even realize that we were there...we ordered our drinks and it took 20 minutes! I understand if it's busy but 5 drinks? 20 minutes?! And then we waited 45 minutes for our food.....WHICH WAS FREEZING WHEN IT CAME! Every single plate came out freezing cold and was disgusting. I had to tell the manager to take it back because I was so furious but my family just dealt with it because they didn't want to wait anymore! The manager tried to make it up by giving my brother a free dessert for his birthday. Isn't that already suppose to be a given at restaurants? They didn't even sing happy birthday...Cheddars, I loved you at first but holy shit if you can't handle it being busy then don't be open at all because being busy and packed is a given. You just lost several potential customers tonight. At least my server was really nice and apologetic that's why I'm giving this one star because I know it's not completely her fault. This is an opinion coming from a man who eats out 7 nights a week and twice on Sunday. I have dined 4 times at this newly opened Cheddars and usually enjoy the good food,service and prices. Tonight was a disaster. Getting seated is always difficult when a new place opens in town and everyone wants to try it. After receiving my pager and waiting 30 minutes I noticed that everyone else was being called after only a ten minute wait. Four groups that came in 10-15 minutes after I had were called to get a table. Finally I spoke to the clueless hostess and she went 2 pages back on her list and told me that she had buzzed my but had not received a reply. I noticed that she had listed pager #46 by my name but had given me pager #40. Hello!! Hosting 101!! If you know a pager is with a customer and they haven't responded there is a problem. Call out the party's name and find them and your pager. No apology and still took ten more minutes to find us a table. As for the food? My first disappointment, the blackened shrimp were way over cooked and the "fresh of the cob" corn was straight out of the can. Hope Cheddars can do better to train their staff right. read more
