Excellent food, excellent service, and great looking bar. We had the Philly Cheesesteak and the Chicken and Shrimp combo and both were great. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the lack of beers on tap. As large as the bar was it was rather disappointing to see only 3 taps, especially when most new places are putting in MANY more than that due to the explosion in demand for craft beers theses days. So for you beer lovers out there that have seen two recent restaurants put in 30 taps each, I'll provide you fair warning that the only beers on tap here are Bud Light, Blue Moon, and Yuengling. read more

When me and my wife heard that cheddars was coming to Lakeland, we couldn't contain our excitement. The one in Fort Lauderdale and Virginia always had wonderful food. Unfortunately, this particular location was far off the mark. When we ate here they didn't have a kids menu, and the pecan salad that we normally order was drowned in sliced carrots. Great addition to Lakeland dining. Having had eaten at other Cheddars locations, this location has lived up to expectations. Grilled salmon was perfectly cooked, croissants fresh from the oven and lemon pepper fish was well prepared. Chips and queso were crispy and delicious. Look forward to coming back soon. read more

Dang!! I was really hoping for a better experience !! We started with the Queso that was very good with the exception that the chips were super stale :-(.... Our server was nice and got everything right but the kitchen got my Grilled Chicken VERY WRONG!! To start with the Chicken is sliced on top of bed of black beans and rice so there is no excuse for it to be served to me RAW RAW RAW !!!!!! YES RAW!!!! Doesn't compare to the cheddars in Orlando or fort Myers. The one time we sat down to eat at this one with a group, only 2/6 of us got our orders back correct. To-go ordering is always a hassle. Almost never ready on time. Once I got fries that had sauce on them that looked like they came off a used plate. The service just isn't good. Ate here for lunch today. Coming in I was more than a little disappointed that we were told there was a 25 minute wait, when I could clearly see many, many open tables. So, I thought maybe several people had called off. We waited our time and while we were being lead to our table I commented about all the empty tables (about 1/2 the tables we passed we empty and clean) to the hostess. She proceeded to explain that they have to be careful not to "over seat" the dining room or the kitchen can't keep up. Wait, what?!? I understand that a lot of the food is made from scratch, which means kitchen service will take a little longer, but really? 'The kitchen can't keep up'? Then make the ding room smaller, or the kitchen larger and hire more cooks... That was one of the strangest things I had ever been told by a restaurant. So, I don't know if that was a true statement or the hostess just thought it sounded better than, half our wait staff called in. Anyway, the food was all pretty good. The hand battered onion rings were amazing, worth the wait and strangely 1/2 empty dining room. I had half a club sandwich (good, but how do you screw up toast and lunch meat) and the loaded potato soup (really good, and I would order it again). Happily the soup was nice and hot (sometimes a problem at other restaurants) and well seasoned, I didn't even need to add any salt or pepper. Hubby had chicken finger platter, also good. The chicken was moist, but not greasy. The homemade ranch dressing that comes with the onion rings was obviously fresh made, way better than anything out of a bottle. And it was so good hubby asked for more to eat with the chicken. We couldn't finish the huge plate of onion rings so we brought about half home, the waitress kindly sent us home with a couple of to-go dips, which was very nice, as some restaurants act like you're robbing them if you want something like that, but our waitress actual offered without us having to ask for it...nice touch. So, over all this is a nice addition to Lakeland and I will eat here again. I would just suggest to management that if what the hostess said about the kitchen keeping up is true, you really need to fix that. People are not generally patient and seeing an 1/2 empty dining room after waiting almost a half an hour will not sit well with most people read more

Our waitress was extremly pleasant. BUT when she brought the wrong order to our table not once but twice she tried to encourage us that what she brought was better. But the husbands wanted what they order same with the drink my husband ordered he wanted a Long Island Iced tea she put in a margarita. Also the onions rings, country fried steak (which I kept I ordered chicken) and even the chicken (becuz husbands sent back there steak) tasted like the fry oil was old. I've been here twice since it opened. The service has been impeccable. The staff is friendly and they go out of their way to make people happy from what I've seen. The food tastes delicious. This place seems to be hit or miss. Getting started was an ordeal with just 5 people. It was as if they had never seated a customer before and were unsure what to do. Our order was taken promptly, but took a while to arrive with missing sides and condiments we never received. Although the food wasn't bad, it wasn't anything spectacular. Called to make reservations for a large party for six o'clock. We were told we weren't able to make reservations but could call ahead to let them know we were coming. After knowing that we had a party of over 15, they proceeded to make us wait for over an hour. Staff was not helpful and not accommodating. Mediocre food at best. If I could give minus stars I probably would.. I was excited to go to this location because I had been to the one in Brandon and was very happy about the service I received there. The set up in Lakeland was very nice to me, beautiful plants and everything. My husband and I went on. Friday night around 8pm we were sat quickly which was great. Our waitress was named Katie, she didn't recommend anything she just said "what do you want"? My husband asked about types of beer available she replied, " I don't know I'm only twenty"! Okkkkk my husband said to her and he just ordered any old beer, I just got a coke because if she doesn't know about simple beer she wouldn't know about mixed drinks.. shouldn't the wait staff have some idea of beers on hand and if not it's ok to say "give me one second"and go ask the bartenders!! We order the chicken wraps because we loved them when we were at the Brandon location, they were good however as soon as we got them she is asking do we want to order desert.. gosh can we eat our meal and then we could possibly order desert!! So needless to say we didn't order desert!! Also while we're eating we had a server in an empty booth across from us counting her tips and telling a bus boy about her tips and about the customers she had that night!! There is so much more to say but I'm already exhausted and let's say we won't be visiting this location again, we will be at the one in Brandon!! It's sad because this one is so convenient!!! The food was very good, the service was abysmal. Our waiter acted like it was his 1st day, and he had started after the lunch service. My companion had to request silverware and a napkin 1/2 way through the meal. I asked for 1 check, he couldn't figure out how to do that, obviously, so he brought 2. I asks for butter for my steamed broccoli, and 15 min. later when he brought it the broccoli was almost as cold as the butter from the refrigerator... he brought the bills to be signed, but didn't return the slips with the charges. This was my first time to Cheddars tonight I can actually say I was quite impressed. The atmosphere is very soothing and comfortable. The chicken pot pie was probably the best I have ever had, lots of vegetables, chicken and very light flaky crust. The spinach dip is delicious. A wonderful meal with my husband for only $28.00. In town for a conference and found this place close to our hotel. Our server John was excellent. Everyone is friendly here. Ambiance is warm and inviting. The food was good. I liked the barbecue ribs and chicken. They did come out a bit dry so make sure to ask for extra barbecue sauce but overall flavor was good. read more

We are at this Cheddar's last night for the first time. The food was very good. I got the shrimp Alfredo and my husband got the country fried chicken. It was the best Alfredo sauce I've ever had, and the prices were very reasonable! They didn't put on the menu that the pasta was half full of broccoli and carrots, which was a surprise, but it ended up being fabulous. I do wish I had known ahead of time though. The shrimp was blackened, which also wasn't on the description, so I did have to change that to grilled after I got my food (I am very sensitive to spices), but the grilled shrimp (though there were only five) were very good. The only real downfall to our night was the lack of service. I completely understand being busy, but we waited for drinks, boxes, and our check much longer than we even waited for our food to be made. Our waitress seemed to be nowhere in sight. Worst service ever from server and manager! Had great experiences at 2 other Cheddars locations so was excited to get one in town. Went 7:30 on a Friday night and wait wasn't too bad. After seated for 30 minutes still didn't have our booster seat, bar drinks, dipping sauce for sampler that already came out, or had given our dinner order. By the time that came we were due refills on our regular drinks. The waitress brings the refills with NO ICE! Says they ran out of ice and brought my daughter nothing since her sweet tea would've been hot. Foodcame out incorrect. Manager stated would comp the bill but didn't and we were charged incorrectly in the first place. On our way out the door witness another customer carrying in HIS OWN bag of ice from the gas station next door. A total embarrassment! read more

Walked in and was told 5 minute wait turned out to be 3. Seater was polite and friendly. The waitress was attentive and nice. When our food arrived she noticed before me that the shrimp for my daughter came seasoned and brought unseasoned shrimp. Visits to multiple other Cheddars has always been pleasant. Cheddars is known for their delicious onion rings. More than one of us mentioned that these were just ok. Most of the time I come to Cheddars for their low prices & delicious Monte Christo sandwich. Two of us ordered it and both were so disappointed. Instead of the meat being spread over the bread (more on the 'bread' later) it was folded into 1" pieces and laid out like a log. The heat was so high (hot) that the 'bread' was too browned on the outside but not even hot enough to melt the cheese on the inside. On to the bread....it was dough wrapped around the meat. A real disappointment. Monte Cristo should be made with slices of bread....not dough. read more

At 11 she gave me a beeper, I said why the beeper I'm a single looking for lunch, they proceeded to seat. 20 top, then it took at least 25 minutes for them to sear, two 6 tops and a 4 top, 2 singles all of whom arrived after myself except the 20 top, some kind of ladies club, I perfectly understand this, but to pass by me, take 18 people ahead of me, was not only ridiculous, but unfair. Ordered three meals, chicken that was fine, and a BBQ Burger and a bacon cheeseburger... ordered the bacon on both burgers crispy. Ok came out not at all crispy, the waitress had to bring out more bacon that finally was ok but then the burger after eating left a bad taste in our mouths! Fries were so so.
